Role Playing is an art form used to act out a character with imaginative description in a time, place, and setting. By role playing, one steps out of there normal reality and immerses them self in a world that basically has no bounds.

The reason I say basically is because Role Playing(RP) some etiquette rules depending on the persons whom one rps with. For this guild, the rules are decently tight. Not everyone has etiquette when they rp, but everyone can learn if they try.

To help, I have posted several examples of RP "rules" and how to express particular emotions.

--------------------------------Speaking--------------------------------------
So some people like to rp with a crude way of letting them know that there character is talking.


My point has been made. typing like you have just learned to eat Cheerios is not going to be acceptable in rp chat.
Now, the only exception to speaking in ANY kind of short hand is when one wants to express a character of low intellect.

But even then there is a lot wrong with the sentence from earlier.
1. WHEN A CHARACTER SPEAKS THERE IS ALWAYS QUOTATIONS AROUND THEIR LINE. "SENTENCE"
Example:Character:Low intellect, while remaining within etiquette boundaries.


Now if you notice, I purposely misspelled some words. This was to give the character a type of accent, but I still maintained a type of etiquette to keep my character's line from seeming untamed.
2. Always use correct spelling(Character dependent) and grammar(Also depending on the character).


---------------------------------Actions and Thoughts-------------------------
Actions and thoughts are sometimes necessary to portray particular events, feelings, or ideas. Actions make your character do anything, while thoughts give away specific events, or tell a story without words so to speak.
Example: A bird in its nest thinking and acting only:

The bird was obviously mad, but did you notice how the words were italicized? Gaia has enabled us to utilize a specific coding feature that lets us italicize our thoughts or anything else. If one doesn't know how I will explain, but for those who refuse to code it can also be done like this:


3.Thoughts are always italicized or placed within -'s or ~'s.

The actions in the above stories are fairly easy to grasp. One basically types what the character is doing at each point and time.

-------------------------------Rules of RP---------------------------------------
1.Out of Character
Out of Character(OOC) is speaking in an rp chat outside of the story , actions, or out of the character(gasp?!). One uses OOC when they need to express something URGENT and only then.
Lets use our bird story from earlier:


Now the problem with the above is that the rper(me) didn't use () around my OOC. OOC is widely accepted if used right.

4.Out Of Character must always have ()'s around its line.

2.God moderators.
God moderators(God mods, god modding) are people who like to run the story their own way. Usually, a god mod likes to throw there ego in with their story
Observe:

Woa woa woa! Super nova wtf? No one in rp can fight like they are superman ok? Everyone in rp has just a fair chance as the other.

Just like a fight rp, one can not control any aspect of a character. One may grab a character and run away with them, but one can not say that another persons character went somewhere.


The only exception is in predefined stories.
