  Yeah they ******** suck. I spent 5 hours in there holding my friend's hand while she was in intense pain. Everyone there was bitchy and completely unhelpful. She had an inflamed liver because of food poisoning from a while ago. Yeah, she was in paaaaiiin.
One funny thing was we were in this curtained off area and up the hall I hear this guy say "I know this hurts sweetheart but I've got to press it here because it just keeps squirting out." I was like whuut the fuuuckk? Then this bed rolls by with an elderly lady with a giant bleeding gash on her forehead and the guy that was talking was holding a rag to her forehead.
So yeah, anybody got any entertaining ER stories? Or complaints about how ******** up hospitals are?

I had to have emergency sugery on my left leg once. I broke it and had to have two metal rods inserted into the bones to keep it stable while it healed, because a cast alone just wouldn't cut it. They had to knock me out to test if a cast would do anything. I remember waking up to the sound of the head surgeon saying "would you stop pulling it up and down like that? You're going to cut his damn leg open! Oh for christ's sake, give it here!" Apparently the nurse had never cut a cast off before. If anyone has ever had a cast, they should know that the saw they use to cut it off is designed to be used in a single scooping motion so that it doesn't risk cutting the skin. This nurse was apparently using the saw like a steak knife and just dragging it back and forth.
The room I was put in for the two days of recovery was right down the hall from the pstchotic ward where they put all the mentally unstable patients. There was one night where my roommate and I heard this guy screaming "OH GOD THEY'RE KILLING ME! SOMEBODY HELP! THEY'RE MURDERING ME!" It was both creepy and kinda funny at the same time.

A few weeks ago i went in 'cause of a 2 hour panic attack >>;
They were completely unhelpful. It was like i was such an inconvenience to all them. The doctor came in and was asking what was wrong etc etc, and i told him what was going on, what i thought it might be and all this other stuff, because i don't trust them...And he could obviously give a rats a** 'cause he kept interrupting me and not answering my questions. Ionly saw him like, twice; for a total time of about 6 minutes.
._.
They did an xray, electrogram and blood test. So they had set the iv up, and the nurse took some blood (meaning like...three vials of the s**t) and then a few minutes another one came back saying they didn't get enough.
stare
Not amused, but alas nothing could be done...so she took the other arm and shoved a needle in trying to find the vein, but missed. How the ******** you miss my veins is beyond me. I'm practically transparent, and my veins are huge. She even commented on how easy it would be. o.O;
But blah blah blah, the doctor came back after all the test stuff and just told me i was fine, and that my blood sugar was a little high. And that was it. Now i have to pay about 6k for their shitty services when i have no money. Which they knew. So they were like 'since you're uninsured you get a 30% discount on the total fee, and if you pay that within a month we'll take another 20% off...or some bullshit like that. YEAH, because i'm UNINSURED I can pay off 4-6k in a month. Like i have that kind of money.

^Your experience reminds me of a few other insidents that occured while I was in the hospital
1. When the ambulance came to pick me up after breaking my leg, they forgot the stretcher and had to call another ambulance in. How the ******** do you forget a stretcher!?
2. I had Helga the Horrible for a nurse on the second night. She came in because the doctor wanted me to try and move around to see how well I could perform with my leg bundled up. I should note that they couldn't put a cast on me until a month after the surgery, and if I put any pressure on my leg it would break again because of how bad I had ******** it up. Well, I got up with the help of the nurse and manage to hobble around the room for a few minutes. But when it came to getting me back in bed and propping my leg up, the b***h nurse started to get impatient with how slow I was moving and just dropped my leg back into the sling thing they had set up for me.
3. When I returned to the hospital six months later to have the rods removed from my leg, they chose to nock me out with some sort of liquid that they had to inject into my blood stream. The only problem was hey couldn't find a vein in either of my arms. The nurse stabbed me six times in each arm before they gave up and decided to just gas me. The one time she managed to find the vein, she pushed the needle in too far and burst it.
I really hate hospitals....

@HOOWUZFONE: Yeah, unhelpful, couldn't give a rats a**, expensive as all hell.... yup sounds like modern healthcare professionals. >.<"
@Harlequinn: o.o" They... forgot the stretcher?! I'm kind of shocked but still laughing my a** off. That must have sucked so bad! I bet the stupid EMTs just had buttsex and made a bloody mess they didn't have time to clean up so they were like "What stretcher? I don't see any stretcher... guess we'll have to get you another ambulance!" =P
The b***h of a nurse that got the blood from my friend totally waved the needle around in my friends face after my friend said she had a phobia of needles. So my friend started hyperventilating and shaking. The nurse then proceeded to ******** up the simple procedure dropping the tube, joggling the needle that's in her arm, squirting blood everywhere (resulting in a small puddle), and ultimately having to repeat the whole thing so she could get it right.
