Comrade Rob,
I'm thankful for your compliments on an outside thread though, with your research you seem to have missed that I'm already a member of NCS. I don't post here often and that could be the reason for such happening. As far as the outside thread I'm now 15 posts shy of the 200 required and have yet to post a platform which would not take long as most of "The Road to Socialism." Publication and a few tactical maneuvours beyond what is already attempted by that thread will greatly enhance the chances of success.

Oh. The elections never happened for whatever reason. We are working however to Get them up and running again real soon.
On another note. Post more. We need more people posting!

Well, for historical background on the subject of parallel government one very successful use of the tactic was by the Irish People in their struggle for independence from Brittan. Governments in exile need De jure and De facto recognition by the International Community but, a parallel Government such as we're attempting requires only De facto acceptance by the people. Considering that democracy in the most pure sense is being used as the structure for the elections I'd say we have a good shot at getting De facto acceptance from the people as they will be the electors of their representatives. As far as the GCP being dead, that's up for debate and I'm not old enough on Gaia to debate who was here first. The point of keeping it in the signature was more to draw attention to the fact that there are Marxists of all variation on Gaia. ninja If I can come up with a good party name after getting the required 200 I'll draw up a platform as stated before. Until then I just want to build up to the level of being a qualified candidate if we do manage elections for this year or 2010 unless we'd like to postpone to 2012.

The history lesson: The Republic of Ireland 1916-1922 (between the Easter Rising and the Anglo-Irish Treaty Negotiations). The Irish people had created a parallel government that effectively ruled Ireland while the Irish people ignored the rulings of the British courts and government to such the point that administration was moot. Combined with the actions of Michael Collins the Dail or Parliment of Ireland had made independence a reality in 1922. The first formation was called the Irish Free State before it became the modern Republic of Ireland. My point in all this is that parallel governments do have a basis as a tactical model that works and has been tested by reality, viz. They meet the Marxist criteria of an effective strategy.
