A good word of advise, when you traverse the Flatlands, stay on the Barren, steering off the trails might result in a terrible demise in the Wastes. Some people are too arrogant, too egotistical, and they decide to go into the nothingness outside the Barren...you can probably guess what happened to them.
Like a burning desert, the Flatlands are scorching hot and unsurvivable without preparations, and even if you're ready, travel through the Barren is like Hell on Earth.
