When Rping to make the story interesting always bring forth the environment that your character is in. Many people forget this rather important piece in Rping, which personally is rather important. In reality we do not live in a world that is just a white room with nothing happening. Rping is the same, unless your character is trapped in a white room with nothing happening...yet you can still describe a white room.

What I usually do are the following:

Sight - what your character sees
Abnormal - things your character sees that would not be normal
Ex: Explosions, monsters, people acting strange, people running (fleeing)

Normal - things your character sees that is normal
Ex: People happy, people walking, cars driving

Location - Where are you?
Ex: Apartment? Hotel? Forest? Desert? Space Station??

Sounds - what your character hears in the background
Ex: The sound of birds chirping happily? Eerie silence?

When putting these all together you can add at least a whole paragraph of detail needed to add depth to the rp.

Time of day - What time is it?
Ex: Noon, morning, Afternoon, evening, night?

Metaphors - what something reminds you of?
Ex: the rose was as red as a brilliant ruby

Ex: This is just a paragraph explaining what is going on in the environment...

As I sat in the middle of a rather thick forest the early sun's rays seemed to bring forth a brilliant bright light that seemed to make the dew drops sparkle like diamonds. Off in the distance I could hear the sounds of the foot steps of a small heard of deer roaming freely through the thick forest. Behind me I could hear the chatter of the chipmunks bickering among themselves over food while the birds sung their beautiful song to waken the forest.

Practice Time

I will give you your location and time of day to which you will Rp the environment. I will also give you two sights (an abnormal and a normal)!

Location: A Big City (any that you are familiar with), Local Cafe

Time of day: Early afternoon (11:00am)

Abnormal sight: There is a man wearing unseasonal clothes waiting in line at the cafe...his hand is in his pocket as if holding something...

Normal Sight: Everyone seems happy and calm in the store

(I wanna try!))

It was late in the morning when I walked into the busy cafe. Outside the cool summer breeze blew threw the alley ways between each tall skyscraper. As I stepped in line my hand slid into my back pocket trying to find my bill fold. Once I had it I flipped threw until a twenty dollar bill caught my blue eyes. With a small yawn those same eyes looked around at all the men, women and children in Starbucks that morning. Today seemed to be going just fine. That’s when I noticed the man in front of me wearing baggy sweat plants and an over sized rain jacket. Why was he wearing that? It was about 73 outside and not a cloud in the blue sky. I brushed it off and looked out the window for a moment as the line move up and it was his turn to order.

A scream is what brought my attention back to the counter where the man in front of me had a pistol pointed at the women at the counter. I took a few steps away from the tall dark haired man fearing for my own safety now. The cafe became errily quiet as another armed man stepped inside the door blocking the exit. "Everyone on the ground!" The man at the door ordered and everyone followed even me. From where I was laying I could just slightly see the money getting put into a duffel bag. Next thing I noticed was that the streets where being filled with cop cars and sirenes going off. The man at the counter spun around his green eyes glaring outside where cops had started to line up at there cars. I softly sighed hoping that they would just give up and maybe I could go on threw the day without anything else to screw up the peace.

At the sound of foot steps coming closer to me I looked up to see one of the robber hovering over me before he yanked me up off the floor by the back of my shirt. My heart began to beat faster and faster in my chest as the fear made my skin pale as the cold metal of the pistol pressed into my brown hair. I am only sixteen I don't want to die! The man made his way to the door pushing my numb body along. As the two walked out I saw the cops arm themselves and one was shouting but my ears couldn't pick up on anything but the sound of my heart. Quickly we inched closer to an alley way, once the two men where there they shoved me away and I thought I was safe until the gun went off and a bullet pierced my side. I stumbled forward in a daze before my body met concrete and I slipped into a cold blackness

((This looks like fun. ^^))

At 11:30, Antonio's Cafe set out the carrot cake. To ensure that he got the freshest and best slice, Aaron always got there at 11:00. It was part of his daily routine. He'd work at home from 7:00 to 10:00 on his newest novel, leave the house at 10:30 after getting dressed, and arrive at the cafe a few minutes before 11:00. He would then arrive back home at 12:35 (provided that traffic agreed) and continue on with the rest of his day.

As per usual, the cafe was quiet. The regular people were there, like the moody artists that lurked in the back corner, and so were a few stragglers. Most people were already munching on some form of food or sipping on coffee, but a handful of people seemed to have seen what he did for the carrot cake and were imitating him. Not that Caroline would dare give anyone else the first slice.

Caroline was the doll who worked the place behind the counter. A real sweet heart with big dreams. Of course, everyone seemed to have big dreams in Vegas. Caroline's was to become a big musician. Right now she was working a night job for Ka, playing with the live orchestra. It was impressive how someone so young could still work so hard.

Aaron could smell the carrot cake as it was brought out, sweet and warm. Jumping to his feet, he rushed to the counter, money already folded in his hand. Aaron always kept exact change for the food.

Before he got the chance to pay, however, something rather strange occured. A man walked in wearing what was possibly the tackiest Hawaiian shirt he had ever seen, coupled with brown cargo shorts. Aside from the shirt being a strange shade of orange-red, it not only contained those weird flowers on all Hawaiian shirts, but also an abudnace of pineapples. While in the summer, this sight would barely faze Aarone, it made very little sense in the middle of winter. Sure Las Vegas was warmer than most cities in the winter, but nobody went out in shorts and a shirt like that. Especially not the locals who were most likely to be found at Antonio's.

The room watched him with idle curiousity. It changed, however, to a small deal of worry as they noticed where his right hand was. The hand was inside of his pocket, which would have been normal enough, were it not for the hand's position. It looked almost like...almost like he was holding a gun!

No, no, that was stupid. Things like that only happened in movies and tv dramas. Right?

Aaron glanced nervously to Caroline, hands ready to spring up and knees ready to bend down to the floor. She seemed calm enough he figured, but maybe she'd had training for these sort of situations. Mostly, really, she seemed confused.

"Johnny? What are you doing here? I'm working." She knew him. That was a good sign. A few people seemed to exhale a sigh of relief, Aaron included. Nobody tore their eyes away though.

The man chuckled and nodded. "I know, I was just thinking..." He paused, dropping to one knee. People edged against their seats, knowing what was coming. You'd only get on one knee for one reason. "Would you marry me?"

He pulled his hand out of his pocket, popping open a small black box. A ring, shining under the cafe light's, sat inside of it. Caroline's eyes widened to the size of saucers, and at first it seemed like she was rendered speechless. "Yes, oh God, oh God, yes!" She squealed and ran around the counter, throwing her arms around him before kissing him. The fact that this was possibly one of the least romantic proposals ever didn't seem to register on her at all. The crowd that had by now inched forward around them clapped and Aaron found himself swept himself up in the moment.

She broke off before staring at him quizzically. "But, why are you wearing that shirt?" Aarone was glad to see someone finally asking that question.

A grin spread wide across his face. He'd obviously been waiting for that. "Well, I was thinking that we could honeymoon in Hawaii." Something about this struck a chord with Caroline. Her eyes welled up with tears and she kissed him again. The people in the cafe clapped a bit again, unsure of why they were clapping this time, before settling back down to what their business had been before the interruption. Caroline and her now fiance, however, were still kissing and hugging like the little lovebirds they were.

"Um, I hate to interrupt, but can I have my carrot cake now?"

((Ah ha, it turned into a mini story. >.>))
