THis guild is counter-revolutionary and borderline bourgeois.

THere. I said it.

A bold assertion. Why is it counter-revolutionary and why is it borderline bourgeois?

I blame Gracchvs. In fact everything wrong is always his fault. The sooner he owns up to that the sooner we can fix that fact.

How did you come to recognise this nture of the guild?

How does this guild differ from a good communist guild?

How would you go about taking the guild in that direction?

I disagree that it's Gracchvs' fault. I see him as being one of the few who are trying to fix problems, and the the people responsible are people who never post, and people who just post nonsense and don't take the guild seriously.

It's not hard to see. Nothing gets done, Comrade Rob posts stupid pictures instead of ideas... THere are a lot of issues here.

A good Communist Guild would probably have more CONSTRUCTIVE DISCUSSION about the issues facing the workers and how to address these issues in such a way that they can be addressed.

I feel that in order for it to become better, the people who never post anything should be expelled, and for the people who are posting to post more and for there to be more discussion.

I don't know why, as I'm not one of the people taking it in that direction.

As much as I agree with your criticism of the troll-pics, Rob does actually engage in serious discussion, however much of it is in the guild chat, and not this forum. An example of a serious political post of his would be a [misguided] post in the Stalinism thread.

A more accurate criticism of that nature would be Comrade Mann who had to be pressed for a week inn order to post something half-pie decent.

That nothing get's done here is very true. ******** all happens here, and myself, Robson and Tank have been talking in the NCS chat about this and how to go about reviving the guild. Unfortunately, not all of the blame can put on the reg's shoulders. If it were JUST US at fault, we would have solved this last month. But it isn't. It is also the new members who come here but don't post.

I think many are the type who say 'yeah, I'm a commie so I should join this guild even though I don't go for political discussions much' and so just join so they can have the guild in their ledger.

Others are intimidated by the level of discussion involved because all the regs know their s**t: even if I know more Marxism than others, they know more about other topics or more specific questions than I do, so some of the discusions can get very heavy for someone new to politics. (which is why I want to revive the NCS Com).

Other people are intimidated by the rather Marxist bent in this guild. After all, it isn't just for communists!

So we have a wide range of people who are members, but not all of them are active for a number of reasons.

We have a number of new people here:
Herobane
Fenris
Domo
Kotka
Miza (isn't new, older membership than me, but newly active, definitely)
and others.

But there are very few new threads of a political character made, nor are there many posts made.

It isn't just up to the regs to keep the guild going. We need new people as well.

Also, at the charge of counter-revolution...

I would say that this guild is non-revolutionary. Most of the people here at least THINK they are for a revolution.

I'm not saying Rob's an idiot who does nothing more than post pictures, quite the opposite, I respect what he says when he says it. I just used his posting pics as proof that there need to be changes, becasue he probably does that because he's bored.

Well why is it nonrevolutionary? The main idea of Communism is revolution, so why break that basic tenet of the "faith"?

I totally agree.

However, I don't think there are that many Communists to find.

I think that the guild would benefit from focusing mainly on Communism and being composed of Communists, and I'd like as few "outsiders" as possible, but there aren't many Reds left to find I think.

I'm not sure whether to let other people in or not. I'm on the fence about that one, so if you want to you can try to convince me in favour of it or not.

Ah, I knew there was a recent thread about this: here.
Actually, as I scrolled down I realised you've posted in it!
Anyway, that should show that there's a debate about revolution amongst the members...

I did indeed post in that thread. I didn't see it as relating to the guild, more in Communism in general...

Well, there's one vote in that poll for reform and seven for revolution or leaning towards... and I think those proportions are probably accurate from what I've seen here.
But yeah, there are a couple of reformists as far as I know, so it is a debate within the guild.
