The Best Years of Our Lives. . .

Story

In the medical break-through of the millium, Human kind has finally solved one of the most important mysteries of life. . .

Immortality.

However, it wasn't what they expected. . . The secret lay in technology. By merging the human body with a machine, living forever finally came into the realm of possibility. Though, at a cost. That cost being individuality. Those who merged with machines came to be known as "Normals" and those who did not were. . . Well, never really referred to by normal folk, but the Military (You see, in a world where everyone is merged with machines and all linked up to share a consciousness. . . Did I mention that? The only way to live forever is to submit your individual thought and become a part of the HIVE (Hyper-Intuitive Virtual Entity) Mind. And when such a population controlling technology becomes available, it is only a matter of time before the Military sinks their claws into it and takes control.) refer to those who have yet to merge as "Abnormals".

Upon turning 18, and Abnormal is put through the Immortality Process known as Order 8. Prior to turning 18, all Abnormals are kept in special facilities where they are force-fed propaganda which makes them -want- to merge with the HIVE Mind. However, sometimes people just don't bite. . . These people, as they quickly came to be known, are called Rebels.

The Rebels cause to to stop people from joining the HIVE Mind and bring back Individuality to a world that has none. However, it won't be easy. . . Abnormals are easy to spot. You see, when you merge with a machine, your entire appearance changes in a very, very short span of time. Your remaining physical parts become overweight and your massive machinery changes your silhouette entirely. It is not strange for a Normal to weight in at 500 pound and over and be upwards of 7 feet tall. Where such proportions are considered "Normal" you can see how the Abnormals stand out so much. . .

Not only are they easy to spot, but with a "Shot first, no questions" attitude, being a "Abnormal" in public can be very, very dangerous. . .

The Abnormal's goals are to gather information on Order 8, and learn as much as they can about the HIVE Mind. Grim discoveries and horrifying revelations await our hero's, but it will be up to them, in the end, to decide the fate of the New World.

Rules

First and farmost, this is my world. It's only existed (In my mind) for about 30 minutes, maybe less. With that said, it is no where near developed and I may add/change things as I see fit (Only if I feel they benefit and improve the story/world as a whole). I will also be adding to the Terms frequently, so keep an eye open.

.:: 1 ::. No god moding, power playing, etc, etc.
.:: 2 ::. Be realistic. Take damage, get caught, don't do insane acrobatic maneuvers all the time.
.:: 3 ::. Romance and Violence make just about everything go around, don't they? Just don't get carried away.
.:: 4 ::. Try and stick to the plot. (If you can call "gather information" a plot > > )
.:: 5 ::. Cursing is fine, but remember, you grew up in captivity. Probably won't know much of it.
.:: 6 ::. Profiles are to be PM's to me for approval! Title the PM "The Best Years of Our Lives!" So I know what it is for!

Terms

Normal - Normals are people who have gone through Order 8, the Immortality Process. Normals have merged with machines and changed their appearances drastically. They weight upwards of 750 pounds and can be more than 7 feet tall. Also, all Normals are morbidly obese.

Abnormals - Abnormals are those who have yet to go through Order 8, the Immortality Process. They look like you and I, but have been sheltered all their life, so adapting to the real world may be quite a challenge for them.

Order 8 - Order 8 is the Immortality Process, wherein Human's sacrifice their limbs and minds to be granted everlasting life. Though, it may not be all that it is cracked up to be. . .

The HIVE Mind - The HIVE (Hyper-Intuitive Virtual Entity) Mind is a massive super-computer which all Normals have been linked up to. The HIVE is able to control the population and keeps everyone in check. The HIVE Mind is respected as something of a god, for if anything should happen to the HIVE Mind, all those linked would simply perish. (Of course, this is not common knowledge ;P )

Need-To-Know's

This RP takes place in a future where Immortality is a reality. The Immortality Process, known as Order 8 is where a person undergoes an operation in which they are merged with a machine. To merge with a machine, the legs are removed at mid-thigh and replaced with a lower mechanical half which holds they energy unit and anything they might need to preform their duties. Most Normals use tracks, but some have mechanical legs.

Next, the Arms are removed mid-bicep. They are replaced with specialized arm units which most effectively allow a Normal to preform their duties. But perhaps the most important thing a Normal looses during Order 8 is their individuality. When becoming Immortal, one must sacrifice their free thought to join the HIVE Mind.

In a very short time after becoming Immortal, Normals human parts begin to swell with fat. It is not strange for a Normal to weight in at 750 pounds or higher and stand (or sit) at upwards of 7 feet tall.

Every city on Earth is complete with massive high-rise buildings (Ever see The Fifth Element? Think about that, but with a lot more blacks, grays, and smog.) Also, the primary source of transit is Hover Vehicles. (Again, think The Fifth Element. If you haven't sen it, its pretty good. Bruce Willis is awesome! Plus, Milla Jovovich shows her boobs ;P Just Google it to find pictures. (Of the High Rises and Hover Cars, not Milla's boobies. Though, I can;t stop you.))

As far as Weapons have come, we still use the good old projectiles. No laser-guns are to be had here. For now, that is all. I will update this when necessary.
