past:: He was adopted as an infant by a second-generation Chinese immigrant her Jewish husband, which he insists had absolutely nothing to do with the problems in his young adulthood. He attended private Jewish academies and aspired to be a translator, studying Arabic, French, Spanish, and Japanese in high school and college. When asked, he will not be able to pinpoint the exact moment in which he got involved in heavy narcotics, but he slowly dropped into the life of a heroin addict and left school, living out of his car rather than burdening his parents. His savior came in his 20s, and he has since gone to rehab, moved to Sacramento, and happily calls himself "permanently recovering".

Andrew was addicted to heavy narcotics and alcohol, slowly dying in dingy alleyways
with a tourniquet around his arm. Perhaps 7 months after dropping out of college,
he was found one night by an old fraternity brother, Harley, and brought to
his apartment. For two years, Andrew was fed, clothed, and supported through
violent withdrawals and relapses. One night, Harley did not return home, nor did he
the next day. What exactly happened is unknown, but Harley's body was found
slumped in an alley that Andrew was far too familiar with, afflicted with multiple stab
wounds and a gun shot to the head. Andrew was inspired to go through rehab then,
if not only for the friend who had done so much for him and who he truly believes
died doing some sort of good work for Andrew's benefit.

and the fact that Andrew is committed to his recovery ('no more')

-Harley's name surrounded by the Shield of David places him in god's protection
upon Andrew's arm, and the Greek symbols are for the fraternity which they
were both a part of (sigma pi omega), symbolizing their eternal
bond.

Auuugh, I do have to say, you have done a good job on his background. HE SOUNDS LIKE HE NEEDS SOME HUGS AND COOKIES AND D:

He seems pretty well developed and believable, and...the above mentioned e3e; I do like the meanings behind the tattoos quite a lot, especially the double meaning of "know more" :3 The only thing I can think of would be to go more in depth of what he's like after the Harley incident?

Would be interesting to see what he does with a kid xD
