This is for when you change your user name, not changing your character name. LOL. To me, it can be a bit confusing when you know one character as one user name, and then they switch it to another, especially when they do it very often. ((I know someone who does it pretty much every, very confusing...)) Please but what your user name used to be, and then what it is now. Or what it is now, and what it will be if you haven't changed it just quite yet.
