Ok I'm having a little bit of difficulty in Martial Arts again. And it isn't balance this time.(Well maybe it sorta is... I donno.) Anyhow, Lately I've been real clutz. Clumsy as in, When we are running around (warming up and such) I tend to trip over flat surfaces now. Now, I have NEVER had this problem in my life! I think I caught this from my friend who technically has been doing this stunt for most of her life. I know that sounds silly, but its my only theory!!

Maybe you're lacking focus....
Are you under some kind of stress?... maybe something that's keeping your mind busy?
If so, this could be a distraction and thus, you can't fully concentrate on what you're doing.

Well, My mind is never really present. But that's not new. I just hope that it shakes off after a while >x<'

It's probably just a spell of klutziness, I went through one of those 3 weeks ago, when I put my finger through a machine at work and degloved it. The rest of the week was marked my me knocking my head into shelves, walking out of my flip flop and stubbing my toe (I was agile enough to save myself from falling face first into wall) and so forth...It goes away, we just sometimes have bouts of random clumsiness. Good luck to you!

Well yea, I almost did the splits for the first time, Banged my shoulder against three different walls and on a person, Almost landed face first on the ice crying . And nobody was there to help me!!!!!!!! crying *sniff* I feel like poo now... *sniff*

Maybe work on some balance exercises. You can incorporate your martial arts training into it. Here's what I do: Stand in a horse stance facing 12:00 Slowly raise your right leg up so that you knee is parallel with the ground and execute a front snap kick, then slowly return your leg to the parallel position. Without putting your foot down do a side kick...remember...going slow is key, it forces you to use more muscle control which will require more balance then if you were to just throw the kick out there. Then, return to the parallel position and do a back heel kick and return to the front. It should take you a good 15-20 seconds to do so. Repeat it a few time on the right side, then switch to the left. If this is easy for you, do what I generally do and do it with your eyes closed. This will force you to feel your balance point (most of our balance comes from focal points) Some good yoga poses for balance are the Tree Pose, Warrior III, Half Moon, and Revolved Half Moon. The Key to staying balanced in these standing poses is to maintain proper hip alignment! Here's a good video that demonstrates how to get into each pose, they don't have the revolved half moon, but they do have revolved side angle which is good too!

Yoga is great, I might actually set up a section for yoga. Not only does it improve balance and flexibility but it's also great for muscle endurance and toning and also relieving stress. I don't do as much as I used to, but that's slowly changing!
