One thing about my school is that I don't get a whole lot of class time; one day a week for one hour a day, and we don't spend any time on physical conditioning. We get the lesson and then it's up to us to practice it. With that being said, it goes without saying that all the physical conditioning is up to moi.
What are some of the ways you say in shape outside of class?
Admittedly, I've been a blob lately...the sudden jump from 60 to 95 degree weather has left me feeling less than motivated.
I usually just go to the gym, run on the eliptical for 30-45 minutes then lift weights (not a whole lot of weight, I just focus on toning, not bulking up) and then I do a 20 minute stretch session.
Today, I'm forcing myself to brave the humidity and heat to go run some trails in the Wildlife Refuge not too far from home...I was wondering what some of you do? What are some good ways to keep in shape out of the Dojo?

I do a lot of push-ups, sit-ups and squat, with some variations.
I also train and teach techniques to my friends/students... it all helps me keep in shape. =)

lol i do push-ups, sit-ups,mountain climbers, frog leaps(squat and jump across room swinging arms forward),suicides, minihops(tinyhops n squat position across rooms),runningfour-count kickbacks(standing up moving to squat postition extending legs behind you all the way bringing em' back in and then standing up. I do this for about 40 mins then stretch for another 20-40. this works just about every part of your body but needs motivation lol

Doing bag rounds with 16oz gloves works well to build strength and speed. Once you've done bag rounds for a few weeks with the gloves and you take them off, it's CRAZY how much quicker and hard you tend to hit! A good techno song to work out it is Blood is Pumping by Voodoo and Serano!

Some things I like to have music to, others I don't. I've found that Muse is a good band for me to run to, their faster songs all have relatively similar beats and it's just fast enough that it gives me a good work out. Same with Alice in chains...But, I just f*ing heart them period!

Music is indeed a very important component of life in itself. Imagine a world without music. Very dark is it not? lol.
As for outside of class training... I kinda practice my kicking when there's nobody home. Or when I get really bored. I oughta make it a habit to go up to the roof and practice there, since there's more space. lol. Anyways I'll keep that in mind whenever I get too bored and got nothing to do. XD oh and I practice my horse stance when no one's looking in the house.
Thanks Sensei! XD I think I'm resisting longer now!
