I want the mod requirements to be changed so that being an a*****e is not a requirement. I was just denied mod status for not reporting enough. To me reporting is being an a*****e so I don't do it. I don't want my threads reported so why would I do it to others? Do you agree?

i think flying dicks and another member were denied for the same thing. imo a real mod wouldnt report every topic or post that has minor infractions maybe just give them a warning to clean it up a little

I never understood why that is a new requirement......do they think since you snitch (by reporting) everything that somehow that would make an awesome mod? stressed

:\ My signature was banned for a dumb reason. I had to PAY to get it back. It was Gaia's mistake, so I had to pay for it.
If you went into the CB, you could find a LOT of threads lol Or go to the exchange. They have a lot of scam threads.

lol. not reporting enough sounds like a dumb way to deny you on. I mean to think that there are 24k gaians online right now and at least 20k of them are making minor infringements to things like cybering because towns is always full of it seems like way too much to report.
Personally I'm 20 going on 21. There's nothing on here that I haven't either: 1. heard about 2. done before.

Mei tsuki7 I want the mod requirements to be changed so that being an a*****e is not a requirement. I was just denied mod status for not reporting enough. To me reporting is being an a*****e so I don't do it. I don't want my threads reported so why would I do it to others? Do you agree? There's a quota for reporting violators? s**t--makes me glad I haven't bothered to even seriously consider being a mod if that's the case! That, IMHO, is not what mods are supposed to be for! Having been a co-sysop of a BBS way back when, I know that it's more important to have moderators in forums clean up messy threads, delete threads that are dead, merge repeated threads together, and generally keep things relatively organized, not to play Gestapo for the PTBs. I agree--there should only be reporting if there's a serious violation of the rules, like players threatening each other or posting porn or something. Sure, I make racy comments now and again, but I heard a lot worse than I've posted back when I was twelve! So there's cybersex on Gaia--it can't be totally banned, but it can (and should) be kept down to reasonable levels and in appropriate areas, such as private guilds and in private messages rather than out in the open in places like Towns or Rally. Moderators shouldn't be spying on everyone, they should do their jobs and moderate the threads, etc.! And with every moderator forced to file hundreds of complaints every month, how could the admins keep track of real violations? Sounds to me like the system is in danger of collapsing under the weight of all that spying and reporting!

The only mod I've ever encountered was really bitchy. If it's the first time you've even gotten in trouble for a post you should be given a polite notice that you did something wrong, not a bitchy comment condemning you.

that is an extremly dumb requirement, what they sayng, snitches are the only people that are good enough to be mods. well i just thought of a great way to test gaia. how many damn mod applicants does gaia get per day? well we have 625 people in the damn guild, imagine if we all applied as mods, it wouldn't overload anything, but i bet that we'd get a few of our members up in power, and they'd use it justly unlike the d****** mods we got right now

How much do you need to report people?
I dislike most of the moderators. They are jerks! I remember my thread got deleted for trolling, when I was just expressing my opinion about some people being perverted, and how it was said that Ruby had gotten changed. T____T

The whole point of being a moderator is keeping tasteless things off of Gaia; if you don't report, what's to say you would move/delete?
My friend got denied because they were worried about his 'maturity level'. Considering he's the most friendly person I know and the mods I've met, well, aren't rolleyes , I call bullshit on their entire evaluation process.

You know what we should do? We should pick one person here, and demand Gaia make them a mod. There are enough of us here to start a petition. We can put people WE want at the top, people WE want in charge. Lets pick someone here to be a mod and help them get it. If we're all behind one person how can they say no without looking like the @sses they are?
We should be allowed to make our own mods. As long as they haven't done anything bad and have been on the site long enough, who gives heck about how many people they have reported? Who's with me on this one?

Great...we could do that, and so can every other guild with '000s of members. While I agree that the mod requirements aren't exactly well thought out, forcing people into mod positions wouldn't exactly help either (even if those people are fully-qualified and do their job right). There are several threads both here and in the main forums (including a currently active thread here) about the problems between so called "oldies" and "newbies". Most of us would be categorised under the first group, simply because we are members of this guild stressed For us to try doing what you suggest would probably stir up a firestorm so ugly that I don't even want to think about it. While it might ultimately work out, it would probably cause even worse problems than right now.
