Religion is a major part of most people's lives. I was wondering what religions are followed in this guild. I myself am Catholic. But the type doesn't really matter just so long as you believe.

But there are some people that I like to call the Religious, well, Nutjobs. I've met a few and they're crazy. One preacher visited my friend's church, and thank the good Lord that I wasn't ther or I'd 've gotten PO'ed, and said that rock music was Devil music and the color black was evil. Now I LIKE to listen to rock music and wear the color black just like my dad. He would have thought I was the she-devil sitting in a church right in front of him.

Now I'd like to point out that there are black shirts that Christians like to wear. It goes with everything so really? Some people like to be that way like me but I know in my heart what I am. I like rock music. There are Christian rock bands out there like Skillet. All their songs are about God and life so how is that so wrong and Anti-Christian?

Mainly discuss anything in this post please.

Well, you've gotten the second of the "big two" that you don't talk about in public in this guild. The first, of course, is the real nature of this guild.

I'm more of a Pentecostal Christian (and relatively new), I go to a very small Assemblies of God church that actually is meeting in the community center for the time being.

I don't know that much about the Bible, but if anybody here does, could you tell me if rock music is specifically mentioned in either the old or the new testaments, or the colors one must wear?

"Big two"? What are you talking about in those first two sentences?

Yes I've heard of the Pentecostal. My mother is a Baptist so I go there as well.

No it doesn't say but they think it's devil worship which is not tolerated in the Bible.

They say you should never discuss politics or religion in public (though I don't know who "they" are).

Selfishness though, serves Satan's purposes more than hardcore Satanic worship.

Oh that explains things for me then. My dad does anyway with his patients. Like today he was talking to a black girl and she even said she doesn't like Obama and his screwed up veiws.

They are the preachers that are extremely narrowminded.

Yes selfishness is that bad. I just really think that some people need to be more open-minded with the kids in church that like alternative things. They don't look at the other "good kids" in church that text during the sermon and listen to rap music. Then those same kids go out with their boy/girlfriend and get drunk or do drugs and then most of the time wind up pregnant.

Of course, I don't have much room to talk. My walk... well, you really couldn't call it a "walk", and I take complete responsibility for not reading my copy of God's Word and talking to Him more.

Like Glenn Beck, I too am LDS. I don't always make it to church, though, especially when it's at 9 a.m. I am not a morning person.

As for not discussing religion in public, I don't think it's bad. I went to a charter school, and discussing religion was a norm. Also, even though I live in Utah, LDS was in the minority of religions. Atheism and Agnosticism were the norms.

Some days it is difficult for me and my dad to go. My brother can't because he is Autistic and my mom is the only one that can manage him and keep him calm. It takes awhile to get to the churches around here but I am still very close with the Baptist preacher Dr. Lundy. In the paper he has a segment he always does every week called Lundy's Lines. I went to a Christian Academy for a year and the kids were downright cruel there because I was different. They also thought I was a lesbian even though I am not. Though I have no problem with people that are.
