"Relax Captian." Lily said with a smile,"Anyways I am sure Vhaidra jsut wnats to do something nice because you got hurt for her and limped all the way here. You know you wouldn't let her move around too much and do everything if the same happened to her."
Lily smiled, she felt the same way even though she was best friends mostly with Benvolio. Lily had worried about all of them and would rather Balthier sit down and relax some.

"I know," Balthier said resignedly, "I just like doing things myself. It is more fun that way." He took another bite of cake, "however this cake is pretty damn good."
Tira beamed with delight, "why thank you!"
After a moment Valen asked, "so captain am I to assume that we are heading to find the Tear?"
"Yep," Balthier answered, "but on one condition, my crew and I get a fair share of the treasure."
Valen shrugged, "I will not condone such an action, but since I am stealing from them too I will not argue either."
"Good! It is time we started acting more like Pirates again. Transporting people is all fine and good, but it can only pay for so much."

Lily wasn't intrested in treasure that much but maybe where they were going she would meet a werewolf pack. Not that Lily planned on joining it but she wanted to research if maybe there were more like herself. She patted Luna as she finished up the icing covered cat food.
Vhaidra came back to grab some cake and a drink and sat down heavily. The only other time Vhaidra felt this bad was the first time she had changed and learned how to fly. Well that wasn't really true but it felt like it anyways. Although sitting down with all her friends and eating cake made her relax a lot more.
"Did Valen get his presents yet?" She asked after she was done with her slice of the cake.

"Oh yeah!" Tira exclaimed, "I knew we were forgetting something." She obviously was kidding, Tira would never forget something as important as presents. She skipped off to her room and a couple moments later returned with a brightly wrapped package. "I hope you like it!"
Valen took the gift and smiled in appreciation at being thought of. He shook it gently and heard something fairly heavy inside, "hmm, I wonder what could be inside."
"A bomb," Zark said, as deadly serious as possible. After an awkward pause, "what? I got one once." There was a longer pause.
Valen then opened the package and inside was a brand new camera. He brought it out and examined it, he was quite surprised at the gift, not sure what to do with it since he had never had one before.
"Do you like it," Tira asked, never sure about what Valen was thinking.
"Yes, very much so. I... just have never used a camera, and only seen a couple. I don't what I will photograph."
"Perhaps all of us Valen," Julian suggested. "In the palace paintings are often commissioned for parties, and photographs should the party be more casual."
"That sounds like a good idea," Balthier added in between bites of cake.

Vhaidra smiled as she broguht out her present and so did Lily. "I think that sounds great." Vhaidra knew how much a photograph could make a good present and memory.
Cryoalpha felt very out of place at that moment in time. "I didn't know..." Birthdays weren't something he saw, he hadn't been around that long to see anyone turn another year older.
Lily smiled at Cryoalpha,"I am sure Valen won't mind if you didn't know." SHe saw the sad look on Cryoalpha's face. "If you feel that bad why don't you get him something at the next place we go to?"
Cryoalpha nodded and addressed Valen,"Valen your present from me will be a little late. Sorry..."

Valen smiled, "don't worry about it. I wasn't expecting anything anyway, but thank you for caring." He then opened the other gifts from Vhaidra and Lily.

(Oh gosh I forgot what they got...)
Vhaidra had gotten him a book on diffrent mythologies of gods, goddess's and demons.
Lily had gotten Valen a candle. "If you burn it it will help you study faster. Or soe they said I thought it might help you find out what you needed to."

Stepping away from the piano Benvolio reached under the seat and removed a bundle of cloth. with a sweep of his arm it unfolded into a dark red military cut officers trench coat. " I thought you could use something a little more modern. It's even has light armor plating in the chest and arms. Happy Birthday." Benvolio seemed to remember something. " I forgot. Ladies the dresses are yours to keep."

Lily was excited about this and smiled,"Thanks!"
Vhaidra smiled as she looked odwn at hers,"Thank you." Her mother was always heckling her about getting a dress. However she wasn't the dress wearing type, it was nice to have in case she did ever go somewhere where it was needed.

"Thank you, all of you, it is much more than I expected," this was the first birthday celebration he had had since he had been turned and it was the best he had ever had.
"You're very welcome Valen, it is cause we love you," Tira said. "And I am so glad Beni thought of that, seriously, chain mail is so out of style."

" Glad you like it. I'll give you the address of my tailor. She is amazing." Taking his seat he noticed a small package wraped in brown in the corner of the room.
" Lily did you check the ship after our visitor left? Because I think he left something" Carefully walking over to the box he noticed a tag. " Valen. It's addresses to you."

Tira looked at Zark, "don't say it's a bomb Zark."
"Why not?"
"Well it certainly isn't from me," Balthier said, now slightly worried.
"Neither from me, I am afraid," Julian added.
Valen walked over and picked up the package. "Well, I suppose there is only one way to find out...." He then opened the package.

It was a copy of "The Adventures of Valen Grey" by Karas Valen. In a bold autograph across the front was " Karas". Inside the cover was a short note.
I hope you enjoy this late birthday gift I had the monk leave you. Considering how soon after publication the author died an autographed copy of can be very hard to find. See you soon.
