Remember when I mentioned the 2012 apocalypse. Well, the good news was that H.A.V.E.N was able to stop, contain, and prevent the apocalypse, the world was safe. The bad news was the demons and monsters from this tragedy didn't leave without taking a chunk of the world with them, this chunk...is the Flatlands.
A good ten miles away from Manhattan, twenty from Babylon the entire city landscape had been leveled, obliterated, and downright destroyed. To the point where it began to adapt desert-like qualities. The sand, the sun, that corny bull skull halfway buried...you catch my drift. Police try to stop publicity from making their way into this desolate place for their own safety, but most go without warning to figure out this newly uncharted territory. Well, unfortunately for them, they all tipped the dry and empty bucket into Oblivion. N.Y.P.D are ordered that anybody who goes in, in not allowed to come out, so if you do go in, it's a one way ticket unless given permission from the man who Runs the Flatlands, who that is, no one knows. The origin of any life in the Flatlands has been kept under wraps from the public eye.
The people who once had homes in this once beautiful location persisted on remaining in their new land, trying to recreate new homes from the remains and rubble that's left. As far as the rest of the country, and the world is concerned, this land doesn't even exist. Ironically, and fortunately, the destroyed land that was previously there was once known as Flatlands, New York, so the name remained the same when harassed about by press and other strong sources.
This area is also a strong gathering place for members of the Visio Dei category. The usual Visio Dei is a misunderstood outcast with nowhere to go with their newfound power forced to run from H.A.V.E.N members and find refuge in this uncharted terrain and basically outlaw themselves from society. This outlawing and outcast-ing, however does not pass by H.A.V.E.N. They make sure Visio Dei's are captured before they cause anymore havoc among the alleged people that choose to remain in Flatlands.
