Alright, listen up now because I really won't be saying this again. Welcome to the SHIBUSEN Missions department. Here, you will find information on how the Missions work, and what SOULS actually are.
If you are looking to sign up for a mission, visit the board.
There are 4 tiers of mission difficulties. You can only take on missions that are ranked the same as you are. (One, two, three, or four stars. Once you hit four stars you'll only be needed for special 4 star missions.) Also, you can only take on one solo mission at a time but you can also be in two active group missions as well. Whenever Meta-plot missions happen everyone is free to join regardless of mission standings. The amount of souls you'll receive from a successful mission will be listed, but that doesn't take into account any... "accidents" that may happen during the course of your mission.
For all the one star ranked missions you'll be accompanied by one or two staff from the missions department. This is a precaution that SHIBUSEN has set in place to make sure that you don't die, so I don't want to hear any complaining! Once you reach two star rank, the faculty will only accompany you on some occasions. Two star missions that require staff guidance will be marked as such. Three star ranked Technicians and Weapons should never need faculty guidance - if you do, it means you're not doing your job well enough.
How the Missions will work:
You will accept your mission from the department mission board. A staff member will start your mission thread with the tag "[MRP]: player name - mission name" The first post will have your cert and any items you may be holding on to so make sure you get any items you want to use BEFORE the mission starts. Depending on whether you'll have a faculty member with you for the mission or not there may or may not be a short intro post there as well. After that you'll need to make your first post. (If no faculty are present in your mission you'll need to start the mission.) A staff member over see your mission, giving prompts and introducing the antagonist, meaningless side characters *ahemASHLEY*, and props where needed.
The shape and path of the missions will form based from RP. All that is set before it starts is where it takes place, the target of your mission, and how many souls it will give you. (Though as I've said, this can change for better or worse based on the direction the RP goes.)
The missions serve as shorter, prompt-based RP sessions to have your character develop and progress in "level", and of course to collect souls for growth.
Posts and Rolls:
The average One Star Rank mission will only require 2-3 posts from the player. In the end your success or failure will be based on statistics and chance (also known as a dice roll). For instance, a one star ranked mission would only have one dice roll at the end. You'll roll a 10 sided die - rolling 2-10 will mean mission success, and rolling a 1 will be a mission failure, though it is possible that a SHIBUSEN staff member might step in a help you (in the form of a chance to re-roll).
In more advanced missions there will be several times to roll, some more crucial than others. For a more in depth explanation on that see below. However, if more than one soul is available to be picked up from the mission, then you will have the chance of capturing a soul despite the mission failure.

For Missions:
One star rank: --- One dice roll, 10 sided, 9/10 odds (90% chance of success) --- 2-10 is success, 1 is fail
Two star rank: --- Two dice rolls, 10 sided, first roll happens somewhere during the rp: odds are 8/10, --- The final roll for mission success at the end is 7/10 if you failed the mid-roll, or 8/10 if you succeeded. --- 3-10 is success, 1&2 is fail --- If the first roll failed, then the second roll will be 4-10 success, 1-3 fail --- There is a possibility of a third roll, if your second roll is successful after your first roll failed.
Three star rank: ---Three dice rolls, 10 sided (may change), two rolls during rp with 6/10 odds, final roll would be either 6/10, 7/10, or 8/10 depending on how previous rolls go.

The Effects of Soul Resonance:
Soul Resonance is one of the most powerful abilities that a well-matched WEAPON/TECHNICIAN pair can achieve. We have already mentioned that in order for a WEAPON and a TECHNICIAN to pair together, their wavelengths must match. This is a manifestation of the synchronization, in the form of an attack.
As the pair becomes better acquainted and moves up in the ranks, the effectiveness of their Soul Resonance will also increase.
One star rank: --- Your pair is still too new to be able to perform this ability. There are no rolls for Soul Resonance at this point.
Two star rank: --- Before the actual attack roll (as explained in the previous post), roll one 20-sided dice. --- Rolling a 20 means the ability succeeds - in this case, add 20% success rate to your next attack roll. (this means that if you rolled a 2 with your 10-sided dice, the roll counts as a 4) --- Rolling a 1 means the ability failed terribly - in this case, minus 20% success rate to your next attack roll. --- Rolling anywhere from 2-19 means it didn't work. Continue as normal. --- Soul Resonance can only be used once per mission, once every three missions. --- You must have at least ten souls before you can attempt Soul Resonance
Three star rank: --- tba.

Using Items in Battle:
Items can be obtained (illegally) from CLASSROOM #7. While some of them have no effect on Missions, there are a few that will alter your battle in various ways.
Each item will come with a description of what it does, and the restrictions on use.
Items that can be used for a particular Mission must be "brought along" to the Mission. Depending on the type of item, it will either be automatically brought along, or must be presented in the Mission Pick-Up thread when you are accepting the mission. Multiple-use items that are slotted into your cert will be brought along automatically, Single-use items that are in your inventory must be posted in the thread.
Your inventory can be found on the first post of your journal. Using a Single-use item will cause it to disappear from your inventory. If you bring the item along, but don't use it, then you can save it for next time. (Don't worry, the staff will keep track of this.)
Please note that there are limitations on how many Single-use items you may bring:
--- Rank 1 cannot use items. --- Rank 2 can only bring one Single-use item --- (Rank 3 tba)
In order to use the item that you have brought along, you must let the staff member in charge of your mission know beforehand. To do this, RP pulling out the item, or mention that you would like to use it, and the staff will inform you regarding what to do next (eg how to roll, or what the item can do for you.)
Below you can find a list of all existing Missions items and their stats.
List of Single-use Items and what they do:
--Item: Lucky Flask --Usage: Single-Use --Function: Missions --Effects: Sometimes it causes the dice to split - resulting in two dice! --(On use: roll 10-sided dice, 1-4 FAIL, 5-10 SUCCESS. Success - roll 2 10-sided dice instead of 1 for your attack roll.)
--Item: Metal Dust --Usage: Single-Use --Function: Missions --Effects: The Dust enhances your WEAPON's power momentarily, giving them extra strength. --(Adds +1 to any roll - must be used/consumed before the roll.)
List of Multiple-use Items and what they do: --- n/a
