For right now, I'll recommend a little-known anime called Last Exile. It's amazing. ^.^ It's a steampunk, action, and adventure anime. It's really awesome. I'd give a synopsis, but I'm really bad at those...

Edit: This anime gets a 5/5. Don't be discouraged to stop watching after the first two episodes. Keep watching, and you will understand just how truly amazing Last Exile is.

Alright, another of my recommendations: Glass Fleet. I just finished watching it the other day. Despite the fact that Funimation owns the rights, it's a pretty cool anime. This time, I'll give a semi-synopsis.

Okay, so this anime starts out in a galaxy (yes, they are in space), which is centered around a "star" they call the Black Cross. This Black Cross has it's own religion, and a bunch of crazies to go with it. Anyway, the main character is the leader of the People's Army, a rebel faction that stands against the main antagonist, Vetti Sforza, who is the leader of the Holy Empire (no Romans involved... Okay, there's a Roman helmet, but that guy is against Vetti). Now, the protagonist's name is Michel Vulban, who we later find out is actually Racine Blanche Vulban, mascquerading as her brother, who went missing, in order to get revenge on Vetti and to unify the galaxy (there are a lot of people who want to do that) in the name of the people, and not in the name of the nobility (though she is nobility...). Anyway, she's looking for a savior to win the war for the People's Army and to overthrow Vetti, because she can't cut it. That's when she meets the wind, Cleo, who carries the blood of the Royal Family (overthrown by the Allied Nobility (who Vetti overthrew), and long thought to be extinct). As you can imagine, she, her maid, and her butler join up with him and his crew of a miscreant pilot, a wanted information technologist, a wanted gunner, and the right-hand man of a legendary Admiral, and they help the People's Army in their battle against Vetti. This anime has a lot of blowing up stuff, fairly awesome sword fights, naked people (you don't see much), magical transformation sequences (it's a ship transforming), blood, and crazies. Oh, and a really weird religion. May you find peace in the light of the cross. Yeah. But it was pretty awesome, and only 26 episodes. You can only find it in English, but it's on Veoh.com and on the Funimation website for free. If I had to rate it, I'd give it a 3.5/5. Not the most amazing anime I've ever seen, but pretty good. My mom liked it. ^.^

Okay, it's been a while since I last recommended an anime to y'all. So, here's one that I finished watching about a month or so ago. It's called Angel Beats! It's amazing, and I'll give a synopsis-ish.

Angel Beats! is about people who've died after having an unfair life. They go to a special afterlife school with others who've died the same way and so-called "NPCs" who aren't people. The protagonist, Otonoshi-kun, finds himself in the schoolyard of this place at night with no memories of his life before, and is met by the leader of a resistance force. Her name is Yurippe (that's what they call her), and they're fighting against God and Tenshi (Angel). Tenshi is the Student Council President. She tries to get them to behave like normal students, and fights with them as well. Otonoshi joins this resistance force and fights Tenshi, though he doesn't really feel right about it. Anyway, this anime is full of hilarity and sadness. I laughed and cried through the whole thing. The art is beautiful, and the story line is pretty good (though I'm sure that I don't make it sound great). It's a pretty new anime, and came out just this year. It's not dubbed yet, but I've lost my faith in dubs, so who cares. It is definitely worth every minute you'll spend waiting for it to load, searching for new episodes, and actually watching it. I found it on Youtube, if that helps. I'd give it a 5/5. smile

Okie dokie, I have another recommendation. It's called Hakuoki: Shinsengumi Kitan, but you can generally find it under Hakuoki. If the Shinsengumi part didn't give it away, it's about the Shinsengumi. It's an anime based on a dating sim (there's a manga, but it starts at the end of the first season or somewhere in the second (of the anime), and isn't very long at all and is very confusing). The main character is a girl named Yukimura Chizuru, and she dresses up as a man to go to Kyoto to look for her missing father. While she's there (really, right when she gets there), she gets right into the middle of a fight between the Shinsengumi and some oni (demons). After she sees this, the Shinsengumi take her into custody and decide what in the world to do with her. They decide to let her stay on the condition that she remain dressed as a man. I won't say any more than that, because the plot line is fairly interesting. Okay, it's a bit confusing at times, but the animation is beautiful, and most of the guys are good-looking, so it totally makes up for it. It is sort of a history lesson, but if you want a more accurate one, go read Kaze Hikaru (which is amazing). Overall, this anime gets a 5/5. You think I rate too high? Well, then make up a review/synopsis-y thing yourself! scream

Oh, I forgot to say this: the show is really new. I think it came out the first part of this year. The second season comes out on October 26th, I believe. I found this on Youtube.

Edit: OMFG!!!!!!!! The raw's out for season 2 on Youtube! I can only understand about 50% of it, but oh my gosh! *spazzes*

Okay, because I mentioned it in my earlier post, I'll talk about Kaze Hikaru. It's a gender-bender historical manga set at the very end of the Tokugawa Shogunate (circa 1863-ish or the 3rd year of Bunkyu of the Bakumatsu Era). It centers, of course, around the Shinsengumi. Mainly, the fictional character Kamiya Seizaburo (a.k.a. Tominaga Sei) and Okita Soji. Kamiya joins the Shinsengumi in order to both aid the Mibu-Roshi and to avenge his murdered family. As it turns out, though, Kamiya is a 15-year-old girl who dressed as a man in order to do the afore-mentioned. It's a really good story line, a really good history lesson both in customs and in events, a good cultural introduction, and of course, a good samurai manga. I love it so much, even though I'm only on volume 16, only because I lost my job and couldn't buy more. X3 I'll tell you a secret: you know it's a good samurai manga when it's over 8 manga long and I still recommend it. I won't read anything that's long unless I love it. I'm looking at you, Kenshin. He's not in Kaze Hikaru, by the way. Anyway, this manga gets a 5/5. biggrin
