 Much in the world has gone awry lately. Across the globe, strange things have been happening.
People struck with mysterious illnesses with no apparent cause or cure...
The child watched as spots appeared across her skin, fascinated as patches of skin darkened into the strange purple color. She didn't have the sense to be afraid. At least, not until the pain began, only moments before her body evaporated.
Creatures from fiction attacking the peoples of the Earth. Vampires, werewolves, and strange beings that could only be called the most horrific of names.
It was in the house, stalking quietly through each room so that it would not awaken its prey. One by one, it killed them all, feeling absolutely nothing but the desire to extinguish the bright life forms that pained its eyes. Only the husband had seen it, the dark shadow of dread and fear, and he had no time to warn the others of the fate that they would all share.
Mysterious disappearances of people...objects...even entire places...
The travellers rode on as swiftly as they could. They had to warn everyone they could about the horrendous spread of monsters and wychery. The next town should be just over that hill-
But it wasn't. The town was gone. There were no people, no animals, no buildings. Even the land itself had vanshed, leaving only a great black chasm from which even light would find no escape.

A few months after the world began to change, a rumor snaked its way through each town, city, continent.
"There is a river that holds all of the memories of the Earth, from the time it was born to now, to the memories that have yet to come. What would happen if someone were to find that river?"
The rumor ignited hope within the humans. If the humans could gain control of the river, they could discover the cause of the Earth's change. Maybe they could even change it!
Other creatures were interested too, but not for the Earth's memories of years past. The river also contained 'memories' of the future. How powerful could someone become, with that sort of knowledge?
The river known as Mnemosyne was now sought by all.

A figure perched next to a river, as if standing guard over it. He didn't touch it though. He had no interest in viewing that lay in the water. The being looked away from Mnemosyne, the river of memories; towards the faraway lands from which the intruders would come.
"How exciting."A disclaimer: This roleplay can be found in Barton under the same title. However, it will say that the Author is Aurelia the Neko Witch. That is my other account and I am not plagiarizing. Even PM that account if you want for an explanation. The setting is a sort of dystopian future. So pretty much, anything goes, be it ball gowns or hand grenades.

Rules
-Alrighty, a few basic rules. As with all decent roleplays, I will allow violence, romance, and swearing, but in reasonable amounts. You know the terms of service.
-Ask permission before you kill someone's character.
-I ask for a minimum of five sentences per post, with as decent spelling as you can manage. The minimum is for writers block, I actually hope you will give me more than that. Put some effort into your work and have pride as a roleplayer.
-No bashing. Just don't even go there. I mean, your character may have an opinion, but please be respectful of other people's views and life choices.
-Please, please be active. Don't leave fellow roleplayers high and dry. If you are having problems coming up with a post, then feel free to ask for help. For people who are posting with someone that's just stopped posting, leave and go do something else. I ask that you give them at least 24 hours, but if you find yourself waiting for about a week, it's time to move on with the rest of the roleplay.
-I ask that the OOC is kept to a minimum. If you must chatter back and forth, do so in Pms.
-Leet is punishable by death. Period.
-Send profiles to me titled "I forgot to remember." DO NOT POST WITHOUT BEING ACCEPTED BY ME!
-Hey, I like pretty posts. Can you make pretty posts? For me? Decorations are lovely.
-You can be anything you want, within reason. No gods or demi-gods.
-If you wanna raise the dead, fine. I'm just going to let you know that there had better be some sacrifices made. Like, an equal amount of lives. Animation is not the same thing as ressurection, so zombies are fine.
-In this roleplay, I am God. Buahahaha.
-Have lots and lots of fun!!! xd

ProfilesBoysWho Is Your Puppeteer? NanashiSidhe What Did Your Parents Name You? Well, I don't really have parents, but I am called Hikiai Crow. What Are You Called? Mostly I go by Hikiai, but if I really really like you, I might let you call me Hiki. If You Died Today, How Old Would You Be? Why sir, if I died today, it would be at the very young age of two hundred and thirty four. What Gender Were You Born? Well, I'm a guy of course! Couldn't you tell? What Are You? Well, specifically, I am a trickster spirit of the crow variety. My purpose is to stir things up! Can You Do Anything Special? Why sure. First and foremost, I am a shapeshifter. I can turn into a giant crow and back. Secondly, I can communicate with and control crows. Finally, as a trickster spirit, I can change the seeming of things. A human might tag this as illusions, but my way sounds cooler. Do You Have Any Special Skills? I have a keen nose for interesting things. This is useful in my line of work. I'm very good with heights. I have one of the best information networks ever. I lie very, very well. Tell Me More About Your Life. Initially, I was born human. I was an orphan, so I spent most of my childhood bouncing around from foster home to foster home. I didn't really mind, though. Even then, I loved for things to stay interesting. In fact, I got so bored with normal life, that I began to play some rather dangerous pranks. Needless to say, I landed in the jailhouse by the time I was fifteen. I stayed there for two years. When I got out, I spent my first night of freedom out on the street. I had decided that being in foster care was too boring, so I ran away before I could be shoved back into the system. Well, that night, I saw this guy. Dark coloring, boring clothing. He was completely unextraordinary, yet for some reason, I felt that this guy would be interesting. So I approached him. This guy said that he was a master of pranks. At first I was rather offended by him, because he accused me of being an amature, of being boring for having been caught. Then he offered to teach me his trade. I didn't realize he was The Trickster, master of the Trickster spirits, so I doubted him and declined his offer. He kept bugging me for months. It got rather annoying, actually. After awhile, his persistance bored me, so I agreed to his offer just for a change of pace. That was when he made me into the Crow Trickster. Since then, it has been my duty to search out interesting happening and stir them up, or to create them when things are running slow. How Do Others See You? Well, I tend to come off as really shallow, and I suppose I am. I live for interesting and fun things, and will drop something in a minute if I think it is boring. I can be mean-spirited if I think it will get me what I want, and I have absolutely no sympathy for others. I am manipulative and calculating, doing things that will suit me or my purpose. I can be patient if I think it is worth it, but I prefer not to be. Most people don't see these qualities until I am through with them of course. I am very good at lying, and so I make an effort to appear like the sort of person to be around. If I decide that I truly like something, which has only ever happened once, then I become very, very possessive of it. In a way, I am very muh like a child. Is There Anything Else I Should Know? My crows are my only consistant friends. While the Mnemosyne situation and the apocalypse that started it are both interesting, none of the Tricksters started it. †Curiosity killed the cat...
The monster had nearly caught up with the travellers now. The poor humans ran as fast as they could, but really, they were only human. They were no match for the beast who sought to devour them now. It's not even as if they had ever had hope that they could get away. The beast had given them a head start to toy with them, that was all. Now it hovered over one of them, preparing to devour its hapless victim.
Hikiai sighed, observing the whole affair from the tree branch. Things like this never used to happen. It used to be that the few supernatural creatures that did exist made sure that humans suspected nothing of their existance. However, within the past few months, things had kind of gotten out of hand. Hikiai had spent most of those first months trying to figure out which trickster had caused the whole thing, since they used to be the only ones who would pull this kind of mayhem. It hadn't taken Hikiai long to figure out that whatever was happening was beyond the powers of any trickster. None of this was a trick.
'These events are very interesting though,' Hikiai noted as the beast wandered off to find new prey. Hikiai did enjoynew and interesting things, and these times certainly fit that category. Hikiai was feeling that this would become rather boring soon. Chaos could only be interesting for so long before it just became annoying.
'Maybe I should start to search for something new,' Hikiai pondered, jumping down from his tree branch to examine what was left of the two travellers now that the beast was gone. Just because Hikiai was long-lived did not guarantee he was immortal, and Hikiai rather enjoyed life. Approaching the remains, Hikiai picked up a pouch from one of the corpses and began rifling through it. He dumped two water bottles, a few boxes of food, and various camping gear on the ground before he found a sheet of folded paper. Curious, he opened the paper and read it.
"Clues to Mnemosyne," he read aloud. He was silent for a few moments after that.
"What is Mnemosyne?" he wondered. The thought caused him to smile. Hikiai Crow had just found something interesting!
...But satisfaction brought it back†
