Freaksrus Stella was keeping watch over the tree and was starting to sleep. Celesi wandered over and took a few Star Fruits off the tree. She then hid them in the forest. Stella was mad at her, but instead of having her go find them and return them. She decided to let Gaians find them. The way was open for them. Stella smiled at them all. "Welcome! You get to be the first to enjoy a special Treasure Hunt." "There are three paths you may choose. One into the Deep forest. One toward the lake. The other leads to a clearing. Please Choose your path and may you find them." Celesi chuckled. "Good luck all of you!" She smiled and waved, then turned and ran. Now which way will you choose... Every one must choose a path. It will be a Choose your own adventure Quest. If you want to make a new topic for your responses that is fine. You may also post your responses here. RP is fine but not required. Kaiden absently rubbed the back of his head as he wandered towards the paths Stella had pointed out. Aithne had given him a good smack upside the head when he'd told her if she wanted to go on a treasure hunt, then she should be the one to go DO the hunting.
Apparently that had been the wrong answer. He was supposed to 'go be a kid and have fun.'
Kaiden snorted to himself and let his hand drop back to his side.
He was certain he'd seen his friends Nozomi and Vydia disappear in the distance as he'd been talking to Stella, but hadn't seen which paths they'd taken... and while he didn't really think Nozomi would mind the company---well, he wasn't sure he wanted to cross Vydia if she was feeling competitive! So he'd decided to look at all the paths and choose his own. If he ran into a friend, so be it!
Being raised by one of the ninja clans residing outside Barton, he was very at home in deep forest and was NOT too keen on the idea of the mist he could see hovering over the trees from the lake. Wet and cold? No. Thank. You. The clearing was far too open for him, no where to hid--- wow, he'd spent too much time with the ninjas. But, none the less, found himself wandering confidently towards the deep forest path.

Kaiden entered the Deep Forest. It was quite cool and dark. He could see a path to the right, and a path to the left. There was nothing else to see but trees.

It got darker and darker the further Kaiden roamed into the embrace of the looming trees. The temperature was dropping too, but the fire-based star wasn't complaining, at least it wasn't wet.
As he reached a fork in his path, he looked left and right... and then UP never forgetting the first lesson his guardian had taught him. Seeing nothing but relatively close-set trees, Kaiden debated trying to climb one, but realized he'd never be able to reach the lowest branches. The lack of space had caused the trees to only form branches near the top of their trunks in order to fight for more sunlight at the canopy.
Shoulders slumping slightly, having no fun at all being stuck by himself, Kaiden kicked a loose rock on the path. It started to careen toward the left, but hit a tree and bounced down the right path. Not caring which way he went really, he decided to follow the stone down the path to the right.

He went to the right. There was a tree with a rope ladder to his right. The path continued on straight, but had a slight blackish haze to it. On his left was trees.

Kaiden kicked his rock again once he caught up to it... harder this time. He was remembering the 'game' Vydia had made up at their bench, before he met his guardian for the first time; and this was not helping to improve his mood. The rock ricocheted of a tree and right back into his head.
"Ouch!" Kaiden rubbed at the bump that was forming, but didn't feel any breaks in the skin. "Stupid rock anyways..."
His voice sounded odd in the lonely woods. He glared around, looking for the tree that had viciously attacked him with his own rock. When he saw it, just to the right of a the path, he was shocked to see there was a rope ladder attached to it! It seemed too convenient, he had been taught to check for traps... but the ladder seemed sturdy enough and had really whetted his curiosity. Looking left, all he could see was a wall of trees and Kaiden knew he'd be hopelessly lost the moment he left the path. He stared reluctantly down the rapidly darkening path and noticed it had a kind of a creeping haze over it... well it brought to mind the smoke pellets he was not very good at throwing. Shuddering slightly, Kaiden decided he would take to the trees after all. With a last quick glance around, Kaiden climbed up the rope ladder into the tree.

Kaiden climbed the ladder and saw a strange network of wooden bridges. They went to the left, right, and straight.

Kaiden nimbly reached the top of the rope ladder and was confronted with the wonderfully familiar sight of a network of bridges hiding in the canopy. These certainly weren't like the ones he lived in with the ninjas, they looked vastly different; and rather strange to be honest. But he was much happier traveling up where he had a chance of observing his surroundings... and no creepy haze. Kaiden couldn't restrain a second shudder.
'Three paths... well, it will be easier to retrace my steps if I remain consistent...'
Having been taught that in an unknown area it was best to pick a direction and stick to it, Kaiden turned toward the right path.

Kaiden took the bridge to the right. He briefly saw a woman coming up the ladder before he left. He stood facing a thick tree trunk. He could only go right or left.

Just as he started moving down the bridge on his right, Kaiden heard someone else struggling up the rope ladder. He waited long enough see that it was a woman... and to note she was a stranger. Now that he was in more familiar territory (well, sort of) company, especially that of a stranger, did not seem quite as appealing as it would have ten minutes before.
Dashing silently over the bridge of his choice, Kaiden quickly found himself facing a large tree trunk that the path split around. He wasn't sure if it rejoined itself on the far side, but just in case it did not, he took the bridge going to the right of the thick tree trunk.

Kaiden went right. He saw a set of stairs to the right and a bridge to the left.

The paths apparently did not rejoin on the other side of the trunk. Kaiden started to move toward the bridge that continued to the left, but two steps down the bridge... and already his curiosity couldn't take it! This was actually kind getting to be fun... though he'd not admit that to Aithne unless it was under duress. He spun back around and headed for the stairs.

Kaiden went up the stairs. He was on a plateau. Up another flight of stairs was a strange structure. He could go back or up the stairs.

Kaiden got to the top of the staircase and saw that his choice was to go higher or go back. There was no way he could go back before seeing what was at the top! He could just barely some sort of structure... Kaiden took a deep breath and continued as fast as he could up the next flight of stairs.

Kaiden went up the stairs. He stood before a grand structure forged by the tree. It was like a strange bubble made of branches. There even seemed to be windows. He could go in the entryway, or back.
