-:- Role Playing -:- --------------------------
Role playing is just what it sounds like...the act of taking on the role of a character and playing it. In the case of the Witchery Brew the character you will be playing is your witch or wizard and possibly any other characters that interact with your witch or wizard at home.
A few things to remember while interacting in an RP:
1. Always try to finish off what you've started. If you begin an RP in the thread make sure to finish it. If you cannot make plans to either continue it in the thread later or on some sort of messager service such as AIM or MSN. PM's can also be used to finish off role plays.
2. Keep Out Of Character comments to a minimum. While in the RP thread please try to keep all OOC comments to a minimum. The shop thread or PM's can be used if you're curious as to how someone's been. If you feel that you must say something OOC please put it in some sort of brackets or parenthesis. (( Like this. ))
3. Your character is not invincible. That's right. No matter how 'cool' your witch or wizards's powers may be, he or she is NOT a god or goddess.
That being the case we have a rather strict old honor system. Know that your character can't avoid everything. Try and keep your hits and misses to about 50%.
Example of BAD scenario: Player 1: "Player 1 casts a spell which instantly hits Player 2 before s/he is able to attempt a counter spell, rendering him afflicted on impact."
How this SHOULD be done: Player 1: "Player 1 casts a spell, aiming at Player 2." Player 2: "Player 2 casts a counter spell, deflecting Player 1's blast."
OR: Player 1:"Player 1 casts a spell, aiming at Player 2's." Player 2: "Player 2 casts a counter spell but, because s/he was distracted, it failed. S/he is affected by the spell"
Try and keep even numbers of the two good examples.
4. No Drama. A twist in the plot is acceptable but please, PLEASE don't come up with a different problem every day that puts your character as the center of attention. Every person has a their fifteen minutes of fame. Please don't overdo it.
At the moment, I can't really think of anything else. Have fun! If there are any other questions just post and I'll do my best to answer them.
