Okay, I so had to shave off my deathhawk about a month ago to get a job at (take a breath) MACY'S. -.- I was none to happy about it, but they were the only place hiring, and I was desperate for cash. Have any of you had to sacrifice your looks to get a job? I mean I know there's places where they encourage that sort of thing, but they're always full up on employees in my area, and you need experience to even be considered (I have none). I always plan on wearing the big dangley belts and zippery zipper pants and all, but I guess in a work environment everybody needs to conform somehow.
Discuss: losing good hair getting a job in this economy etc.

I've never had anything particularly crazy except for long hair. I had hair almost down to my elbows, and I cut it all off for an interview at a bank. I didn't even get the job. Of course, I was already planning on cutting it before that, and it was just an excuse to go ahead and do it, but still. I work in a corporate environment at a Fortune 500 financial institution, and I've got shoulder length hair again though, so it all worked out. biggrin
I used to deliver pizza for Papa John's like 15 years ago, and they made me tuck my ponytail up underneath my hat. That was retarded, but at least I didn't have to cut it or anything. I worked as a mechanic for a little while, and they made me do the same thing, but that was for safety purposes more than anything.

My hair was deathawked once, and I wasn't too fond of it. I prefer keeping my hair "normal" as far as those constraints go, so I usually don't need to worry about it. **Or some semblance of normal....

I had a purple Chelsea cut for awhile, but I had to cut it off for an interview at Panera Bread, I looked like a total Skin but I still got the job, it only lasted about 3 months before I quit though. I've had pretty normal hair ever since, I just rock a bedhead most of the time. But I'd cut my hair without much regret to get a job, I really need money, I could walk in the door with green liberty spikes and a Hitler 'stache if I wanted without getting in trouble where I work now, but I put in my two weeks today and have to find another place of employment fast so I have to be semi-presentable.

I normally wear a devilock (more fauxhawk than mohawk-based), and I've only ever had to cut it off for a court date I had to attend. I work in a fairly elite field, though, so when I work, I comb it off to the side in a way that hides it. So, I guess I've designed my hairstyle in such a way that it's easily concealed.

No, but I'd bet they give you more s**t if you walk in with a hawk.

I'm well-spoken, and my case was actually a civil case where I was trying to get a restraining order against my neighbor. I blend in pretty well with "normal" folks if I try. I was trying to not give the judge an easy reason not to like me, and a mohawk when you're facing off against a middle-aged woman is a handicap. rofl

The only things I've done with my hair have been that I slicked it back, and also dyed it. First black, then that wore off, then neon red which also wore off, and now I've dyed it blonde. I've expressed interest in getting dreads before for some reason or another, which now that I think about it isn't a good idea. As for other hairstyles, I don't think there's a lot that I want.

I had a deathawk during my last job. I never put it up now.
But now I have a medium-length hair cut, that I just slightly tease. and I lost the job after I cut it. The irony. lol
I've also never had a court-date because I can talk my way out of anything.

Nope. I am a singer and musician me self and I forunately don't have to do that. Not to mention it's quite fun. And what do I do for a 'real' job? Play on the street during the day, at night in clubs.

wig.
I have a deathhawk, that is long to my... tits? (lol) so its long hair. shaped in a oldschool deathhawk with sideburns. I'm a photographer and I'm a student. no I dont have problems with my hair but if I'll need something for work, a wig will be a solution. (If you ask me) If not, going bald. why not? I'd have a reason why to tattoo my head razz

Well I used to have a lot of different hair cuts and colors. Mohawk, deathawk, chelsea, Anna-varney kind of hair cut etc... And for hair colors, almost everything from black to neon pink, except bleached blonde. But now I'm 26, I need to find a job that pays the bills so I live with my long black hair, dreaming of someday having my deathawk back if I can live on my music...
