Travelling creates camaraderie and camaraderie breeds bonds. Chiv and Mene-Pup (Merrill’s strange nickname for him) grew fairly close and almost decided to start a family, but their plans changed. Sitting together by water as Menelaus always loved to do, they first discussed the pack. The flowers had grown, and ideas burst out fresh as the new spring grass, thoughts pouring down like rain to help it grow. As soon as the idea was made and the name chosen, Merrill was brought in.
Her first thought on it was, “You chose THAAAT name!??” Or . . . close enough to it.
“You May Come Always. YMCA.”
This pack stands for everything that is lonely and afraid in the world today as a simple place for them to pick themselves back up again. A wolf is free to stay here under watching eyes to protect him. One can even call it an inn of sorts, a peaceful place away from the cluster of packs to YMCA’s southwest where wolves are not asked prying questions beyond “How long do you wish to stay here?” or “What would you like to eat?” A wolf is never quite forced to stay here because though more permanent members usually equals a ton more fun, it doesn't necessarily mean everyone's happy about staying.
Couples who cannot take care of their children for whatever reason can know they are in safe paws if given to the YMCA’s caretakers, while at the same time lost pups can find hope in kind wolves whom would like to adopt them. An inn, a shelter, an asylum from pack politics – this is what YMCA is about.
“Free as a bird.” Another great saying helping to form this pack into what it's gonna be.
Help will always be the key.
