A lot of people have tried that and sometimes we see it happening in the MP.
I might work for a little bit but once people see the inflated price they start selling their own. The MP gets flooded and the prices go back down.
It doesn't work long-term and it ends up making people really mad at those responsible.

I don't think it's obvious that someone bought them all. Someones (plural) bought them.
As the Gaian player base grows, even less popular limited items tend to go up in value. That's because there are more people, but no similar growth in the number of these items. So even if they're less popular, with enough people, some people will like them, and eventually they get sold.
Like Lupas Deva said, AI is a bad idea. Because no matter HOW rich you are, it's still nothing compared to everyone else's Gaian wealth all pooled together. So it may take awhile, but eventually they will win.
I would not put too much stock in the average price. It's a good finger in the wind if you've never vended an item, but, especially for older items, it can move a lot more slowly than the actual price. And it doesn't matter what the item sold for yesterday or two weeks ago - when you're vending an item, the only thing that matters for your current sale is what the item is priced at RIGHT NOW.
Which is why knowing the items you deal in and their price points is vital.

moyga Lupas Deva A lot of people have tried that and sometimes we see it happening in the MP. I might work for a little bit but once people see the inflated price they start selling their own. The MP gets flooded and the prices go back down. It doesn't work long-term and it ends up making people really mad at those responsible. haha, people shouldnt get mad! the people who had their MCs higher up on the lowest price list would get their item bought.. and i also thought.. what if some really rich person put an MC like angelic microphone on the MP for 1 mil on a mule, and then bought it on their main for the 1 mil. they would lose 200k but the average buy price would sky rocket right? Isnt this kind of HOW long term, non-changing items go up in value? like i remember when the panda hat cost much less then other MCs that were newer than it.. but then someone obviously bought them all.. and now they are super rare =/ Once again it doesn't work out long term. And you'll be losing everytime you sell to yourself.
If you wish to try then keep logs of how many times you sell it. How much gold you lose, and how long it takes you. Also keep track of your profits if you manage to sell one.
Item: Buy: Sell: -2% tax:
Overall Profit:
BTW I don't condone artificial inflation (AI) but I do condone learning from your mistakes.
