I mean she has always had the same abilities. Sacred Arrows and Jewel Purification. If she could get new abilities I would want her to get the ability create Sacred shields so she can protect herself instead of having to be saved by Inuyasha all the time, and wouldn't it be awesome if there was an episode where there was a one-on-one battle between Kagome and Kikyo?

Yeah. I think that would be really cool. Becaus ein like every manga/anime Inuyasha always has to save her.......if it was different, it would be cool. Everything in the world is always better with change after a long time. smile biggrin

♥ | Personally, I think not. In my opinion, Takahashi-sensei did a wonderful job in using what little powers Kagome had to develop her character, as shown by the fact that in one of her fights shortly before the ending of the manga, she never called for Inuyasha or wished for help from anyone other than herself. She didn't have a lot of special abilities, but she knew that she had enough strength and confidence to get her by, regardless of whether Inuyasha was there or not.
Besides, I'm somewhat wary of giving new abilities to characters, anyway. For someone like Kagome whose greatest strengths seem to be making friends and talking too much, making her kick butt on the battlefield distorts her character from "helpless schoolgirl" to "miko warrior" too much -- there needs to be a balance. wink
And about your question about Kikyou fighting Kagome: no. I wouldn't know whose side to be on, and I'd hate to see what it'd do to Inuyasha if it was a full-out fight and not just "miko training" or such. confused | ♥

I dunno about hte ability but a fight between Kagome and Kikyo, the outcome would make Kikyo win. Let's face it she's way more experience, and has better skills; she could easily overwhealm Kagome.

well i know that its kinda obious that inuyasha going to save her but thats what makes it a little romantic with everything and about the fight wit kikyo and Kagome. I hate kikyo so I would go for kagome but i dont think they should fight beacause I mean like it wasnt inuyasha that hurt her it was naraku and thats a totally different person. Plus if shes fighting beacause inuyasha likes her she should just let it go cause its been 50 years.

And I said it before, anyway: towards of the end of the manga, she stopped asking everyone for help; she bore her burden herself and fought her own battles. She didn't need a new set of abilities to do that much.Soulcat5 I dunno about hte ability but a fight between Kagome and Kikyo, the outcome would make Kikyo win. Let's face it she's way more experience, and has better skills; she could easily overwhealm Kagome.

But W'annabe you do make an intresting point about the last part, Kagome shouldn't have a new ability it kinda outbalance the whole manga if each character(s) got a new power every once in awhile they'd be able to do things that could damage a full fledged demon army without breaking a sweat. xp

Fact is, push come to shove, Kagome probably wouldn't have the heart to go against Kikyou, either. She knows too well how it would hurt Inuyasha, which is why she was able to even help Kikyou all of those times in the past. If Kikyou was to attack Kagome outright -- no hesitation -- no new ability would give Kagome the audacity to do the same.
I just don't like it when people give characters skills that they don't have or at least don't seem conceivable even in the realm of the manga, but if there was anything I would like to see Kagome do, it would be purify demons with the touch of her hand like she did against Mistress Centipede in the well. | ♥
