ClyrskelDominant Race(s): Dragons Places of Significance: The Thrumming Crystal Allegiance: Dacorum Population Size: Moderate Overview: Many dragons live in peace here, there are some troubles but not many. People here can come but shouldn't be surpised to see many dragons in the air. They are very prideful of the crystal caves they horde things in and dragons are mostly noted for perching on the large thrumming crystal. Map Location/Picture:

"Dad really I've told you guys millions of times I want to see the world. I want to be able to fly about and do things. Here I can't do what I want I'm constantly being watched. You can't tell me you didn't want to travel. You've told me millions of times that you couldn't stay in the woods or one place the city was your thing. Why can't I find a living as well with adventuring."
Vhaidra sighed and rolled her eyes. "Look Balthier is on his way and he said my help would be appreciated he is on a mission right now. I could have left without telling you." "Wait until your mother hears about this." Ikzer said with his arms crossed he also added,"I don't want those boys eyeing you you know what they think about all the time?"
Vhaidra smiled,"Exactly what you did when you were younger." Ikzer frowned and stayed quiet a moment. "So why tell me and not your mother first?" He smiled at his small victory he knew he had. Vhaidra frowned,"Maybe you could cover me? She is scary when she is mad at me." Ikzer shook his head,"And have her mad at ME? No way you get to tell her."
Ikzer wasn't worried now he knew Rae wouldn't let her go. "Your so young though we are very long lived..." Vhaidra sighed,"You don't know how long lived I am though. You already said I advanced faster growth wise then humans, elves, and dragons." Ikzer sghed,"We worry about you we don't know how much time we have with you. After all these years trying to have a child..." Vhaidra hugged him,"All birds leave the nest dad, you can't keep me here forever you both had a want to travel and you passed it on to me I need to get out and see the world."
Just then Raetherstria came home from her flight. The one Vhaidra had denied so she could talk to her father. Now to tell her mother... "Mom... I called Balthier to come and let me on one of his adventures." Raetherstria sat down and Vhaidra looked at her worried. "I figured it would come soon. You grew so fast....you intelligence follows dragons but your accelrated aging worrie me I figure now is the best time. Your the best fighter I've seen here." She got up and hugged Vhaidra,"You have to return on your birthdays and visit when your not too busy please." Vhaidra smiled and nodded,"Of course." That afternoon Balthier had taken her into the skies and Vhaidra couldn't have been happier with her new life.
Three years later....
Vhaidra eyed the swords work of art. One was red and the other blue. She had been using normal swords for a while with Balthier and the others. Raetherstria hugged her,"From my own stash. I thought they would do you some good." Vhaidra smiled, they were always worrying about her adventures, they were quite nice though and she could tell her mother picked them out just for her. One ice the other flame, it was lovely. She gave her mother a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you."
Vhaidra hated to leave them everytime always worried, they would get that look before she left. She advanced too quickly for their liking Vhaidra knew that, they let her go anyways. Vhaidra sometimes even put Balthier out of his way for her parents though so they always knew how she was doing. Balthier would be coming too soon as always but today it was even too soon for Vhaidra he was in a rush this time. She always missed her parents and worried about them worrying about her too much.
It was redundant but she still worried. Her father gave her an enchanted dagger that would come to her when she called it. "We have a trend of weapons this birthday?" Vhaidra commented. They smiled, Ikzer answered,"We want you to be safe and make sure your taken care of."
Vhaidra smiled,"Thanks and I will be. I've been with him long enough to know that there isn't anything Balthier can't get out of." Raetherstria smiled,"Just make sure you can follow him out. If you get hurt I'll eat him for you." Vhaidra smiled and could see her mother actually doing that, dragons had fickle moods, sometimes even towards her own husband Raetherstria could get scary.
"I'll come back after this adventure like I always do, I promise. Maybe I'll bring you back something mom." Vhaidra also had her own stash she couldn't help it she wanted one but didn't need one as large as her mothers. Her mother liked to roost on it in dragon form. In Vhaidra's case she could jsut sit on a bunch of coins and be happy using them as a chair even in her dragon...ish form she was only 6 foot and not very large to the smallest dragon.
A thing that bothered her when flying with the younger dragons. She could feel normal around Balthier though at least everyone had thier own strangeness anyways. Like little Balthier collections of strange, the thought made Vhaidra smile. She frowned quickly though her parents were looking at her strange. "What?" She asked confused.
"Are you and Balthier...." Rae hinted at a relationship. Vhaidra wanted to laugh out loud,"No no... nothing like that." She paused,"You think that really?"
"Well I was worried because it was hard ot have you and your half and well you've gone through puberty and everything having a child with a human might be hard..."
Vhaidra blushed, maybe Balthier wasn't coming fats enough. "I think I hear an airship mom, dad, see you later!" Vhaidra couldn't get out the door before Rae grabbed her and hugged her,"Just be careful Vhaidra." She hugged them both and bolted out the door before anything else could be asked.

Balthier was just walking up the sidewalk to Vhaidra's parent's house when he saw her run out. "Ah, well that is convenient," he waved to her parents, "good afternoon Raetherstria and Ikzer. I hope you are doing well?"

Vhaidra just smiled at Balthier,"Yes very thank god your here." She mumbled. When he talked to them she was worried they would use it as an excuse to bring something up. Vhaidra woud feel normal soon as normal as one got on Balthier's ship anyways at least in towns people didn't treat her like a porclean doll. "No no no..." She said to Balthier quietly with her back to her parents as he tlaked to them. Thankfully they didn't bring anything awkward up. "We are fine you be careful with Vhaidra you hear?" Ikzer said.

"I always do. And don't worry, I haven't lost a crew member who didn't try to kill me yet." He said the last part with a joking smile, he hadn't had to kill any of his crew for mutiny. He had a talent for picking good bad apples.
The airfield wasn't too far from Rae and Ikzer's house, and Balthier was excited about his latest venture so he walked at a brisk pace. He noticed Vhaidra's birthday presents, "new weapons?"

Vhaidra smiled,"Ironically the blue is hot and the red is cold. But yes it appears they aren't satisified with just normal weapons for me." It was obvious she was going to enjoy them lots and she was thankful for them. After one sword breaking the last time she was worried about weapons. Maybe Balthier had passed on the news to her parents. She was stronger then humans and normal swords wouldn't last in her hands. "Seems it was the theme this year." Vhaidra smiled,"You get something?"

"I prefer a gun personally," he patted the pistol at his side which he carried with him almost everywhere. There were quite a few people who would like Balthier dead. "And as a matter of fact I do have something for you." He reached into his pocket and produced a gold pocket watch. He handed it to her, inside there was a small picture. It was the first photo that the entire crew had taken together. It had Balthier, Vhaidra, Tira, and Zark. (and whoever is in the crew, still pending.... maybe they should join later? or meet up with them at another city)
Up ahead was the air field. Red Dawn was easy to spot with her red paint job. The ramp was down and outside Zark was cleaning his guns. An Orc was never as clean as he was with his weapons. When he saw them approaching he began to reassemble the weapon in his hand, "ah Captain, are we ready to get going? Dragons always make me nervous..."
"Everyone makes you nervous Zark."
"Yeah... well, Dragons... they are big, and can belch fire."
"Hi Captain!" A voice yelled from the roof of Red Dawn, it was Tira. She waved a hand over the side of the roof.
"Tira, get down from there, no time to play."
"Aye Captain!" Tira got up and jumped down, but she was missing something fairly important, her shirt.
Balthier looked away awkwardly, "why in the nine hells don't you have a shirt on!?"
She laughed, "well I was reading this magazine that said that tan is the new style and I decided while you went to Vhaidra's folk's house I would work on it."
Balthier rolled his eyes, "of course.... I guess I should be asking Zark why the heck do you let her walk around half naked when I am gone!? It is just.... awkward..."
Zark shrugged.
"Of course... ok, well get your clothes back on and get on board." Balthier walked up the ramp into the ship.
Tira smiled mischievously and then put her shirt back on which wasn't much more than naked.

Vhaidra smiled, she was always happy to return even after a few days of being at her parents house. She pocketed the watch and would be glad to add it to her collection. She always kept strange nick knacks when they lotted things. Of course she liked to keep them hidden in her own cave. One that most dragons didn't go to because they like to roost on thier treasure in dragon form. A dragon couldn't fit where she had hers. "Nice to be back with you guys. Tira you should know those people who write those things are my skin tone they don't know how to tan, they were born with it." She gave Zark a pat on the back. "We don't all belch fire. Anyways they wouldn't want you your green you look like bad meat."

"Stiil, it is always nice to have the men oggle at you," she smiled again.
Zark grumbled something under his breath, Balthier had told him several times to mind his manners and he had improved on it greatly.
"Oh Zarkypoo you know we love you."
"Stop calling me that!," Zark kept on grumbling and went off to his quarters.
When they were all on board Balthier, the pilot, brought up the ramp and then took off. The ship lurched forward quickly as they accelerated, he was eager to get to their next job.

Vhaidra smiled and shook her head,"The men oggle you without the tan, how could they not? You don't have proper clothes on to begin with." Not that Vhaidra had much to say she needed these clothes to change and they fit their purpose well. Her wings never got snagged on anything at least. "Where are we headed by the way?" She wanted to try out her new swords. She felt bad for Zark soemtimes always being picked on but it was a change in pace with them because usually she was the one picked on at home by the other dragons. She would have to be nice to him sometime this week.

"We are going to the jungles of Mazdamunda. A contact of mine said that a friend of his friend of his friend found a previously undiscovered temple there. The man wasn't able to open it and had to leave to get some supplies for a later expedition, but I plan on beating him to it. The lizardmen were known for using lots of gold and previous stones for all sorts of stuff."

Vhaidra smiled," A friend of a friends of a friends you know rumors change as they are passed down?" She waved it off though she knew Balthier to well. "What about that disease? It might wipe off on us." More so she was worried, they had scales, she could have scales, what if it passed to dragons? She hadn't gotten sick yet in her life but who knew why or how?

"I don't much buy into stereotypes spread by the Empire. I met a lizardman once... he was on his death bed at the time. Anyway he told me that he did not know of a single person from another race that had contracted the disease that was killing off his people... I asked him where he thought it came from, he said he didn't know but he didn't believe it could have been a natural disease... whatever that means."

Red Dawn traveled for a week as fast as possible toward the Dragon Kingdom of Dacorum. Balthier made a point to evade places with people, so he mostly stuck to the open seas when he could. Because he went a roundabout way, they did not receive any radio broadcasts about current events in the world and still had no idea that a war unlike any other was brewing.

Red Dawn landed down in the airfield outside of Clryskel. A few other ships were there too, almost all of them cargo ships. It was a bright sunny day and everyone was very happy to be back in a safe place and in good weather again. It had been nearly a year since their last visit to this place.
Tira skipped happily about enjoying the warmth of summer, Balthier stretched and took a deep breath of the fresh air, Zark sneezed as the pollen irritated his nose, and Valen who wore the coat that Beni had given him and a wide brimmed hat that kept the sun out of his eyes stayed in the shade of the ship as they all waited for everyone else to be ready to go visit Vhaidra's parents.

Lily let Luna run around chasing butterflies and other things. Having been shown several grasshoppers that she had happily caught just for Lily. Who gently picked them up and threw them away once Luna wasn't looking.
Lily went to carrying Luna once they started to walk over to Vhaidra's house. Lily really wanted to see a full grown dragon flying aaround but most of them were specks in the sky and none looked like they were going to be landing any time soon.
Vhaidra sheathed her swords and put them on her side. With a small sigh of relief. "Alright...." She was actually excited to relax a little now that they were in a place she associated as safe.
"I hope they are okay..." She mumbled to herself. Knocking onto the door with their special knock that they made years ago. Her father answered the door almost immediantly.
Vhaidra smiled wide and gave him a huge hug. "Its so nice to be back home. Do you mind if all my friends come in we have to talk about some important things."
"No problem." He opened the door so everyone could come in and sit. They had plenty of room since they were rich. However most of the important things were hidden. The house was decorated with mostly things Ikzer liked since Rae wasn't very trustworthy. Which was mostly instruments and other works of art that were pretty expensive.
"Ummm I have to talk to you too Vhaidra..."
Vhaidra was starting to go towards the kitchen to get some food and drinks. "About what?"
"Well your mother....." Ikzer paused and sighed.
Vhaidra started to look worried,"What about her!?"
"Holy crap Ikzer! Don't scare her like its something bad!" Rae came into the kitchen.
A glass broke for as Vhaidra dropped it. "This is not good!"
Rae held her swollen stomach,"Oh why not?" She put her hand on her hip in defiance.
"Because you you... can't be pregnant!" Vhaidra said in total disbelief. "You guys have to start to go into hiding we have a lot to tell you. And and.... you can't turn into a dragon in this condition!"
Rae paused a moment. "Whats wrong? I thought you would be happy that we wouldn't harp on you as much...."
Vhaidra sighed and sat down,"Well... Dais is back. I was afraid he would come here first to cause havoc."
Rae narrowed her eyes at Valen,"Surely your doing!" Raetherstria pointed a finger at Valen angerily. "You never see her when she is a baby but your already trying to kill my only daughter going on your wild adventures!"
Ikzer held his hands up,"Wait up Rae. We defeated him before... why wouldn't Vhaidra be a good canidate to help Valen. We are too settled down to help like we did in the past."
Rae turned to Ikzer,"Don't you remember all the crap we went through? Wars, griffins, demons and all that!" She threw up her hands. "Heragol?" She knew it would strike a nerve on Ikzer.
Ikzer held his breath trying very hard not to say anything about Heragol at the moment in front of guests. "Lets just calm down and talk about it first...." He waited but Rae didn't move from the doorway of the kitchen. "Please?" He added.
Rae sighed and complied and sat down. "Okay explain." She said looking at them all waiting for someone to break the silence.
Vhaidra looked at her feet and easily busied herself cleaning up the borken glass. Hoping it wouldn't have to be her that stared into her mothers eyes while her mother was angry and pregnant on top of it.
