When you put your thread away, where do you put it? How do you categorize your colors?
I finally bought a bobbin winder yesterday and it saved my wrists a lot of wear. I have two small craft organizers and I'm trying to arrange the floos according to a hex chart.... Doesn't translate well into 17 pockets. sweatdrop
But it's so fun nesting into my new organizers! I'm even making a tiny pincushion to fit into one of the pockets! heart

Mine are all on Bobbins (I've begun to like the plastic ones a LOT better than the paper ones my mom always used), and are sorted by number. White and Ercu, then numerical order - 150 on up (3800-some? I think?)
I actually have three different floss boxes - one larger one and two small ones. Most of the time, I will put all the floss I need for a particular project into one of the smaller boxes - and I'll see if I can't stick scissors, a needle holder, threader (in case I need it), and even my stitch chart in the longer open compartment. That way, everything stays together. heart
It's usually a lot easier to organize the floss by color - I'm pretty sure DMC gives the floss those numbers for that reason. So when the pattern calls for 307 - I can look and tell right away whether I have that or not (it's a yellow, I think - gosh I'm sad to know that.). All I have to do is check in number order where 307 would be. whee

I use rings and bags. (I dont know the exsact name but each thread has its own bag and you just write the number of the thread on the bag then slide them on these rings so you have all your thread in order) i have to differant rings. the first one is white - 800 and the second one is 900 - 38-- its more of an older system but thats what my mother used when she was a teenager and when she gave me all her cross sitching stuff i just didnt bother to change it to another system. you can buy the bags a rings at walmart and their not that exspencive so its just a cheep way to orgonize your threads whee

I do the exact same thing as you jojo_da_crow. I have about three of those boxes filled with my stash floss, and then when I work on a specific project I have one filled with all my floss for that project and my blending filament, Kreanik thread, Thread Heaven, needle threader, etc. just like WakayamaManami. It works pretty well and makes the project I am working on more portable.

well, your ways might be way more organised than mine. I cut out card board or poster board and cut thin slot in it and label them what color they are. then I also saved an OLD bead case, which I place colors and stands that aren't in use. The board usually contains, the thread that are in use.

I need to find a better way to organize my stuff. My skeins of thread are on these "mastercards" in no particular order other then "this was the last color I used.
And then everything is just packed into this small cardboard box with a flip open top.
