1.6.0 From Concept: Prompt
Prompt #: 2
Your toddler has been extremely adventurous lately, so adventurous in fact that he or she has been disappeared for days. How do you find your missing Song and reprimand him/her for their disobedient and worrisome behavior?
Prompt:
“Erb!” Sonri bellows into the depths of Central Park.
“Eeeeeerb! Senspysays!”
“Excuse me,” a rotund tourist bearing a large Statue of Liberty hat inquires as he pokes Sonri in the arm. “Are you selling herbs and spices?”
“NO! ERB IS MY SON!”
“Oh…ok…sorry about that. Go on then.”
Sonri bowls past the plump guest of the city on his way to Turtle Pond. On the banks of the body of water, he scans the surface.
Sonri would not have been so worried if it was not going to thunder and lightning that evening. Erb usually comes home within a reasonable amount of time. But, considering that the last time Sonri found him he was on a little piece of land in the center of a bigger pond farther uptown in Central Park, Sonri was worried Erb could be hit by lightning. Summers in NYC can be brutal.
The thunderstorm clouds begin rolling in, grumbling with anticipation.
“Erb!”
A little arm slowly rises out of the water and starts waving furiously at Sonri. Sonri grabs the little hand and pulls Erb out of the water.
“Erb! What were you doing in there?! It is about to thunder and lightning! Let’s go home right now. And how long were you under the water? I didn’t know you could hold your breath for so long. Maybe you should be a diver. Then you could…”
“DAD! You are rambling again! And I was only down there for 10 minutes.” Erb says nonchalantly.
“How the heck were you down there for so long?”
“I asked the water to give me oxygen and it did.”
Flabbergasted, Sonri puts a hand to his forehead. “Well, please tell me next time that you will be gone for this long…And check the weather before you leave!”
“YESSIR!” Erb puts a small hand up in salute.
Sonri then grabs the little being and puts him over his shoulder. As Sonri turns to walk home, Erb waves goodbye to the millions of new friends he just made at Turtle Pond.
