Between Dark and Stalker - Vincent Valentine and Rayne Rayne stared into the clear water. She was alone again. Not that she minded too terribly, but she missed her family. The brother that abandon her and her mother. The mother that praised her very existence, and the Fa who saved her little sister. Even her little sister who padded around her all the time, though she barely knew her. With a heavy sigh, she looked around the area - not seeing much of interest.

Vincent sighed. All this Cloud and Ellie mushy s**t is getting annoying. Love was overrated. That's what he told himself, anyway. Deep down he knew he was lonely and wanted someone like Cloud had Ellie. As he moped in his own denial, he was suddenly thirsty, and trotted tot he nearest water source. As he approached, he noticed a black wolf at the water as well.

Ears flicking, Rayne spun her head around to see a wolf with a tattered red cape and shiny gold boots with a claw. She cringed without meaning to; her father had a claw, too...though more terrifying. She wasn't sure if she should say anything to him, but decided she'd at least say "Hello" before staring back into the smooth water. Her voice was laced with strength, though underneath, if one was really paying attention, loneliness drenched it.

Vincent stared at her as she cringed as the sight of him. I'm not that scary, am I? Sheesh. He huffed a dull "Hi.", not hearing the loneliness in her voice, simply because he wasn't listening, or cared. His mumbled word was obviously bothered though, but expected her not to ask about it as he got a drink, though secretly, he wanted her too... He hated to admit it to himself though, so denied it. Whether he wanted to tell himself or not, he needed to talk to someone.

Too bothered herself to ask about anything, she continued to stare into the water with sad eyes - it didn't matter if someone else was here just to pass through - Rayne was going to continue being sad and lonely either way. Her sad eyes reflected back to her in the water, and a sparkling voice suddenly chimed in her head, Darling, what's wrong with you? You're always so friendly. Don't pass up a friend. Was that...mother? Or Angel? either way, it made hope flare in her eyes and she turned to him gently, "I'm Rayne. What's your name?"

Vincent saw her sad eyes reflected in the water. What's her problem? He asked himself. "I'm Vincent." He relied. "Rayne. Nice name. Where's your pack?" He didn't smile, but his yes lightened. Sort of...

"Thanks..." She tried to smile, but it soon went away, "My pack's off...doing something or another with each-other. Yours?" She made a mental note to herself to keep her eyes from his claw.

Vincent sighed. "I see. I don't have a pack, just a small group. and things just get...old." He scowled. Yeah, Cloud and Ellie's constant lovey-dovey stuff gets old. He wiped the scowl from his face. "So-called 'Love' always gets in the way."

Rayne couldn't help but look at him curiously, "Yeah....that's why I come here to relax. Everyone's so up-tight all the time. I'm never in the mood to deal with them. It's not like they miss me anyway," She laughed scornfully, "Drama, drama, drama," She mused in reply to his comment.

Vincent nodded. "I know." He laughed once. "Those irritating nuisances don't particularly help either. Squall... Rang int he back of his mind. "Sometimes you wonder why life can't be simpler with things like that." He shook his head. "Sometimes I think it better if I just left," He shrugged, "And left them to their business. Just go and find something interesting to do." He realized he had talked for a while. "What about you?"

"Ugh I know! And then your memories have to come back to haunt you when you can't pay attention" She scoffed, before stretching and getting to her feet - feeling more comfortable around him already. "Exactly, we shouldn't have to be tagging along just so they can remind us of how great their lives are" With an eye roll, she ended with, "But sometimes it's nice to run into someone interesting."

Vincent got up, sitting. His cape covered all his paws, and he nodded. "Exactly. And you never get the chance to rub in their face, either." He grinned evilly, but scowled. "Because everything that's good that happens to you, they don't even listen. He looked up at Rayne. "Not many interesting ones come along."

Rolling her shoulders in a shrug as she finished her stretch, she sat across from him to talk, "I dunno. I'm not much for showing off, but they don't care when something good happens either way. Man, why are people so lame? The only one that ever cared was...mother. And My brother, but he abandoned us." Shaking her head, "Well, I think this meeting was pretty interesting, personally."

Vincent scoffed. "Their so absorbed in their own lives that they can't even acknowledge you anymore.": He scowled. "And I was left for dead by my almost-father in a stupid mansion." (Sephiroth, for the record. And Vincent is technically already dead- isn't he? Sorry for the non-RP question! surprised ) Vincent look at Rayne. "This has been interesting."

(( Um...Actually, I think Lucrecia's experiment on him is what saved his life - since he's got the protomateria and everything. OH MY GOD! YOU SHOULD TOTALLY MAKE A CHAOS WOLF!!! ))
