It can. I've been thinking this for a few months now. And yeah. It'd be fun to die. If you're Saved, death'll happen and you'll be with your Father at last. Yeah....absolutely nothing would be better than death, now that I think of it.....

Phanari, not that I disagree with you, but I don't know if that's the right attitude to take. I took that line of thought a little too far a few months ago...in fact I was depressed, and thinking that way didn't help. It's good to desire the Lord's presence but as long as we're on earth, unless we're called to be martyrs, it's probrably best to lay thought about death down, and just focus on following the Lord's Will down her on earth.

That's why the old men who wrote the Bible decided upon suicide to be a sin. They couldn't have all their followers going around killing themselves because they were promised a place in Heaven after death.
Imagine if they had forgotten to put that in their little book.

Phanari I know suicide's a sin. But I don't believe it'll lead you Hell if you kill yourself.... If I were a christian who believed in the concept of Hell I would definetely believe that suicide would lead you there. If I'm not mistaken you must repent for your sins in order to stand ready to be cleansed before God when you die. Commiting suicide wont give you the chance to repent for that sin. You would be dead and after death you can't repent for your sins for some unknown reason. Besides when commiting suicide you kill yourself intentionally, knowing it's a sin according to God. It would be like killing someone without God's permission or worshipping false idols knowing God is against it. I don't think God would like that sort of hypocricy. But what do I know. Maybe someone should try it out just to be sure. Anyone's up for it? Anyone? Seriously, life is beautiful sometimes. Enjoy it as long as it lasts. heart

Yeah....absolutely nothing would be better than death, now that I think of it..... Fun: enjoyment or playfulness. Just be sure you don't do anything purposely to induce death to be with the father because the joy might not be there. Now being saved and doing his will can supply much joy, but thats just my opinion. So death in GOD's timing would indeed be good for us. HIS will not ours.

I am not sure if that is the best way to look at it, either. I can understand where you are coming from.
I think the better way for Christians to look at this is to know that our life here on Earth is the closest to hell that we will know, and for eternity, we will be in heaven with Jesus.

It was probably the worst sin he commited and I have a hard time believing that he is in hell for just that sin.

I feel that you will be greatly disappointed in the afterlife if you assume you know what's going to happen when you die.

Someoneiknow I feel that you will be greatly disappointed in the afterlife if you assume you know what's going to happen when you die. so your saying that someone who is severely depressed who did lived a very good life and thought of everyone else before himself is in hell due to one mistake? I think god makes exceptions for those who are severely depressed and are at their breaking point.

I think god makes exceptions for those who are severely depressed and are at their breaking point. Suicide is looked upon as a selfish act and shouldn't even be thought about. If you are severally depressed and feel you want to end your life, then you should go seek help from a trust friend, a Bishop, Pastor, and on your knees in prayer to Heavenly Father.

No, I'm just saying that for those who do choose to end their life based on the assumption that all will be roses and fun with God, you will not experience that. But I don't believe in the black and white version of Heaven and Hell either.

You know, there is a reason God has kept us on the earth -_-;; It is selfish to want to die, if we are alive, there is a reason. He wants us to go through... he tells us to live day by day, and probably isn't very happy you are focusing so much on your own fate in the future instead of those around you who are suffering now and trying to save them from their fate.
