In studying the ten commandments I have never found anything in them that would hurt mankind. But yet we have strayed so far in the opposite direction and at a ecelarated speed outside of GOD I don't see any solutions for the next few generations or do you agree. If not are there any suggestions? What are your thoughts?

We, as a race, desire to know what is the benefit of trying something or doing something bad. We also sometimes desire a consequence, even if it would be a negative consequence. Hence why many people enjoy drinking in America, for so long they could not drink because it was illegal. So before or after they are 21, they choose to drink it because they want to know about it, and then they enjoy the consequences of it initially, even if the long term consequences are horrendous.
Everybody enjoys the short term consequences, because that's when we feel the best about what we've done. The long term always make us feel rotten though.

I've never had a desire for negative consequences for myself after doing something bad; now that I don't understand. If I eat a ton of iceream in a weeks time I would only want the good taste and not the after affect of weight gain or other pain my body might suffer as a result.

I never wanted to suffer the consequences of my bad actions , If I eat a ton of icecream in a weeks time, I only want the pleasure not the weight gain or suffering my body might experience afterwards. I don't understand the desire of consequences for myself.

quietstorm 2 In studying the ten commandments I have never found anything in them that would hurt mankind. Several of them can hurt mankind, if they're adhered to blindly - 'honor your father and mother', especially (unless it's not referring to ones biological parents, which is plausible, to me).

Now that one is a tuffy according to what I just read. I was always taught to me as honor your mother and father in the LORD. Considering the state of mind some of the parent's are in today, that can be difficult. I can see where honor and obiedience can clash for a minor child.

I'm not a religious person but I believe that the Ten commandments are a good basis for our laws to be based off of, I also dont think that people have strayed to far from them, the media just tends to show more of the negativity in the world then the positive.
