Chapter 1: Escape
The dim light bulb above flickered on and off, filling the small room with a small glare of light. The TV was on, although the channel was fuzzy and rainy, and the small coffee table sitting on the dirty brown carpet was filled with rolled up homemade cigarettes and cans of alcohol, along with a half-eaten pizza slice on a dirty plate. Slowly, a small groan was heard escaping from an enclosed door, along with nails scratching on the paint-thinned door. Slowly, another light joined the small flicker of light in the small enclosed room: that of a flashlight. The owner, a man in his late-thirties with a rough goatee and a baseball cap over ravaged brown hair, turned the light to the door and cursed at his luck. His ragged gloved hand swept towards his weapon, a sledgehammer encrusted in dried blood and brain matter, as he grabbed the handle and held the light with his off-hand, his teeth clenched. Slowly, he walked towards the door, the scratching growing in consistency and intensity. The dirty boots he wore walked over massive piles of magazines and dirty food, his clothes were unkempt, as the flickering light died, now only the flashlight on, illuminating the door's handle. Lowering the flashlight, the man lifted up his hammer and placed the flashlight on the ground, his hand wrapping on the handle and turning it slowly, the lock sinking in...
As the flashlight gave way to complete darkness, the batteries dead.
GM NOTE: The scene is Miami. One way or another, the survivors have found their way to a camp: a local high school in Kendall named John A. Ferguson Senior High. The time is 6:00 AM on July 4, 2010: it's been exactly three months since the infection. All survivors have experience, somewhat, with normal Zombies. Special Infected are not yet known to exist, save by Mac, who is considered the master of lore. He does not house in the school, but far-off in City Hall, downtown.
The school is protected by many guards and sentries with fenced barricades and a minefield protecting the field behind the school. The school is like a city in itself.
Game on and good luck.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX[E] D D I E Rolling aside on the small twin-sized bed he was using, the mess of black, short cropped hair laid comfortably on the pillow. Under the metallic blinds of the school, a cloudy day was already starting to rise. With fluttering eyes, the large eyes of the inhabitant of the bed turned his head towards the other beds in the room, all neatly placed in three rows as the beds were vertically placed. The others were still sleeping, yet, he could not sleep. Groaning under his breath, he turned around on to his back and stared at the ceiling of the classroom, his hands running up his face and applying pressure on his eyes with the palm of his hands, rubbing them ferociously and sitting up on his bed, his upper body exposed to the cold room as the covers fell down to his waist, exposing his chest and abdomen. With dark brown eyes, Eddie was awake and ready to start his day. Turning his head again around the room, he saw some people stir slowly, a small grin on his lips. He was always surprised how he would always be the first awake at anything, even when things were this dead in the inside. Without thinking, Eddie twisted his body so that his feet met the cold tiles below his bed, his arm raising and his eyes locking with a bracelet attached to his right wrist: a beaded black and blue bracelet that spelled out his nickname with a heart. As his eyes met the bracelet, he felt his stomach churn and his heart ache, his longing for Elizabeth getting him again. Losing her was hard, seeing her become a meal with her family was even harder...so much, he shut-down his emotions for quite some time after. Biting his lower lip and sighing, Eddie averted his eyes from the constant reminder of a lost loved one and stood up, stretching his arms into the air and groaning as his muscles were put to use after a small six-hour sleep session he received. Dressed in only a pair of faded jeans with a studded belt, Eddie ducked down and pulled out his bag from under his bed, opening it and pulling out a gray Athletic T-shirt he wore for school in his Physical Education classes, a pair of socks and his Vans Checkered Hi-Tops. Quickly dressing himself, he shook his head slightly and walked towards the large door of the classroom, pressing into the handlebar and opening the door, stepping into the orange corridor as troops walked down the corridor slowly, M-16s in their hands and their eyes locking with Eddie.
"Morning Gents." he said in a cocky attitude, which the troops caught. Throwing him a dirty look, the pair of troops continued their schedule path, turning the corner towards the green corridor as Eddie laughed under his breath and turned the other way, sticking his hands in his pockets and walking down the empty corridor. It was a long time coming, returning to the school and already, he had made some trouble with the military supervisors. Offering him a job in the army, he declined in his own way: by cursing them out and knocking over some desks. What led to admiration turned to loathe as the troops were tempted to throw him out, but knew of how many would follow him if he left. Sucking in the anger, they let him stay and continued to survey him whenever he was in the vicinity.
Walking to the end of the hall, he opened the metallic double doors and met with the stairs leading downstairs from the third floor he was on. Placing his hand on the railing, he slid his hand down the steel rail and climbed down slowly, yawning every now and then as he climbed down to the second story and opened the doors to the second story. Unlike many that led inside, the doors led outside, a small walk path that led deep into the school and towards the cafeteria and another that led to the second floor classrooms. Taking the first, he passed the library, now empty and dark, and walked to the end of the hall that looked out towards the inside of the school grounds, all littered with troops on their rounds and free of the kids and the tables it used to house. With a sigh, Eddie turned the corner and began his descent down the second story and into the school grounds and started to make his way towards the cafeteria, every now and then, looking at the troops and biting his lips in hatred. How he loathed them and how they kept them from doing anything.
Such was life in apocalypse.

M | E | G | A | N The crying woke her up...again. One of the youngest of this facility's occupants eyes popped open, revealing light hazel orbs. She understood the incessant sobbing immediately, even through her post- morning fuzziness. Zachary had woken up again. Megan sighed quietly and pulled the plain gray sheets off her long legs with one hand, the other wiping her eyes with its heel. She wobbled into a sluggish walk, her skin prickling with goosebumps that were just under black shorts and a thin white undershirt. Even though it was so hot outside, it being July and all, it seemed to always be freezing down where she bunked. Although, she was not surprised. It was actually quite cruel what the people in charge were doing with their youngest guests. Keeping them bundled together in one of the lowest rooms of the school, not wanting to bother with them. Megan herself was exactly the sixth youngest person at this place. There three males and three females, counting herself. Connor and Casey, the two five year old twins slept deeply next to each other in their small twin bed across the room from Megan's. How they could sleep through so much noise amazed Megan, but she had always been a very light sleeper. A good thing to be these days. As Megan walked past each bed, she smiled to herself as she gazed upon the young faces of her roommates. Jades, the timid nine year old, held tightly to her torn teddy bear as she slept while Lilly, the second oldest, lay rigidly on her back, a peaceful expression on her face. Then at the end of the room, there was another small twin bed, but it must've seemed big to it's occupant: Zachary, the ten month- old baby. There, he fidgeted, all bundled up in his itchy sheets, covered only with his usual blue onesie. Megan bent down and scooped the baby up into her arms, supporting his head in the crook of her collarbone. She cooed softly to the baby and patted his back repeatedly, but to no avail. He had to be hungry, but the only thing Megan could do was go down to the cafeteria and fill a water bottle with milk and hoped it didn't spill when he sipped it.
"Need help?"a voice whispered behind Megan. She turned slowly and locked eyes with a pair of bright green. Lilly looked fully awake, despite her tangle of dark blonde hair and puffy face. Megan showed a small smile and nodded to the crying infant. Lilly nodded back immediately; she understood. This wasn't the first time they'd had to do this, and Megan was very grateful to have the mature twelve- year old around. She handed the baby off to Lilly and walked back to her bed. She kneeled over to pull her bag from under her bed and pulled out an overused large tee. She slipped the dark blue Gieco tee on and pulled her hair up into a ponytail, using the black tie she always kept on her wrist when not using it. Next to her bed, she pulled on a pair of white socks and her One- Star black and white converse. She looked over to the small side table at her bedside and eyed her glasses case. She snapped open the case and hung her glasses from the neck of her tee, just above the caveman's painted face. After pulling half of the hogged sheet from Connor's side to Casey's, she looked over at Lilly, and felt content leaving the baby with her. Lilly looked up accordingly and smiled as she leaned against the bed's metal frames and rocked the baby in the nook of her arms. Megan gave her a small wave and exited the room quietly.
As she walked down the hallways of the school, she always tended to keep her head down to avoid any contact with the armed soldiers. It seemed as if every time she met eyes with them, they would scoff or roll their eyes in disgust. No one wanted to take care of kids in this time of crisis. Luckily for her, the cafeteria wasn't far away from her room. Just a couple of turns and a few frustrated guards and she was there. To her roommates, they must have silently nominated her leader, although she didn't like or want the position. Shed didn't want to have to take responsibility for someone else's life, or be obliged to save it in times of danger. But still, being the kind person she was, silently accepted the job. Who else would calm the twins squabbles and help Jades when she needed her hair put up? Certainly not any of these oh so kind soldiers. In times like these, you had to rely on other people to survive, no matter what age.
But it annoyed the life out of her that she was treated like a kid here. Oh how she hated this stupid invasion.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX[E] D D I E Slowly, as if his feet did not want to take him any further than the front of the cafeteria, Eddie stepped forward and wrapped his hand around the steel handle of the door and opened the door, feeling the cool jet of air from the air condition above blow down on the top of his head hard, swaying the small bits of long hair still on the top of his hair a bit. As he walked inside the yellow cafeteria, the tables all empty save for one in the far left, thoughts of his high school years began to envelop in his mind: thoughts and memories of when he used to come inside here to eat with old friends, the small dances that the school hosted here in the cafeteria, the kiss he gave that girl behind the hall next to the cafeteria. It was so memorable and such a big part of his life that he felt his heart strings tug towards the school, this institution that had housed his four years of hell. Slowly, the door behind him closed with a slam that woke him out his dream and he shook his head free of the cobwebs, blinking twice and beginning his trek towards the front end of the cafeteria. He walked in between two tables, one that had a group of 4 people conversing in low voices of escaping this school. Slowly, Eddie's eyes turned towards the one speaking as he passed him and he instantly recognized the boy, no older than he was. Although his name fleeted him for this moment, the look of the boy was enough to strike a chord in his head: his years in Soccer made sure of it. The boy had his hair cut shorter, almost cropped, but he still had the same pointy nose, greasy cheeks and narrowed eyes. He still reminded him of a snake of sorts. Passing the group, he caught the attention of some of them, all who eyed him suspiciously as he turned his head away and bit his lower lip to stop the comment he was aching to say: Idiots.
'And whose going to clean up their mess? Pretty sure one of us.' he thought in his mind, his eyes narrowing as he looked to the sides of his peripherals and cursed under his breath. Whenever someone decided to leave the safety of this school, then ended up either one of two ways: dead or lost. The first one was the majority, the latter was the one that scared the soldiers the most since it went against the thought that only the government was able to control the situation and normal civilians, like himself and the rest of the teenagers who called this school home, were powerless in this apocalyptic city and nation. With this in mind and everything else that has happened to him mixing with it, Eddie found his hunger gone as he had made his way in front of a military chef, wearing a fatigued cap and an ashed apron over a white Tee. He was smoking a cigar and he eyed Eddie with suspicions as he stood there, looking at him with a blank stare, until he felt his eyes look down as he sighed to himself.
"Just surprise me." Eddie said in a small and defeated voice, until he was surprised. As if a cue had been given, he heard a few grunts and curses. Turning around, he saw the same snake boy being grabbed from across the table and hit hard on his face as he was tossed to the ground. The other three began to mercilesly beat the boy hard, there kicks resounding the empty cafeteria. Eddie could only stare as he chewed on the inside of his cheek, until he decided to do something about it. Cursing at his luck, he ran headway towards the closest individual he was near and stopped low as he slammed his shoulder on the spine of the closest of the other three and brought him down on top of the snake-boy. Realizing what had happened, the other two began to try and help out their friend, but Eddie did not allow them as he held his captive in a lock, wrapping his arms around his neck and his legs around his waist, applying pressure as he heard shouts and yells. Before long, he was being pulled away from the mob with force, feeling the muzzle of a pistol on his back as he looked back and saw a troop, his face hidden behind a balclava and his eyes filled with malice. The troop held him tight as more troops ended the fight and held the small group in there hands. Eddie felt his wrists behind his body as he was squeezed roughly, the gun being applied more forcefully on his back as he breathed heavily.
"What the hell is going on here?!" said one of the soldiers, his question directed not to Eddie, but to one of the boys. Eddie finally got a good look at the boy and realized who it was: one of those jocks in the football team who thought he was the s**t for the sole reason he was in football. The jackass didn't even answer, his eyes looked away and Eddie found himself smiling, although he felt increased pressure on his wrists and he grunted in some pain. Not receiving an answer, the boy was roughly hit on the stomach with the butt of a rifle, followed the Eddie and everyone else, the soldiers jeering. Eddie doubled over and coughed in pain as the soldier released him and hit him hard again on the back of his head, causing him to fall forward and caress his wound, groaning in pain. The other boys were luckier as they were hoisted up and taken. It was common knowledge the troops did not like Eddie one bit. As they left him, he received some curses and insults, as well as some spit on his shirt as he was left on the ground. Turning his hazy vision towards the door, he resisted the urge to curse out at them and slowly brought himself up, leaning on the nearest table with his hands on the top as he took a deep breath and felt the pain surge in his body.
"One day...but not to-Oh for heavens sake." he said as he heard the usual bell sounding over the PA system that signified an announcement. When the school was taken as a refuge, a General took over the school and established Martial Law. A man in his late forties, Beckett was the epitome of Southern Confederate General...and Eddie hated him as much as he hated anyone in fatigues with an M16.
"This here is the early morning wake-up call. We have received reports of various activity outside the school of the Infected. They seem to have taken a liking to the supermarket outside of the school as well as the Walgreens and the other stores. We remind you all that this school is haven, a bastion of safety. If ya'll think you can survive outside, then ya'll will be sent out. We don't need any problems here. Ya'll have a good now, ya hear?" he finished off. The PA died and Eddie sighed. With that, he had lost his appetite...that and probably the blood on his lower lip.

What had woken her up this time? There wasn't enough noise to wake her, the bed was more comfortable than anything she'd slept on in a while with all things considered and there was very little light making it into the room. Not that that would have woken her anyway. So what was it this time? Groaning, Vanessa sat up and felt a sudden sharp jab of pain originating from somewhere in the vicinity of her ribs. Oh yeah. It was all coming back to her now. So her violent streak had come through again. Why did it always have to make an appearance at the most inappropriate moments? 'Ah yes, because I'm an idiot when it comes to bending over backwards for the boss', she thought to herself, her hand sliding down over the now tender area. Opening her eyes, she lifted the hem of her shirt enough to see the problem. "Lovely." She muttered to herself. She had a bruise stretching from just above her hip all the way up to her higher ribs. Sighing, she swiveled to the right and put her feet on the floor, feeling a slight relief at the sudden cold jolt that shot through them. Shaking her head, she stood up. It looked like everyone else who used this room was already awake and somewhere else. Fine by her. The less people around, the better. Wincing, she yanked her jeans out from under her mattress, sliding them on and absently running her fingers over the rips at the knees. Her mother had given them to her as a holiday present. Were they still okay. Scowling, she shook her head. "Not a good time to think about that right now." Vanessa muttered, digging around and finding a shirt. Plain, black and zipped up. Hey, you couldn't beat it for practicality. The sudden announcement over the PA system did nothing to improve her mood. Aching ribs, home sickness, worry and a General with an over-stroked ego were not the perfect way to start the day, especially considering the conditions they were living in. Flopping down, she pulled on a simple pair of running shoes. Once again, practicality over style for her any day. A tiny blade slipped under the sole of her shoe. One thing was sure. No one was going to catch her off guard today. Not if she wanted her ribs to stay in good enough condition to run in case of an emergency.
"A haven, huh? Remind me to give you a dictionary next time I see you." Vanessa smirked. He needed a serious wake up call if the living standards were any way to go by. Rolling her eyes, she opened the door and stepped outside, ignoring the ever present soldiers. Sheesh, it was like living in a bad version of Big Brother. Someone was always watching you here. Creepy. Rolling her eyes, she walked to the cafeteria, raising her eyebrows at the sound of the sudden commotion inside. "That's a little early in the day." She muttered, opening the door. Her eyebrows rose even higher at the sight. So more than one of them was suffering the usual problem of being too cooped up and having way too much testosterone. Soldiers were the perfect example of this. Hell, Australia had the exact same problem. Looked like their target was having the same problem. She glanced carefully at one of the guys who'd gotten caught in the conflict. "Ouch." She mumbled, noticing the slight trail of blood on his lower lip. In this case, it looked like a better idea not to get involved.

Oscar wakes up to the sound, of dog like moans of enjoyment. He frowned in annoyance and disbelief ,he could have sworn he closed Pablo's door last night.God dammit Michelle, GET THE ******** OUT!!!!And like always the moan continued, she never stopped, and left the room the first time you yell at her.The pleasure she finds in scratching her lower back against Pablo's bed side, was like sex to the small dog.God dammit you little white fur ball.Pablo get her out of here please. I don't want to deal with this so early in the morning. What had followed next was the sound of agony. A moan but not just any moan. The moan sounded like pain was coursing threw his best friends body. You can say it sounded like a zombie more the less.
Whoa Pablo that was awesome you moan just like one.Your impressions get better every day dude. Then something weird happen Michelle stopped scratching her back, and instead the sound of ferocious barking followed. This made him finally open his eyes, to the reality of what was going on. His gazed fell upon Michelle on the floor barking at Pablo like if she didn't know his master. Then looking up at his friend who was not only awake but he didn't look like him self.Instead his body was eroded, scars, open wounds, discoloration in the skin.Pablo was no longer human instead he was now undead. In shock Oscar jumped back off the sofa in where he slept. The ironic tragic of what had happen to his friend.
Pablo..... No when where you bitten, you and me where going to survive dude. Then worst came to worst Pablo's hate for Michelle some how finding a way to sneak into our room and waking us up every morning, has finally awoken in his undead demise. What he did next was not something Oscar could stand. His best friend picked up the poor white dog and began to eat her.The noise of the poor dog in pain followed up with each bit he toke into the poor defenseless creature.Oscar stood up and grabbed his friends Kenpachi's replica katana, that was on top of his computer desk. It was Pablo's favorite sword, a blade he had finished sharping last night.Sharpened so he can defend him self against what had plagued the earth not so long ago. http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/c/0/0/19/6/AAAADI-CNC8AAAAAABlmyA.jpg
Oscar unsheathe the blade hitting Pablo with the sheathe first, then piercing the sharpened katana threw Pablo left eye. His best friends body fell back on the floor he was now life less.Good bye old friend wait for me in a more peaceful place. The dog fell on the floor in front of him, she was now dead too.I'm so sorry Michelle i wasn't fast enough. He then dug the blade into the lifeless dogs head, making sure there was no brain left for the virus to feed on.

...:: Valerie ::..Loud and statically, an announcement echoed the halls of where Valerie sat, shoeless in the hallway, "This here is the early morning wake-up call. Ya'll have a good now, ya hear?" She rolled her eyes and sighed, she gazed out of a large glass window. All she saw was sky. Blue and untorn, as if nothing has changed. "I think today is the day." She said through a sad and awkward smile. She brought her knees up to her chest, feeling the cold tile beneath her feet. Closed her eyes and took a breathe in, as if her last. She was preparing mentally what she was going to do. Wondering if it was a dumb idea and she should just stay put. No, I got to leave, I know that being here is worst than what people believe, she thought. Now the paranoia started to kick in, What if they don't let me? What should I do then? They said I can just get out, but no one even had the balls to do it yet.. Brushing off the negativity, she grabbed the socks by her side and started to put them on. Doors opened down the hall, the troops were taking their usual walk. I've been here everyday at this time in this exact spot, but this will be the last time they will see me. This time it was a group of four, smaller than the usual six. They marched proudly down the hall, almost as if they have something to prove. As they came closer to where Valerie sat, she smiled at them. Everyday they always say something. In the beginning they made a lot of "sweet mama" jokes. Then it turned into something cruder, how she would be great food to satisfy the undead. Her battle over that was somewhat political, they themselves are zombies too, just feeding off the government and used for dirty work. "Hey Zombie, had any brains for breakfast yet?", they stopped their march to speak to her. The main officer, Mitch, is always the one who speaks to her. The other officers under him always back him up. Valerie always felt sorry for them, even if they had disagreeing opinion, its not like they can express them without being harassed. "Thats not part of my diet." She smiled looking up at him, "I'm leaving today, so this will be the last time we get to exchange such humble chats." Her socks were fully on now, and she was putting on her shoes. "Really now? Joining your own kind huh?" Mitch laughed and looked back at the other three who were quick to laugh with him. He slowly faced Valerie again, still laughing, "Too bad that it's not going to happen." She frowned, "What?" "Yeah, I'd like to see you try. Loads of paperwork and the office is never going to let it pass. You're too young and you're also a girl.", said Mitch with a satisfaction from the bad news he explained. "Fine Print crap, I'm still leaving.", she said impulsively, and looked down to think and tie her shoes. "Look, if you try anything against the regulations, your a** is going to be behind bars. I'll be your personal guard, giving you more hell than you can imagine.", he said through the grit of his teeth. Taken slightly aback, "Why did that piss you off so much?" She looked to the other officers to see if they also agreed. Sadly it didn't seem so, by now her shoes were fully on. She started to get up to face Mitch eye to eye. "You take us for granted. We are here to protect you, and all you talk about is corrupt nonsense." "Protect? What about the beating on that old man? Everyone knows that it was the troops. You guys get to do whatever you want and you're taking advantage of the situation." She felt her throat start to burn, "You know that because you're needed and you won't get in trouble." Mitch looked back to the other officers for a moment, then quickly with force turned to Valerie and grabbed her throat. She had a reaction, but she knew she couldn't use force against an officer, or that would surely be the end of freedom. Coming closely to her face, and in a whisper, "As much as you deserve to get eaten, I hope your a** gets to rot in jail." He released her from his grasp. And mentioned to his follow officers to continue to march with him. Valerie watched him and the others until they got down the hallway and closed the door in a loud echoed slam. She sighed, her heartbeat didn't even race a bit. Rubbing her neck, she leaned down and grabbed her bag.

They’re all over!!he gasped as he looked around they were coming through the previously barred windows, they scratched there way through the walls, they bashed down the doors. he takes another look around and bodies are being ripped apart limb from limb, blood flying across the room, agonizing cries of pain, torment, and sickly pleasure fills the air as he fells the taste of blood in his nostrils. there getting closer he sobbed to himself as he curled into a fetal position. he lifts his head slowly almost as if it were to hurt AHHHH!!!! he opens his eyes only to find that his faithful golden retriever ruby is licking his face as he sat in his Reiki (ray-key) room in a meditative position. It was only a vision he sighs to ruby its going to happen soon lets go! he gathered all his weapons and protective wear from his make shift fortress in coral gables (a house he worked on a week ago that was up for sale). he loads every thing he has into his truck that he has been armoring just for this. he straps ruby in safety first he smile and pat her on the head start the truck and he mutters to himself its gonna be a bumpy ride.

Deciding to forego the cafeteria, Vanessa slipped back out the doors with her senses on high alert. The last thing she needed right now was to cross the line with anyone in this place, be it a soldier or a survivor with a bad attitude. If she wanted to avoid any more bruises anyway. Absently, she trailed her fingers along the walls she passed, her flesh feeling the minute texture existing in the surface. With a sad sigh, she came to a halt, her hand still touching the wall. Maybe it was because she was used to her school back in Australia but this school looked too sterile, too much like a prison. Probably a result of all the mess that had happened but the difference was painfully stark. Damn, the homesickness was getting to her. Hell, I'd give anything just to hear an Australian accent again, she thought to herself. It didn't help that she talked to herself. Growing up in one place left you with a particular accent that wasn't easy to get rid of. The sad thing was, she didn't even sound Australian so that was a moot point.
"If I had known this was gonna happen, I wouldn't have complained about the workload." Vanessa muttered sardonically. The scowl back in place, she started walking again. Not that she even had any idea of where she was going. Most of the time she just let her mind wander. In this 'haven', there wasn't much else to do except use your imagination or practice what you were good at and even those were starting to bore the hell out of her. "Jesus, I sound like my brother." She mumbled with a small sigh. Her game fanatic younger brother couldn't go without his PS3 or any other gaming device for very long. When one wasn't around, he'd complain constantly about being bored. The thought made her smile but it brought on a dull ache. She missed him more than she cared to admit. He'd offered to come with but changed his mind once he learned she would be staying somewhere with no easy access to games. Well, he'd have loved the current situation. A groaning sounded from somewhere close by. That could mean anything from someone having eaten something that the chef had come across in a moment of inspiration to it being one of the zombies. Had someone been bitten or had one of them found their way inside. Vanessa stilled, her fingers sliding down to her shoe and slipping the blade from the sole. Sure it was small but it would work if she had to slice something's brain up. Quietly she walked towards the sound. A broom cupboard? Oh perfect. Limited space and the possibility of whatever it was jumping out and biting her. "Not the time for sarcasm." She whispered, reaching out and touching the door handle, pausing for a second before yanking it open.
"Great!" She snapped as a mess of eroded rotting flesh leapt at her, the smell hitting her a second later. They always smelled a hell of a lot worse than they looked. Her hand instinctively shot out. Thank God it was the one with the blade. The tiny piece of metal slid easily right through where the nose should have been, lodging in a crusted but still open sore. The monster paused, as if it wasn't sure what had just happened. "Guess the brain still understands pain." Vanessa muttered, shifting her grip on the handle and yanking the blade up through the head. Good thing she'd practiced with these or the blade would have simply snapped in two after that trick. The momentum of the blade sliding through the now corroded skull sent the zombie reeling against the wall, its body sliding down as it made contact. Carefully, Vanessa jumped closer until she was holding the blade right above the brain before jamming it in and twisting in different directions. Nothing could move if its brain had been put through a blender. Movement ceased as she pulled the blade loose, grey matter dripping onto the floor. "Now I'm really glad I didn't eat something." Vanessa smirked, flicking the blade and hearing several splats echo through the corridor. That was going to need one serious cleaning. Glancing back at the zombie, one thing was clear. "How the hell did you get in here?" She murmured, walking away from it.

Oscar had to sit down, depression hit him like a sack of potato's.Not only did he kill what was left of his best friend, but he wasn't quick enough to save Michelle from Pablo him self.Oscar looked at his best friends weapon of choice, it looked exactly like kenpachi's Blade. Then Oscar had remember the packed they made if any of them got bitten.Oscar's frown turned into a smile it would have been the way he wanted to go.His best friend sticking his favorite katana threw his eye.Taking away his restless soul suffering, by taking away the monster that has taken over his body.Giving his Soul a peaceful rest.Oscar liked the idea and was honored in giving his friend a better rest in his after life. And he felt even better that he killed Michelle before she can suffer from anything her master went threw.Oscar Picked him self up and this time went into the closet. As he opened the closet door, the Blade that Pablo had bought for him 3 mouths ago at super con stared him right in the face. The first anime con Oscar had ever taken his dear friend too.Oscar had also sharpened that blade last night to defend him self from the zombie apocalypse. He placed both blades in his sparing bag and headed to his car.Today was the day he was going to head to Ferguson, to spring out Edison from the jail his High School had become. The government had obtained the High school as a shelter for survivors, but the people inside that school where more like prisoners than anything else.Oscar hated the government before the zombie take over and even more after it.The fact that like in his favorite video games it was there fault all this happen. And the fact that it would only take time before they ******** up more.Instead of finding a cure they where only going to make it worst.Trying to make more weapons to defend against the infestation, which would probably turn on them and cause a greater problem to those still alive.Edison knew what he was doing at Ferguson, but it was time for them to get on with the real plan in surviving this hell hole of what is called earth.
Oscar called Edison and like always no answer so he decided to leave him a message. Yo Eddie its Oscar i know you think the school is safe, but after being there for 2 weeks you should already know its more like a prison than a safe house. I'm headed that way to go get you soon, but first things first I'm going to go get Athena.Call me if anything happens man.LOVE YOU EDDIE.After hanging up with Edison's voice mail Oscar called Athena.Waiting there as the phone only rang once and then went straight to voice mail, Oscar felt a heavy sadness maybe something happen to her. Paranoia kicked in, if something happen to her he would feel guilty that he had left her at her house. This was bad she can't die, she was the only thing he had left to keep him from giving in to dementia.Oscar quickly turned on the car and drove off out of Pablo's neighborhood.

M | E | G | A | N As soon as the brunette entered the doors of the cafeteria, she could feel the heavy tension immersing from a boy's table across the way. She didn't know many of the older kids here; she was more familiar with the adults, specifically the ones that would come around from time to time to help out with the children's needs. Megan kept close to the wall as she walked past the table, glancing over once only to lock eyes with a scoffing teen boy. He snered at her then turned his back to her to whisper to his friends. 'Wow. Don't I feel welcome?' Megan thought, rolling her eyes. She did happen to spot one boy she knew on the way to the drink and condiments table: Eddie. She'd met him a couple of days ago and didn't know ery much about him, but at least he wasn't a complete jerk like the rest of these testosterone mussied boys. At the sight of him heading towards that table made her worry. Those boys looked ready to blow.
Megan continued to walk towards the refreshment table. She picked up a clear water botter and empited it's contents in a nearby waterfountain. She had to carefully tilt the milk jug's opening into the bottle's, but some liquid still sloshed onto the table. After capping the jug and twisted the tiny plastic cap onto the bottle, half-turned to leave for the room. Then all Hell broke loose, it seemed. There was a smacking and crashing sound from behind Megan, and she whirled completely around to check it out. Just like she'd predicted, the boys blew up. And Eddie was in the middle of it! She uttered a gasp and slowly inched towards the table, making it and the drinks on top rock and rattle. As soon as the guards arrived, she knew it was under control, but the damage had already been done. The ping of the announcement made her jump slightly, but it aggravated her more than anything else. The man talked like a freaking redneck, and he was supposed to be in charge?
After the boys littered out onto the grounds and the tension in the room finally broke, Megan grabbed a napkin from the table and wet it under the water fountain's cool water, then walked over to Eddie, Zachary's milk bottle's cap between her middle and index finger, the bottle hanging in her hand. "Are you okay, Eddie? she asked, holding out the wet napkin.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX[E] D D I E Slowly, pressing his hands on the table, Eddie's eyes met the gray table and he sighed as the announcement over the PA system finished with the heavy-drawl of the Southern General. Out of all the generals around the area, he hated this one the most, that damn Southern General that made it sound horrible to live in the south. When he had first arrived, he had kept most laws at a minimal, even protecting the safety of the students under the soldiers. When he was forced to stay in the area after the presence in Miami had gone to a minimum as more and more soldiers were sent all over the United States, his paranoia started to get the best of him. More and more, he started to begin a sort of communist rule in the school, even going as far as to making sure that no boy or girl would stay in the same room if they were older than fourteen. He managed to separate the males and female into separate rooms and also managed to separate them by age. It was all hell...but the soldiers kept everything secured at some sort. With all of this in his head, Eddie was not paying any attention when he heard the voice of the girl by his side, turning his head to see the face of Megan, the fourteen-year old girl he had met around the time he had arrived here. Rather than be sort of a brat like most others of her age, she had managed to stay on his good side with her knowledge and also her skill at keeping a conversation that did not involve boys, Hannah Montana or anything pre-teen. Getting a goofy smile on his face, he wiped his underlip with the back of his hand, smearing some blood on his lips as he looked at the wet napkin she had offered him and took it gingerly, his goofy grin now into a large smile as he wiped his lips with it, crumpled it up and tossed it on the ground.
"I'm fine, really. I mean, I've taken worse hits in the gut during my years in soccer." he said with a smile. Wiping the moist lip, he looked back at Megan and smiled slightly. Again, she was one of the only people in this place that made any sense and that actually had some kind of brain here. Suddenly, he felt his phone vibrate loudly in his pocket as he shook slightly and looked down at his jeans pockets. Sticking his hand into his pockets, he pulled out his Motorolla Slither and checked the phone, seeing the background of his favorite band: Dir en Grey on it. The words "Pink Dino" also appeared and he felt a small smile curl on his lips, until he held the One and called his Voicemail, pressing the speaker button and turning his phone into a speakerphone. The long-time voice of Oscar resonated in his phone as Eddie felt his smile turn into a frown and a bite of his lower lip, until his frown was broken into a small grin as he heard the proclamation of love on his part. He made him seem gay...
"Well...isn't this great? Megan, we need to talk...ummm, come on." he said, looking at the side at the cook, who was staring at him and Megan. He gave him a small smile and a wave as he grabbed Megan by her wrist gently and started to pull her with him, walking to the double doors of the Cafeteria and kicking the doors open, running to the right as he ran towards the stage that was outside on the grounds. Deep inside that stage, where the actors got in, there was a small hallway that granted privacy, something that the students of Ferguson had lovingly referred to as the Cave. It was here that students did drugs, had sex and also had conversations that were not meant to be heard. Climbing onto the stage, keeping Megan in tow, Eddie managed to turn inside the hall and release his grip as he looked around and back at Megan.
"Sorry...can't risk it." he said with a sincere grin.

Ugh, this stuff was always so difficult to get off anything. Vanessa grimaced darkly as clumps of decaying grey matter, bone and skin stuck to the blade. At least it hadn't gotten onto her skin. The grimace turned into a scowl as the gunk stuck. Rolling her eyes, she kicked the door of a bathroom open. At least the sinks and taps still worked. Cranking one of them open to full blast, she waited till the water was steaming before sticking the blade under. The combination of the water pressure and the temperature would scour most of it off. At least she still had the oil to stop it from rusting so that was nothing to lose any sleep over. The only thing to worry about, trivial as it was, was the water hitting her. At that temperature, she'd have one more scar to gloat about. Not exactly something she was proud of. Fingers stinging slightly from the steam, she pulled the blade free. Hm, all off. Sighing, she wiped the excess water off on her jeans, the steel glinting brightly in the pale fluorescent lights gleaming from the ceiling. At least the bathrooms here were the same as the ones in school back home. The thought made her smile. Whereas everything else was different and it was always hard for her to get along with anyone, the bathrooms of all things turned out to be the same. Vanessa smirked, her fingers pressing against her eyes as she felt a sudden fit of hysteria settle in her chest. Great, she was going to laugh and start crying again. This had become an annoyingly frequent occurrence in the time she'd been here. The laughter bubbled up and exploded from her mouth, wild and uncontrolled as the tears brimmed over and slid down her face, dripping down onto the blade. Salt. Great. "I'm going insane." She gasped past the laughter, the bursts of it slowly turning into sobs as the sadness took over. But still the laughter came, the absurdity of the situation clear to her. Her entire body shook as she leaned against the wall, sliding down it until she hit the floor, her shoulders hunching over her knees. She'd been holding it in for so long that it didn't want to stop. Horror, depression, disbelief and nostalgia all combined to provide a painfully potent mess of her emotions. Her hand shaking, she reached behind her into her back pocket. "Still there." She mumbled past the tears, yanking out a many times folded photo. Her parents, younger brother and three best friends smiled at her from the image. She stood between her three friends, arms interlocked and the two on the outside flipping the camera off. Her parents were laughing while her brother grinned as he held her dog. God, she missed them so much. Moaning, she tilted her head back until it hit the wall, staring at the lights, the harsh paleness burning into her tearing eyes. Why did this always have to happen at the most inappropriate moments. For Vanessa, being so used to keeping her emotions in until they lashed out, these moments of weakness were going to be her downfall. Hell, the fight that had caused the bruise now sitting happily on her ribs had been a result of her showing weakness. Sighing, her breath hitching painfully, she forced herself to calm down. The sobs went quiet but the tears would take a while longer. It was always like that.

He stood in front of the entrance of Athena's house. Staring into the mess of what once was a lovely decoration of what seemed to be an old ladies get away from life.Athena's Grandmother's Cuban decorations scattered all over the floor. The scary clown doll, that made him once have nightmares was now gazing at him. It's head twisted turned to him, like if it was perversely placed there in that position on purpose. Oscar unclouded his mind as the first thing that pop to his head, was the thought of Athena locked inside her own room.Scared out of her mind, trembling, as the world around her had become a living night mare. Before he could make a dash to her room a figure came out of the corner of his eyes. A white haired figure appeared to him, slowly sliding his left foot from behind him.Once the 6'4' figure stepped into the light of the open door way, it dashed towards Oscar.Lunging his body weight forward as it gained momentum, and then falling over on the floor inches away from Oscar's feet.It was dragging his left foot for a reason, it had obtained a wound on it's ankle.Oscar kicked the Zombie on its face turning its glare upwards, then piercing threw its chest pinning it against the floor with his katana.Moaning and screeching a loud scream of agony, the zombie continued to try to grab Oscar.Oscar then grabbed the katana out from the zombies chest and finished the creature off by slicing threw its neck. Leaving it lifeless as the blood spewed almost endlessly up onto Oscar. As the zombie stopped squirming, Oscar could finally get a better look at the creature. Sadness found its self on Oscars face, realizing the lifeless corpse was Athena's father.
The wound on his ankle meant that Athena was attacked by him.And to stopped herself from having to take the life of her own father, she had sliced him in a spot where she knew he would not be able to follow. The reality was he was only assuming in a desperate way to cheer himself up , for the next thing he might have to see.He rushed himself over the dead corpse hurrying himself into Athena's room.Oh thank god. There was no dead body, or worst yet a zombiefied girlfriend. Instead an opened window where she had escaped, question is where did she go.Oscar turned to head back to the car, walking forward slowly with his katana at hand.He turned the corridor stopping to the sound of dog like weeping.Oscar knew who that was, he ran to the back sliding glass door and opened it. Sure enough, Emmy, the medium sized dog jumped up in happiness.Hey big boy you okay. The dog started to lick Oscar's face.Aww buddy were you scared, don't worry poo face, your safe with me.

:1 hour prior: As Athena woke up on the soon to realize horrible day, she knew that something wasn't right. she heard a loud repetative banging at her bedroom door. As Athena got closer she heard along with the banging, a type of agony non-human like moaning. The banging persisted so she didn't dare open the door. Athena backed away from the door and layed on her stomach facing the door to see if she could see what was making the continuous banging. In shock all she saw was a pair of bloody feet running back and fourth into her door. Blood was splatterd all over the floor. Athena jumped up as she came to terms of whos feet those were. she knew those feet. she'd know them anywhere. They were her dad's feet. Athena's own father. Hoping maybe her father was Just trying to get her attention she called out to him. "Daddy?"...Nothing. "Daddy please answer me!" ...Still nothing. I knew it must be to late. I knew it must be the Zombie apocalypse. There were signs that her father was infected and slowly turning but she wouldn't bring herself to belive it. Her father was the only parent she has and she loved him very much. She didn't know what to do. She couldn't kill her own father. Even if he has become a zombie.
As she moved her dresser to block the door and give herself more time to think, she thought of all of her options. She ran to her blue Katana which hung over bed. She, along with her boyfriend Oscar have just recenly gotten them sharpend. Was she really considering finishing off her own father. "No there was no way!" She screamed to herself as she shook the thought out of her head. As tears fell down her cheeks like rain on a stormy day she grabbed the closest bag she could find and threw random things from her room that she has been gathering since the first news of a possible Zombie attack into the bag. The last thing she threw in was a picture of her mother and father. She got dressed and headed for the window. She knew it was the only was out. Just as she opened the window the door started to give way and her dad was almost in her room. Just then she realized that she would need to get the keys for her dads car. They were in his room. She needed to get past him. She needed to slow him down. She crouched down and slid to the bottom of the door. Her fathers feet were right there. She grabbed her katana and Sliced his left tendant on his ankle. "Im so sorry daddy. I love you so much" Tears still pouring out of her eyes. He fell to the floor and groaned in agony. As he fell to the floor our eyes met for a second. Then just as if nothing had happend the rage of the zombie took over and he continued to break into my room. He was slower and clumsier now but the hunger and urge to kill was all that matter to him now. She jumped up out of her daze and ran to the window. Throwing her things out and then climbing out after.
Leaving her things by the car she ran around to her grandmas window to get a view of where her father might be. As she peered into the window of her grandmother's room. she saw her torn apart corpse laying in her bed of blood. Then she spotted her father. He was just got into her room. He was tearing it apart. Not understanding where i went. She took this opportunity to go thought her grandmas window. She dashed for her dads room. Once inside she slambed the door. She grabbed the keys and walked slowly back to the door. All she heard was the noise of her father still in her room. She flung open the door and ran for the front door. Now her father was after her. She slambed the front door right in his face and heard him slam into it."Again, im sorry daddy" She said as she ran to the car. With one hand she was making the I LOVE YOU sign in signlanguage. Something her and her father always did to eachother several times a day. Something she will never be able to do again.
She threw everything in the car and got in. Just then she remembered her Emmy. Her dog. She jumped out. Leaving the car on. Running to the fence she called out to him. "Emmy! Emmy!" Nothing. Not a bark or a whimper. She threw open the gate and called again. " Emmy come here boy!" again nothing. "I loose my dad and my dog. What a horrible ******** day!" She got back in the car and took one last look and her home. She knew where she had to go next and that her old life must be forgotten.
