I was going to make a poll for this, but the fact is that there are far too many genres and sub genres of music to simply dump them all into "other, please specify". So in light of that, just put down your favorite music genre or genres if your inclined to more than one, and elaborate on your reasons for liking them a little.

Personally I'm rather inclined to rock and metal, well some forms of metal and mostly hard rock. I'm not as much into trash metal as I used to be, though I am still partial to a little Caliban from time to time. Then again, Caliban are more core metal than trash...Lately I have developed something of a taste for accoustic guitar and piano jazz, Its just quite soothing to listen to.

I've been musically illiterate for a while.
I enjoy my boyfriend's different types of metal.
As well as my friend's hip-hop.
Strange combination.

My music consists of Classic Rock, Metal, and a slight infusion of Show Tunes...It's very odd, I know.

Metal, rock, hip hop, SKA <---- That's a big one for me, pop punk, punk, pop, classical (I absolutely love Chopin's nocturnes), little bit of techno, not a big country fan but I love Johnny Cash and some others, grunge, some hardcore, I like most genres.
Specific metal types: Viking metal is my most absolute favoritest of all metal and just about all music ever in the history of everness, death metal if they have talent, though the finnish black/death metal bands are bit uh... much, hardcore as an offshoot I find to be okay depending on the band, I live in the California bay area so I'm familiar with the genre and much of the faggotry that goes with it such as "two-stepping".
Ska and reggae are, next to viking metal, my favorite genres of music simply because they are that amazing.

(I'm of Norse heritage, so of course vikings appeal to me)

Strange combination. Strange indeed, but not unheard of, metal combines quite smoothly with many other genres, its almost akin to mixing a vodka with an orange soft drink, it goes surprising well. Take Linkin Park, who mixed Rap with metal and ended up revolutionising Nu Metal....then they became a boy band.....but its the mixing metal and rap part that matters.

Well I can't say I'm a big fan of Viking metal, but I do agree with you when it comes to some of the death and black metal bands, theres a lot of "niche" crap out there that makes all metal bands look bad. And the Finnish Metal bands do take it to a whole new level of....how should I put this...."Oh just shut the hell up you whiny posers"

The two viking metal bands I know well and hold special places in my heart next to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Spoon, and Chopin, are Turisas and Ensiferum. Both are Finnish, as most metal bands are, and they are simply amazing. They make me want to dress in furs and ride though town on some kind of giant demon wolf beheading goblins... with a hammer.

Yes! I'm so happy to see The Mighty Mighty Bosstones mentioned here. I'm not very attentive when it comes to musical specs, so I can't really say I like any particular genre because I don't actually know the specific categories. I can be very broad and say that I like rock, but since my taste spans from Franz Ferdinand to Pendulum to Tally Hall, I have no idea what they classify as when compared to each other.
