Ever is my oldest RP character. I created him when I was about twelve, and have had him for the ~thirteen years since. HE HAS LIVED A DIFFICULT RP LIFE. Appearance▸▸▸ Build: Underfed, extremely skinny, almost dangerously so. He is not girly, but is slim, sharp angles. Boney. He is also on the tall side, about 5'11", with long arms and legs and big gangly hands and feet. ▸▸▸ Skin: Pale, and somewhat unnaturally so. It's a sickly sort of pale, more bleached than most people, but there is the occasional wash of color across his cheeks. ▸▸▸ Features: His face is sharp, with a pointed chin and a wide mouth. His nose is large, with a bend in the bridge like it was broken and improperly set. ▸▸▸ Eyes: Almond-shaped and black; not dark brown, not deep blue but black, like his irises have swelled up to swallow his pupils. ▸▸▸ Hair: His hair is a snow white, soft and fluffy like down. He keeps it cropped short, and it usually looks like a blind man took a pair of scissors to it. Fancy that. ▸▸▸ Hands: His hands and arms are scarred; a network of fine criss-crossing slashes that cover him from fingertip up his palm, fading out slowly up the insides of his arms almost to the elbow. ▸▸▸ Necklace: Ever always, 100% of the time, wears a slim silver lightning bolt pendant on a long piece of black cord around his neck. It may be tucked into his shirt, but it's always there. General Information▸▸▸ Ever is one of my oldest RP characters; he was invented first when I was 12 and he 13, a brilliant kid who was somewhat socially inept...much like me, at the time. xP His setting was always a modern world, one much like our own but with the addition of magic and magical creatures. Ever himself started out as an aspiring -- but talentless -- mage, who wanted nothing so much as to be able to perform great feats of magic. Much of his life [and thereafter] was caught up in the obsessive pursuit of magic, to the point where everything else faded into the background. This pursuit left Ever [then Julian] blind, scarred, friendless, and more than a little messed up -- basically ******** him up good in the way that any obsession will. And, before his 20th birthday, it also left him dead. Vampires in Ever's world generally follow the White Wolf system; Vampire: the Masquerade style. If you're familiar with the system, I played him as a Malkavian in several separate tabletop games; if you have no clue what I'm talking about, no worries. Basically, these vampires are dark, inhuman, somewhat creepy, have a dark monster inside of them that takes over when they're hungry, and do not under any circumstance sparkle. xP Ever's StoryMad props if you read through all this crap. ▸▸▸ If all of the below is too much for you to read, don't worry about it too much, please feel free to skip down to the next post. His history is long, involved, and comes off way more emo than it should when put in a linear fashion. I'll try to include summaries of important things in the following posts, so if you don't want to read a long story about a crazy pain in the a** gay vampire, that's okay ▸▸▸ If you have any other questions, or if you want to know more about ANYTHING, please just ask me questions! This is too long already, but I could go on for hours and hours about him. xD ▸▸▸ The BeginningJulian Ambrodiel is the name Ever used from the age of 12 to his death at 19. During this time he was living as the ward of an unusual sort of church in the boonies of Montana. There he studied both religion, under the tutelage of a missionary by the name of Sasha Grey, and magic [though he had no real talent for it], under the study of a priest named Timothy Ambrodiel. When he first arrived, he was young and awkward and looked nothing as he does now. His ancestry, Northern Cheyenne Indian, was more obvious: his skin was bronzy, his eyes a chocolate brown, his hair a fluffy almost-black that fell wild around his face. He was hungry for very little so much as books and learning, and totally immersed himself in everything. By the time he was 16, he was strongly considering [encouraged by Sasha] entering into Seminary to continue his religious studies. He had what he thought was an unshakable belief in God and the Bible. Around this time he'd also come to realize that he was surprisingly uninterested in women. Despite an on-and-off, innocent sort of quasi-relationship with a pretty paladin named Rose, it was obvious that he was gay -- not that he'd ever admit that. He was shy. Closeted, thoroughly. When he was 17, he learned that his father-figure and the source of his name, Timothy, wasn't who he thought he was. Timothy, supposed to be chaste and good, had on several occasions taken advantage of Sasha as well as other women in his church. Julian said nothing, but it fueled a deep, angry resentment and hatred. ▸▸▸ The AccidentSoon after, one of the magical spells Timothy was playing with went horribly awry. He'd been working with gems, attempting to create with them -- and had somehow caught himself inside of an emerald the size of a pinky nail. He came to Julian several times, in his dreams, to ask for help...but when he finally got his hands on the gem, Julian decided to smash it and kill Timothy instead of saving him. The resulting backlash bleached him white. It stole the color from his hair and skin, as well as his sight and, more importantly, his faith. Blind, lonely, lost, he spent the next few years trying to get magic to work for him. He committed blood sacrifice -- his own blood, from his own flesh -- to perform half-finished, fizzling spells, trying to prove the existence of God or to restore his sight. He ate little. He grew thinner, more frail, and sickly. ▸▸▸ End of DaysThis was about when Amory Blaine showed up and began to torment Julian. More information about Amory can be found in the supporting cast area -- but suffice to say that, despite the unhealthy not-quite-friendship they had, Julian developed something of a crush on Amory. In turn, Amory took a liking to him as well, and spent quite a lot of time tormenting, teasing, and big-brothering him in return. Amory's girlfriend disappeared when Julian was about 18, and Amory left Montana in search of her. Several weeks, maybe a month, and Julian followed him, using magic to determine his rough location and hitching a ride with a psychiatrist named Jerolin to NY. More info about Jero can be found in the Supporting Cast post. Jero thought he was crazy -- but that was part of what interested him. He let Julian stay with him, gradually going more frustrated and annoyed with the kid's stubborn unwillingness to talk about things and be less crazy. But Julian got the magic working and got out, found Amory in DC -- but Amory was all monster, out of his head, certain that Julian had been the one to kill his girlfriend, and accidentally killed him in the heat of the moment. ▸▸▸ DeathHe came to before the moment had passed, while Julian was still reeling and his heart sluggishly fighting with the last few beats, realized what he did, and immediately poured his own blood into it, turning Julian into a vampire against his will. The first weeks were rough, and only an kind of magical infatuation kept Julian tied to Amory, calm and alive and able to drink. Amory kept it together long enough to get Julian together, somewhat capable of keeping things in control, and then he disappeared again -- in search of his girlfriend or maybe just to hide out. This was when he stopped calling himself 'Julian' and moved to 'Ever' instead. He wormed his way into peoples' hearts and homes primarily by looking like a hopeless teenager [even though he'd died at nineteen, he looked several years younger], but sometimes through less savory means. He stole cash out of wallets in the morning, or played at peoples' charity on his way out. ▸▸▸ StasisEventually, he got good at working bars and clubs; on sneaking his way in, on getting drinks out of bartenders, and at relaxing into his skin -- and into his role as vampire. He got people to put him up for the night, Jerolin for stretches when he couldn't find anything else, though their relationship was a bit less platonic now. He drank too much. He took up smoking the same cigarettes that Amory always had, that obsession still lingering, and basically doing nothing with himself but indulging in people, various shallow relationships that were all short term and short-lived. He didn't change for a few years -- five, six? -- except to become less shy, less closeted, more cynical and more angry with the world. ▸▸▸ The TeacherSometimes, he chose the wrong place to sleep. His nightly haunt, one evening, recognized him for what he was -- and while he slept, dead to the world from sundown to sunup, tossed him into a thick sleeping bag and dragged him off to the care of a supernatural scientist as an offering. He woke up to the sterile smells of a laboratory, and the just-in-case weight of handcuffs tying one wrist down. Not as creepy as it could have been, though -- as Ray, the owner of the place, was more biologist than mad scientist. Once Ever proved not to be feral, he was allowed up and about, and in turn he was only too willing to indulge in a scientific study, if Ray was providing room and pay. Ray was also an ex-high school teacher, brilliant in his own right, and dryly self-confident. Something about him appealed to Ever, left him embarrassed with his own state, so he finally worked to change things. Invested less in booze and cigarettes and more in books on tape; less time in bars and more time at the library; investigated, loosely, into the potential of a job. ▸▸▸ HauntedExcept he came home one day to find Ray dead; killed by vampires, and with a lot of friends who were certain Ever himself had done it. He had to beat a hasty retreat [the smart bit of himself stealing what he could of Ray's to keep himself going], and it was a week or two before he saw Ray again -- really saw him, this time, the first thing to blur into his vision in a good 7 or 8 years. A ghost; a spook; Ray was incorporeal but still useful, and with the mystery of his death still up in the air and Ever on the border of two worlds, he was the easiest host for this spook. And with Ray still lingering, by now more than halfway in love with his ghost, he was able to pull it together some. Working for himself, he'd never been able to find a cure for his missing sight; with help, he got his hand on a pair of glasses that brought the world back into sharp focus, and looked into jobs at the local universities...

Julian "The Youth"▸▸▸ This category covers this character's life, from the age of twelve through the age of 19. If you'd like to read up extensively on Julian's history, and the important parts of his story, look into The Beginnig, The Accident, and End of Days in the About the Character post. If you'd prefer not to slug through that emo monstrosity of a story, just read the following! Specific Info▸▸▸ Mood and Attitude: When he was young, until about the age of 16-17, he was quite, earnest, shy, and bookish. After the accident, this slowly became skewed; Julian was dissolved into obsession and, perhaps, insanity. ▸▸▸ Appearance: General Appearance can be found in the About the Character post. If you draw him as a kid, remember that he's half Native American, with tanned skin, dark hair, and chocolate brown eyes. He only faded toward white after the accident. ▸▸▸ Clothing Style: Julian dressed simply; think about what might be donated to the church, or what might be bought for a couple dollars from the Salvation Army. Worn out jeans, shirts with holes in them, big comfortable sweaters, battered shoes or none at all. ▸▸▸ Setting: The town itself was tiny, rural, and unexciting, in southern Montana. Julian lived as a ward of a church that was small and battered, but the stained glass usually in tact. There was a small, old cemetery out back and gardens that mostly grew old trees and vegetables, as well as a small gingerbread style house attached in back for housing. The church also had a bell tower from which it was easy to access the roof, where several battered gargoyles still stood guard. Drawing Ideas▸▸▸ If you didn't read up on the full history, hopefully these blurbs will give you a creative idea on how to draw him! ▸▸▸ Character Studies: While cohesive scenes are much loved, I would love to see some normal illustrations -- portraits, waist-ups, full body, whatever you may have in mind. For Julian, it'd be wise to add several age-specific elements, such as a bible, a book of magic, a handful of precious gems, a ceremonial dagger, and a book. ▸▸▸ Studying: A shy, young Julian with dark skin and hair, with a book open across his knees, perhaps sitting on a pew or in a window to study. The book could be anything, as Julian had a healthy love for all knowledge. ▸▸▸ The Accident: If you feel adventurous, go for the accident itself; Julian smashing a rather large emerald, with angry green backlash sapping the color from his hair and skin and the sight from his eye. You could also draw him holding the gem, considering which course of action to take. ▸▸▸ After the Accident: Pale and washed out Julian sitting somewhere on the grounds, the gardens or inside the church itself or, perhaps, on the roof where there were several worn-down gargoyles. ▸▸▸ Dark Magic: Julian with slashed, bloodied hands and a ceremonial dagger performing some kind of magic. I leave the imagination of this totally in your hands. Most of the magic he did required blood to work, however, and he only ever used his own. ▸▸▸ Other Characters: Please feel free to include Sasha, Rose or Timothy in any of your entries. Sasha would be sisterly, teacherly, and totally platonic. Rose would be more of a middle school girlfriend, those quasi-relationships that were almost wholly platonic. Timothy might be teaching magic, or behaving in a mad-scientist way, or Julian may be watching him with barely-concealed dislike. More information about them can be found in Supporting Characters. Ever "The Cynic"▸▸▸ This category covers the transient time of his death, from the age of 19 through the age of about 25. If you'd like to read up extensively on Ever's death, and the important parts for this category, look into End of Days, Death and Stasis in the About the Character post. If you'd prefer not to fight with the jaded, stereotypical posturing of that bit of writing, just read the following! xP Specific Info▸▸▸ Mood and Attitude: Dryly cynical, sarcastic, and somewhat annoying; Ever had a hard time keeping his mouth shut during this era, and always had some smart comment on the tip of his tongue. It frequently got him in trouble. He seemed to care very little about anything, and could never really connect fully with anyone; there was a guardedness to his eyes. ▸▸▸ Appearance: General Appearance can be found in the About the Character post. However, during this time his hair could get rather long, almost to his chin, before he'd chop it off. It often tumbled forward to obscure his strange eyes. He's also likely to have a sarcastic smile on his mouth, mocking, and to keep his shoulders drawn up in a protective posture. ▸▸▸ Clothing Style: Black and white, almost exclusively, and the point of most of it to keep him dressed. Everything Ever owned was old and worn and shoved into a black shoulder bag he carried everywhere with him. His boots were ancient and black, steel toed docs held together primarily with duct tape. His boxers were the only bright color, purchased in some funny bulk package, covered in funny things like duckies or kisses or smiley faces. ▸▸▸ Setting: Bars and clubs. Ever spent almost all his time at somewhat sleazy clubs where it was easy to get lost in the crowd and drinks were cheap. Maybe smoking outside against the wall or on the curb, or on benches in the park, or sometimes at Jero's McMansion in a gated community in the suburbs of NY when all else failed. For this stage of Ever's death, it'd be wise to add several age-specific elements, such as a gin and tonic on the rocks [no fruit], his black shoulder bag, or a cigarette. ▸▸▸ Bar Scene: Ever with a bar behind him, drinking his usual -- gin and tonic on the rocks, no fruit. The bar should be dirty and trendy at the same time, if you can manage it, more style than substance. ▸▸▸ Smoking: Outside, working his way through a cigarette or a pack of cigarettes, regular or menthols, creative smoke interpretation a bonus! ▸▸▸ Silly Boxers: Draw him in some silly boxers of your own creation. ;D Potentially even boxers and his battered old boots. ▸▸▸ Other Characters: With Amory or Jerolin or potentially even Rose. Amory would be simultaneously protective and dangerous, hauling Ever off to do something insane. Jerolin would be stiff and somewhat baffled by him, potentially trying to get him to open up while Ever laughed at him. Rose would be hostile and angry with him while he would be snide and teasing; paladins and vampires are natural enemies. Also feel free to toss him in with a preferred male char of your own choosing, over the age of 18, as he would probably tap that. xP Existing Art▸▸▸ Art that you can use for inspiration. Ever "The Haunted"▸▸▸ This category covers Ever's recovery from Teh Emo, around the age of 25, and forward. If you'd like to read up extensively on Ever's growing up, his spook, and the important parts for this category, look into The Teacher and Haunted in the About the Character post. If you'd prefer not to read about laboratories and libraries and dead science teachers, just read the following! ;D Specific Info▸▸▸ Mood and Attitude: Something about Ever has started to open up again; he is willing to meet new people, discuss philosophy, learn new things, and look toward the future. He's able to relax and actually settle into routine some. He keeps his mouth shut, some of the time, instead of spewing every sarcastic comment that comes to mind. There is introspection. ▸▸▸ Appearance: General Appearance can be found in the About the Character post. However, during this time his hair is kept more tidily cropped, done by someone who can see it. He always wears a pair of glasses that can either be silver wire frame or thick black plastic. His is more prone to slow, honest smiles. ▸▸▸ Clothing Style: More put together; still primarily black and white and neutrals but with more care to them now. Still favoring torn, worn-comfortable jeans, but with nice and comfortable shoes and shirts that fit, now. Layers to hide the scrawny shape of his frame. He wears a lot of ties. ▸▸▸ Setting: Second-rate hotel rooms, libraries, university campus -- and still the occasional bar and club, of course, but with less reckless abandon, and places that are somewhat less sketchy. He still has to find blood somewhere, after all. For this stage of Ever's existance, it'd be wise to add several age-specific elements, such as a walkman tucked into his pocket, headphones in his ears, a chain wallet, or a handful of library books. ▸▸▸ In The Lab: In the starkness of a small at-home laboratory, taking blood pressure or on a treadmill or giving blood or just sitting on the edge of a doctor-style table. Interpret as you will. ▸▸▸ Book on Tape: Illustrate Ever listening to some book on tape -- he has a penchant for Dickens and science books and American History. ▸▸▸ High School Uniform: Yeah, don't ask. ;D Put him in a private high school uniform, white collared shirt, black pants and grey blazer with a crest on the pocket and a blue tie. Shiny black shoes. Hair as combed down as possible. ▸▸▸ At Work: He might be tutoring one student or a handful, probably at French, Latin, Christian Mythology, or maybe even math. If you'd like, he could even be tutoring yours! ▸▸▸ Haunted by Ray: Be creative with illustrating that Ray is a ghost for bonus points, or tie him to Ever in some way. Ray might be more toward protective/fatherly, might be amused, or might be more directly affectionate. Existing Art▸▸▸ Art that you can use for inspiration. Click for full size.

Amory Blaine▸▸▸ Amory is an average height, around 5'9", and pretty in an ancient way; people who look at him are reminded of aristocrats of once-upon-a-time, and there is something very sharp and European about his features. His skin is pale in an unnatural sort of way, vampire-pale, that is made so much worse by the pitch black of his hair. His eyes are a bright, vibrant, mad sort of green that seem always to be laughing and mocking. He wears simple clothes, jeans and t-shirts and leather jackets tossed over it all. He is brilliantly smart, in a cutting kind of way, a sharp insight into what makes human beings tick. He also is quick on his feet, clever, and old. He claims that he was around when the Roman's were, and Ever might actually believe him, but this is almost certainly exaggeration. He is a hundred years old or perhaps two - a slight chance he's even older than that, but there's really no way to tell. Because Amory is also crazy. When he's himself, settled into his own skin, he's ruthless and manipulative and has absolutely no issues with lying or half-truths or breaking someone's trust. He's only settled into his own skin perhaps a week out of every month, sometimes stretching him longer [if there's something holding him to earth]. The rest of the time, he dissolves into a disjointed alternate reality, perhaps, babbling incoherently about things that are terrifying and depressing, lonely and not connected at all to his surroundings. Raymond Saijirou▸▸▸ Raymond Saijirou is 6'1” with comfortable shoulders, long fingers, and slightly too long hair. He wears glasses, usually rectangular half-frames in some metal, and he has a streak of white in his very black hair that starts over his right eyebrow and goes all the way back. He wears slacks and turtlenecks, sometimes with a jacket over it, sometimes with a white lab coat. Ray is smart, but it's a broad kind of knowledge; he's lost count of how many degrees he has, but there's at least one doctorate and for a while he was teaching chemistry and physics in a private highschool somewhere in Kansas. He is not-quite obviously the blending of two very different cultures; his mother was Issei, and his father was a first-generation Irish immigrant. He has his father's eyes, a green that most people would call myrtle, if they had to use a color wheel, and his mother's very black hair. Like her, his hair is all black-- except for the single streak of white, which merely seems to widen as he gets older. He can be kind and helpful, and usually will be, if you need the help. But he has a 'scorched earth' policy when it comes to enemies, of which he doesn't have many left. You don't reach the venerable old age of fifty something without outliving quite a few of them, after all. His usual expression is some kind of mildly satisfied smile; not that that's what he really feels, but that's what he wants you to think he feels, so you won't be looking for anything else. Magus Timothy Ambrodiel▸▸▸ Timothy is middle-aged, black hair already gone salt-and-pepper with age, overweight enough to look big and pompous but with laugh lines at the corners of his eyes to take the edge off. His eyes are a sparkling, rich brown. He is not very tall. He also emits bright cheer all the time, filling a room with good humor. It's like he is always laughing and causes the people around him to do the same. He should come off happy and bright and excited and just a little bit mad. He has an office in the bottom of the church, full of crazy magical experiments. These should have a steampunk feel to them, and should use a lot of precious gems in their workings. Rose Cain▸▸▸Standing at just over five feet, slim and athletic, Rose has long black hair that is stick-straight and ice blue eyes. She speaks in a soft tone of voice; when it reaches normal volume, this means that she is yelling. This doesn't happen often. Generally she murmers, her tone a soft piano. When it comes to critters and crawlers and supernatural beasties, Rose is tough as nails. She has had extensive training with an order of supernatural hunters, making her quite capable when it comes to hand to hand, as well as a natural talent with a sword -- she's good enough to have earned the title 'Rose Dragonslayer'. She does NOT employ any kind of magic - she believes it to be evil, and one of the biggest issues she had with Ever was his dabbling into this area. Rose is hugely asexual. It has been speculated that she likes women, but if she does, this is something she is struggling to suppress. She has little life, outside of her work. She is kind and good, but always distant and disconnected from the world around her. In her youth, she was good and sweet; as she gets older, she is fanatical, obsessive and crazy. She smiles, but it doesn't touch her eyes. Sasha Grey▸▸▸ Sasha's original plan was to join a convent; however, instead she turned to missionary work on the edge of a reservation in Montana. Approximately 5'5" and slender, with long brown hair usually held back in a red bandanna, hazel eyes behind huge gold-framed glasses, skirts that brush past her ankles, Sasha is...mousy. Pretty and sweet and cheerful. Young [just at thirty], and looks younger. She is fundamentally nice. She is fundamentally good. She is soft-spoken and expects the best of everyone. Jerolin Bishop▸▸▸ Jerolin stands at 6'3", with short blond hair and pale blue eyes, tanned skin, a square jaw, a bowflexed-figure. He takes great care in his appearance and with good cause - he is quite attractive. His clothing is incredibly stylish, with several-hundred dollar shoes, designer labels, expensive haircuts. One only has to look at him to acknowledge that he is, in fact, gay. He is controlling and self-confident, one might even say arrogant. He smiles at everything, and takes most things with a grain of salt - but when he's pushed far enough, he comes down hard and fast. He has gone so far as to put several people out of business with a ruthlessness that can't be matched. It was extremely hard for Jerolin to come to grips with the fact that Ever had done magic; harder still to get that he was a vampire. Jero is not likely to accept anything supernatural at face value, he will have to be convinced - but at least these days he might be open to the existence of things outside his old set of beliefs.
