The forest just outside of town started out sparse, becoming thick and full the deeper in you went. There were trees galore outside of all types along with all other sorts of plants for one to explore.
A path from the forest would lead down to a lake that someone had taken the time to build a dock over. A few boats were left out beside the dock durring the summer, but, during the winter, the entire lake would freeze over making it perfect for ice skating.

Huffing her displeasure at being banned from the house, Trysta padded through the woods, kicking up clumps of snow as she did so. Sen, on the other hand, thought that it was great to be out and about again, jumping at the snow and trying to catch it.
"Can you believe that? She grounded me from the house..."

The wolf wuffed a response, trying his best to sound indignant to being 'grounded from the house'. What did he care? He was outside. He nuzzled against the soft fabric of her skirt before wandering towards the lake, lapping at the ice as it began to melt.
"Silly wolf... What do you know about being kept from studies? Nothing... That's what."
She huffed as she followed him, bending to retrieve a handfull of pebbles. She looked them over for a moment before plunking them at the lake, wondering if any would break through.

Alair sighed, his breath forming a thin cloud upon the cold air. "Why did she have to kick me out now?"
A breezy chuckle to his left caused him to whip around in surprise at the crouched purple-white wyvern that stood there. "Because I asked her to, young Alair." Iilivenahr said, grinning with Cefis perched on the end of his muzzle. "Your little friend here can smell herbs, yes? I believe there is some feverfew growing around here."
The wizard stepped forward and carefully picked Cefis up and cradled the small rat, remarking, "How do you know that? Well -- both things. The feverfew and Cefis' ability?"
Iilivenahr snorted, his voice taking on a mysterious tone. "I'm a Wyvern -- we know these things. At any rate... isn't that your friend over there?" The dragon nodded with his head towards Trysta and her companion.
"What? Who are you... Trys! HEY!" Alair called, turning from the wyvern and walking towards the witch. "What brings you out in the cold?"

She seemed lost in her thoughts for a moment but the wolf was quick to pick up on the presence. Boywhopetsniceandmakesgirlhappy was here! Sen's tail wagged behind him as he padded towards Alair with a happy 'woof'.
It took that noise to draw her from her 'dreamland', smiling lips and twinkling eyes turning towards her friend. "Alair! Fancy you finding us here..." She chuckled, brows furrowing when his question came about. "What brings me out here? I've been grounded from the house. Who on earth grounds people from the house?"

Cefis shifted to Alair's left hand while his right reached down to scratch the wolf being the ears, grinning. "Crazy caretakers who think that because the sun's shining, it's nice out." He replied, patting Sen on the head before closing the distance between himself and Trysta. "My caretaker and her bond Iilivenahr are using the excuse that I should hunt for feverfew in this area, but I think it's too cold for it to grow."
Cefis added an emphasizing "Squeak!" to the statement, as if agreeing with the wizard. Alair absently began running his hand over Cefis' fur, relaxing the small, earth-brown creature.

Jack laid in her forest entry listening to the empty voices talking across the lake, from the sounds of it there was a small party but only a few felt like talking. Reaching into her jackets squirming pocket she withdrew two mice one bright pink and one a matt furred black that instantly took off towards the frozen water when her hand opened.
Stuffing the fake mouse back into her pocket she lept up and jotted after the escaping pest.

"Maybe there's a method to their maddness..." She chuckled softly, blushing as she took into consideration that their guardian's tossing them both out could have been the thing that brought together this chance meeting tonight. Of course, she quickly chased that thought from her mind.
"Skye simply said that I'd spent too much time studying and I should enjoy some time in town... I'm not ready to go back into the town..." Sensing her unease, Sen returned to her side, butting his head against her leg. Absently, she reached down, patting him on the head.

Alair nodded in agreement. But... did Marushii and "method" mix? He doubted it. He was about to share this observation, but quickly thought better of it at her next statement and expression. "I know what you mean... That place wasn't, well, right, wasn't it?"
A faint puff! of air let him know that Iilivenahr had left, but this barely registered. As the mouse took off across the lake, Cefis began to squirm in Alair's hand. "Huh? What's up, Ce'?" He asked, looking down at his rat and following Cefis' gaze. He blinked in surprise at the sight of Jack, as well as the mouse she was chasing after. "Careful! There's some patches of thin ice around here!" He called to her, hoping the message wouldn't become disoriented.

Not hearing Alair's full message, Jack rushed up the the lakes edge glairing at her mouse as it slid across the ice towards the other side and the lakes other occupents. Quickly pulling out her wand and pointing it at her shoes she muttered "Glace" before stepping out onto the lake and after her pet.
((I will still continue to post spell info here as they are reviled Glace is french for ice the spell is a Trangmographaction based spell to help items cling to ice... like with Jacks shoes they basically are now a type of ice skate for her))

"No... It wasn't... Even if it served to bring us closer together." She had meant for 'us' to mean all of the witches and wizards who had entered the shack...but there were always so many other meanings that words could have and she kicked herself for that.
For once, she was quite glad for an interruption. It would keep her from saying something else silly. "'Ello, Jack! Alair's right... Sun was enough to melt some of the ice today."

Stopping near half way of the lake she staired the the two as her mouse scurred off the ice and over to Trysta.
"What?" She nearly yelled back, her ears where red from a mixture of embaressment of paying much attention to what they where saying and the forest snow she had been laying in for hours. "Oh! Catch that mouse would you!" Jack gasped as she watched it try to hide between the two.

"AIIIIEEE!" The scream was enough to catch a lot of attention as Steven suddenly did a face plant into a snow bank along the edge of the lake. "Dang black ice..." He grumbled, trying to push himself to his feet and only ending up falling back down. "Owww..."

Alair watched Jack anxiously, and prayed that the ice was still thick on her chosen path. "Yeah... even if it was for a short time, and we didn't catch each other's names." He replied, a slight grin on his face. There were two that he didn't recognize - the rune-reading boy, and the other who knew a lot about mythical beasts.
At the mention of her name, Alair blinked and looked harder. "Isn't she... the one who turned invisible and crashed into someone before... then?" He asked, trying to figure out why Jack looked familiar. He chose his words carefully, not wishing to accidently make Trysta remember what it was like, going through the Shrieking Shack.
Although she was really brave about it -- she DID go first, after all, and was the first to see what was waiting on the other side, but... Focus, Alair! Focus! He brushed aside his thoughts, thankful that his now reddened face could be mistaken as a result of the cold.
He knelt down and slipped Cefis onto his shoulder, and offered his hands to ground level. "Hey there -- would you like to ride on my warm hand instead of tramping in the snow?" He coaxed the mice, jumping slightly at Steven's yell, but remaining in a crouch in hopes of getting the mice.

The wolf thought that the mouse running around was a great game so it was he, rather that Trysta that set about trying to catch it. Of course, he was very gentle with his pounces and would never do anything to hurt another creature at all.
"Yes... That's her." So much for a quiet night, she thought with a smile. "And there's Steven." She chuckled softly.
"'Ello, Steven! Careful over there!" She called out to him, holding her cloak up a bit as Sen snuffled around her in search for the mouse.
