[Hints & Tips]
Characters and there Creation
In this thread were going to discuss some things to help with RPing around the Guild, so that no one will be lost in it all, so without further adieu here it is!
First of all when you go to create your characters we would like you to use the style most common on the open forums of Gaia, by pming your character profiles to Oblivious Feline our guild Captain. To do so you simply go to the Profile Area subforum and then go into the Character Profiles thread and find the appropriate Character Profile Skeleton that you wish to use. To ease the search I put both the Profile Area subforum and Character Profiles thread with url links so that you don't need to go searching for it. Ok now that you've found the thread, your going to need to know what to title the PM with, which is quite simple really:
If your character is a Slave please make the title: "Are you my Master?"
If your character is a Handler please make the title: "Can I help you find a Slave today?"
If your character is a Master please make the title: "I'm your Master, Obey me!"
If your character is a Tracker please make the title: "I will find your missing Slave"
As well as this we also ask that you give the secret message that is given for each, it has been hidden somewhere through out the thread and we ask that you highlight it to find it. Although I believe there is no point in having it in a guild since your RPing should already be good if you were accepted, but I have added it anyway, I wish you the best of luck on finding the message, just in-case. Note: In the case of the secret messages the Tracker profiles do not require one and there is no need to search for one.
If your character is a Slave type "Will you be my Master?"
If your character is a Master type. "You will Obey Me"
If your character is a Handler type. "What will sell this Slave faster?"
Spelling & Grammer
Okay some people usually have problems with there spellings for various reasons, be it dyslexia or they just don't know how something is spelt I have supplied the link to the Google Toolbar, which when downloaded comes with a spell checker for all that might wish to make use of it. It does come with most words of the dictionary and is rather useful for last minute spell checking before you post something, unfortunately I haven't been able to find a grammar checker(if it even exists) around the Internet so that people can have perfect grammar as well as perfect spellings but grammar is usually the most minor of issues.
Making Posts Pretty
Everyone likes making there posts look good I assume. So with this I'll help make that a bit easier for everyone, first of all most people usually like to add an image to there post to show there character, but sometimes that image will be large and you don't have a smaller sized version lying around well for ease of use. Please send a PM to Brock-Maister with the image you wish to have re-sized and he will re-size it for you within the next few moments.
Other than images there are several other things that people usually like using to spruce up there posts. One such method being adding a header with the character name or some sorts like the example below:
John Smith
And it often becomes tedious to keep having to redo it over and over so with what I know, people seem to say the Tektek Toolbar helps with this but I'm not sure because I don't use it, but I added the link to where you can download it if you wish. Alternatively I suggest you go into My Documents and make a Text Document, then copy and paste the header(or whatever you are using) it into the Text Document and save it, so it's easily accessed and easily re-used.
Now sometimes people like to make use of other languages to produce character names, or make there posts look a bit cooler or just for random things(like a spell during RP or having your character speak in different languages) so there is no need to hunt over the Internet for translations I have provided links to the Google Translator as well as the Babel Fish Translator
Role Playing
Okay with the rules in place it is still simple to get posting done in the guild. You must make sure each post is 4-5 sentences long at least, we all understand writers block happens but if you have it then why not sit back for a bit and stop posting until you think you can get an appropriate post done?, with fairness we will allow at least 1 or 2 posts to be made from each person while they have writers block but they must make sure we know about it so we don't "hassle" them about it.
But it is still rather easy to make a 4-5 sentence post if you have a post that you don't believe you can make longer were sure that people would be available to help making it longer, for one Brock-Maister has left himself available to help with making posts longer he only asks that you PM him with the post that you wish to be extended and then let him get to work and within the next short while you'll have yourself an extended post.
As with the regular format of guilds we use sub-forums and different threads for each area, at current most of us usually just move to the next thread instead of notifying whoever there RPing with at said time. Well I hope to change that so instead of one of the Crew explaining that they moved to one of the other threads in the guild, I have made an easy to use example for such changing:
The example is rather simple to use as such: Say John Smith was moving from the Market Area thread to the Eddarta City Clothing Store thread he would simple put at the top or bottom of his post [Exits to Eddarta City Clothing Store]
This is the same if he wanted to move to other threads, so it makes it easier notified that he has moved to a different thread and people don't try to interact with him in the thread he just left, if you know what I mean.
