There are a bunch of girls and a few guys that I know that have decided to go vegetarian, but it only lasts like 5 days. Then they make a speech about how hard it was...

Then again I should be so harsh because I've only eaten meat on very very rare occasions when I was a child.

We (I) call them attention whores.

Not eating meat is easy.

Being picked on for it, force fed meat, and getting sick, thats the hard part...

I think I know where they're coming from. I used to be SUPER ANTI-VEGITARIAN and I ate A LOT of meat and cheese. Hell, meat and cheese for me were comfort foods.

As a matter of fact, it has taken me 3-4 YEARS to become completely Vegan. Some people express thier emotions through song, dance, art and some people eat comfort foods. I ate meat and cheese. I see now how unhealthy that is, but back then all I knew was how those foods made me FEEL. It was hard giving that stuff up.

I don't think that people like that are in the right state of mind when they begin vegetarianism. They don't really know why they want to do it. I used to eat meat every day and then one day I just stopped. It was as easy as that, but because of my culture I found it very difficult to give up seafood. American culture might seem like it's all about meat, but I would definately say that South American and Spanish cultures are more carnivorous. Everyone is different. What works for us might not work for someone else.

I've been a vegetarian for about a month now and at first my friends ridiculed me for it thinking I only wanted attention. My dad also wasn't too happy with the decision and my grandma is constantly telling me that I'm going to starve and die without meat. It is hard when the people close to you don't exactly agree with your decisions, but I can see why people would quite after a week because I came close to giving it all up because of how hard everyone was being on me about it. They're now slowly growing acustomed to it, and things are slowly getting easier. ^_^

Thats what im being called by a few. A trend veg...I dont get it. How can you change a lifestyle for a trend? No one would actually change a major part of there eating habits so they can say " OMG IM VEG"

Never even heard of this. where I am, being vegetarian or vegan is already completely unheard of. I've been a proud vegetarian for 4 years. After New Years it'll be 5 years. ^^ --And Im only 14. <33

Where I live vegetarians and vegans are so rare. But I get the whole 'I tryed to be a vegetarian but its to hard'... Its not hard... I am a person that can never stick to something... and I have been vegetarian for a couple of years and I am on and off vegan... I am not really allowed to be vegan yet but the longest I have gone vegan is six months... but my mom is still kinda angry about it so I had to start eating dairy and other stuff again... but I am really trying to pressure her into saying I can.

I know, same here. I just try to keep in mind though that when someone "tries" to be a vegetarian/vegan, they are turning their back on something they grew up thinking was completely normal and natural. It can be done, but some people don't get the moral support they need, and revert back to meat/dairy eating.

I'm not a vegetarian, I don't know enough about it- hence why I joined the guild, ^_^ - but I tried for a while. It only lasted about three weeks because we started running out of things to eat. My family are major meat freaks, and that's nearly all we eat, so my mum had a really hard time trying to figure out what I could eat, and she couldn't afford to buy anything extra. Buuut it's a few years later now, and I'm trying again. ^_^

So I can see how some people would think it's hard. But I also know a bunch of people who are.. almost obnoxiously vegetarian and are doing it for attention. They yell at people for eating meat around them and make sick faces and constantly b***h. o_o

That's true. When you don't know very many other veg*ns, you keep feeling "if I'm right, why does no one else agree?" and people throw all sorts of stuff at you, like "You aren't in connection with nature!" and similar crap. Getting over the emotional hump is the hardest part. 3nodding

I know... I hate the obnoxious veg*ns that yell about meat eaters and make fun of them. It gives all veg*ns a bad name, so then when I am trying to nicely inform people about meat they instantly think that I am preaching to them and they then 'make fun' of me.

usually when someone I know tries becoming vegetarian I try helping them or if someone tells me it was too hard I give them a little flyer about becoming vegetarian along with some helpful hints. I don't care why they became vegetarian, whether its for attention or just to be different, it doesn't matter, as long as they're not eating meat and wearing fur, Whatever!! it's one step closer to a happier world for our little animals friends ^^;
