.........The world she is born to
.............Is tough,cruel and miserable.
.........But she remembers the words so wise
............"Our souls are strong and durable."
.........The pain of loss and sorrow
............Is a hard burden to bear.
.........But she knows the feeling passes,
............And that hope is a strength so fair.

..With one last look at the world
.....She is sealed within herself.
..With one last thought she closes her eyes:
....."I ne'er forget myself."

.........Now,after so long,she is ready
.............To break free of the shell she's become.
.........And she knows she must be strong
.............For the task ahead as it comes.
.........She knows from pain we gain the strength
.............To win life's toughest battles.
.........But she wonders what she gains
.............For it seems her battle's over.

..Does she not know that from her struggle
.....She'll gain the strength to go on?
..She's about to give in,she's about to give up,
.....She can't keep this up for long.

.........But just when it seems
.............She can't fight anymore,
.........She opens her wings
.............And she soars.

I have to say; I love this poem. The emotion drew me in and made me seriously empathize with the character. Kudos!

I'm glad you all liked it;your opinion is much appreciated. And Alanora;it's good you empathized with the character, because that would be me! xd

I always did like the Phoenix.

Funny thing is;I was actually talking about a butterfly.... :XP: Just one of those days....

I used a butterfly to describe this experience of mine because of my ex-girlfriend;she always called me her butterfly. Butterflies are a symbol of transformation and perseverance, and she always thought that suited me perfectly. So I took the idea to write this from that. I titled it 'Phoenix' 'cause..... well..... I felt like it,really. Figured it was a pretty accurate comparison at the time. Don't know how I feel about that now... Still;the title stays the same because, quite frankly,I said so.
End of sugar-powered speech! ^_^
