In the sevendays following the mating flight lesson, W'nala did his best to keep his hands to himself. His thoughts were being kept in check as well, for fear of endangering his beloved Quanalanth. Awkward would be the only way to describe his behavior. Between concentrating on his studies and keeping out of trouble, he was certainly wearing himself out. The young Greenrider still wasn't sure how he could remain a buffer between the two, when the emotions from Esyn's last flight had been so strong. A warm, glowing smile emerged as memories of that event surfaced. He let the scenes play out a little, since Quanalanth was napping in the warm afternoon sun, a gentle warmth that was similar to how the sunlight was in the field he had been in that day.

W'nala saw himself yelling at the older boy for teasing him so harshly in front of the other kids earlier. The Bronze flitter on his friend's shoulder had his wings flared, and his eyes were whirling fast. At the time, young Jeb thought he had angered his long time friend, he didn't realize the flitter's intense gaze was only for the irritable Green on his own shoulder. The other boy said something, and advanced a step with his arms opened, and suddenly Esyn was in the air, the Bronze chasing a breath later. Jeb berated his friend as Esyn hissed at the Bronze, who was too close for her own comfort. However, she had failed to blood, and with the more experienced Bronze at her tail, it wasn't long before she was captured, and Jeb found himself willingly trapped in the arms of his first lover.

Not this time! A hiss escaped his lips and he felt anger at the thought of anyone catching him again. He would fly high and no silly male would be able to keep up! Large brown eyes flew open to watch Esyn escape from the lower caverns, a cook chasing after her with a knife in hand, yelling curses at her. Blood dripped from her maw, and W'nala quickly threw up a wall, blocking Esyn from his mind as much as possible. He watched as she climbed to the Rim and sounded a challenging call to the males who thought themselves worthy of sharing air with Her!

This time, Zafir's interest in the kitchens had been purely academic. Nothing to do with punishments at all. The head baker, whose name he tanded to forget, had invited him to come and see how thee oils he stripped from fish ealier in the month were being processed into the sweetly scented, and much thicker, oil used to rubbing on the hides of dragons and fire lizards alike. Kalt and Serrin, his queen and the smaller of his bronzes, were both in their usual perches, attracted by the smell of food and the chance that they might get a treat if they acted nicely for a little while.

All Z'fir could say for Cor was that he was outside, in the sun, and generally being annoyed and prissy. He suspected that it was because Kalt herself was ready to rise soon, in the next few weeks probably. Her hide was already putting off a disarming glow in the full sun. And, the larger lizard had never once caught his queen- for she was smaller than he was, and liked to prove it by doing turns he could never match. The more lithe body of Serrin always seemed to be the catcher, though really, it had only happened twice. And the first time, there hadn't even been a clutch!

It had also been dizzying, and Z'fir had made certain that everyone in a position to notice if he was absent had been made well aware of the fact that he usually hosted not one but three sides of a lizard mating flight. He would in no way be suitable for the outdoors on that day.

And then, the tenuous, lazy emotions that Cor was wafting off changed abruptly, becoming sharp, powerful and terribly familiar. Z'fir had enough time to realize that neither Kalt nor Serrin were moving, before he forced himself away from the table.

His room...wasn't too far... But, without the advance warning, it proved to be just that. Oh, he was still in himself, but the visions, the emotions, were so vivid, in his slow and quite twitchy quest to make it to his room unscathed, the boy nearly walked straight into three different walls.

And that was just to get him back into the sunlight. And by then, he wasn't sure if the anger, the jealousy, the drive to have, was his own or someone else's.

He found himself a crevice in the weyr's edge, in the bright heat of the sun, and simply dropped onto the sands. It wasn't as private as his room, but good enough.

And with that, he simply gave up, and let Kalt and Serrin nestle into him, slightly unnerved, slightly annoyed that their friend dare fly without them.

Far up, in the sky, Cor caught sight on a little green dart, flying faster than he could probably keep up, but that was alright. She was a tiny, tiny. He could just follow and wait. Eventually, she would tire...

Zaira was in her room putting sweet sands in her bath with Twitter on the other end in a little dip in the tub. He squaked immediatly and took off out of the window and into the sky. Zaira sucked in a breath as the feeling hit her from Twitter. Her little bronze was on his first flight after another. She jumped from the tub and ran to lock the door, grabbing a soft fur to keep herself decent. She was overly thankful that she had handed Kenny off earlier that day for her to have time to bathe. She pulled on some clothes and sat down on the floor by the window sill and watched her flit try to keep up with the green streek in the sky.

Sevina frowned. Harper, her huge brown was growling slightly, and she had a massive head ach. She had been pouring over old tithe records for hours. Suddenly a commotion out the plated window caught her eye. "Oh, no... Not again." She simmered in slight anger, but she knew it was from the combined lust eminating from both Harper and Buck.

Sevina, in a state of panic new she was safe enough from the arms of another. But she wanted to be sure. In a frantic plea she slammed the heavy door to the records room closed and listend in dismay as the bolt on the other side slammed down as well.

She would simply have Leniearth call someone to her rescue later. After the blasted flight. Finnished locking herself safely, she pushed two old furs to the ground, before flinging the window open to watch her two browns, one of whom she didnt expect to win, fly out to join the flight.

Buck was only just larger than a green Flit, and Sevina wasnt sure he could stay the whole flight, But Harper, the larger brown, nearly the size of a bronze would play nicely. Sevina was hoping anothers male would catch this friskly female. She wanted nothing to do with a potential clutch.

But she would not force her flits to not fly. It wasnt fair. Suddenly Her mind was pulled away from her body laying in the records room, She was in a pair of long thin wings. Seeing from a set of eyes not hers.

Sevina knew now that her bond with Harper was stronger than her bond with Buck. For it was Harpers mind she merged with.

Powerful wings beat the air, as flit after flit dove and swarmed, waiting for the green to tire or foolishly dive in the race.

Senka sighed. Need churped darkly from a high shelf where the female was hiding. "You'l have your own fun soon enough, you moody beast." Senka affectionately berated the green. Who simply hurumffed and closed her lids. Pretending sleep.

Zaira blinked and gasped as she was suddenly outside and very high in the sky. She clutched at the chair next to her before she realized she was looking through Twitters eyes. He dove stright towards the ground after the littler female. She held her breath and waited for him to right himself. The green turned to quick for him to turn as well and he was forced to loop around after the pesky little thing.

Stretched out on a rock overlooking the feeding grounds, basking in the warm sun, the wild blue was startled into awareness by a shrill call that was unmistakably from a green in heat. He was on his feet in a flash, crouched and sprung into the air, beating his blue wings to gain altitude as he located her shining green form and gravitated towards her. A raucous call burst from his throat, an answer to the green's challenge.

Also moving towards the green were two bronzes and two browns, all lizards that were larger than he was. For a blue, he was small, not even as large as the green that was rising, but he was also old and experienced; he had flown many greens in his lifetime and knew how tricky they could be, and though he did not have the stamina of the larger colors, he would be able to follow the green's maneuvers with ease.

Zaira growled along with Twitter as another flit joined the flight. Twitter dove again after the green as she went down again herself. Determined to catch her he bat his wings harder and faster. A hiss escaped his maw as her propelled after the littler flit.

Zafir was collected enough to recognize that at least half of the angry hiss filling his head was coming from his own mouth, and after a moment, he cut it short. Cor's own displeasure at his sudden company lasted longer, with a hint of red edging in on the wide purple of his lust filled eyes.

The image of his own queen passed through his mind, briefly, followed by an unrestrained jealousy. She was faster, faster than him, like this greeny body he chased fervently. Maybe her golden hide belonged to his clutchbrother, but this one would be his!

He shut his wings, and curved his body downward, picking up speed in a sharp dive. It would be easier to lift again once he'd reached the speed, than to lift and accelerate all at once.

Beside him, a brown body appeared, and Cor knew instantly that this was not his brother, and if this brown got in his way, talons would be used. No kindness for the unknown flitter would be shown. Another hiss burst from his throat, a warning to the lesser color. He did not expect it would work, and readied his claws, in case.

Esyn certainly flew fast, but so far didn't exactly display the typical wheels and turns of a Green. Ignoring her suitors, she raced as high as she could get, probably putting herself at more risk of getting caught without the use of the tricky acrobatics. The Bronzes were probably powerful enough to make the climb faster than her. The large circle finally ended as she reached the highest point she had ever flown to. Nothing impressive, but she was just a dot in the sky to W'nala, who was having a hard time of getting out of sight. The barracks were out of the question, but the only crevice nearby was occupied. If he hadn't been so taken over by the lustful flitter, he might have remembered Senda's words, and joined Z'fir. Instead, he found himself stumbling into the infirmary, and closing the door to the stock room behind him.

The little Green looked behind her, watching as Cor prepared to fight others, and an older Blue entered the group. Buck was a nice flitter, he had chased her in the Hatching Grounds before her bonded Impressed. The others seemed worthy to chase her as well. Yes, she was content with this grouping. Hissing when a couple of them got too close, she tucked in her wings and dove suddenly. Now she would make them work! Opening her delicate wings, she pulled up before losing too much altitude and found herself near the wild Blue. She crooned to him, flying in close in hopes of teasing the others.

Malla yelped as Lorn flew off her shoulder, leaving deep scratches. She raised her head to reprimand him, but he disappeared between - but not before she saw his eyes whirling with a colour she'd never seen before.
She sat down on her bed in the barracks, overwhelmed by an odd feeling, before she saw with Lorn's eyes what was going on...
Lorn appeared in the group of other males, flying faster than he'd ever flown but still not faster than the bronzes. He was young, and it was his first mating flight, but his instincts had taken over. He hissed as Esyn crooned at the wild blue, and his impossibly sturdy wings took him closer, back with the others.

Buck, seeing the blue stretching out his claws to entangle the green hissed and dove at the offending male. His tried to wing collided with the wild flit and send him in a spiral down. Buck himself lost a little altitude and was suddenly looking up at the lovely greens underbelly. He growled and hissed as another blue flew to near him. Startled the wild one popped away to between.

Pumping his wings to gain back what he lost, he saw another brown inter the race. He hissed but kept his distance. He knew he was small for a brown. But he made up for in size in maneuverability.

He was a couple of flit lengths away now, as she dove and hissed. He would fight this one. He loved to race, and he had raced her once or twice before.

Harper snarled at the bronze who dared hiss at him. He was no lightweight. His wingspan nearly matched the bronze. But the coy green had taken to diving and a male battle was not going to win him a mate. Flipping on wing tip he followed the green until his nest brother slammed into a blue not a wing tip away from him.

Harper with a disgruntled hiss climbed back after the green. His eyes a swirling mass of purple. He felt his bond mate in his mind slightly and he relished in the thought he was powerful enough to take her along in the ride.

Suddenly Harper caught sight of his prize, a dash of leaf in a sea of bronze, brown, and blue.

((._. Mini, wasn't that sort of a power play? I mean, you didn't even give my blue a chance to dodge.
and I think you're fine, Elizabeth.))

The little green was climbing up, up, up, so very high. The wild blue pumped his wings to try and follow her, but found himself falling behind the stronger colors. Realizing he was simply tiring himself, he evened out into a glide and waited patiently to see if the green would drop. It was a gamble, for if she stayed at the high altitude she was as good as lost, but if she dove down, he would then be in a good position.

Sure enough, the little green dropped and fell so very close to him. Her croon sent shivers down his spine and he trilled while swooping upon her to catch her. The other males were catching up, hissing angrily at him and threatening him, but it didn't matter.. He would catch this green...

Abruptly something collided with him and sent him spiraling off course and away from his prize. He squawked in surprise, but quickly regained his composure and shot back up. The brown may have been strong, but he was quicker! More agile! Dropping his jaw in a hiss, the blue spiraled around his offender - taunting him - and shot forward and out of reach. He wasn't out yet!

But, as much as the blue tried to ignore it, there was no denying the blow had hurt.

Twitter had pulled back and looped around from very high. He was waiting for the green to make another climb. If he could fly past and turn himself around quick enough while the air currents were messed up about the twitchy green he would have her. He saw his chance and dove as she climbed. He strightened out as she dropped again and he returned to his height. Waiting for her to climb again.
