NAME OF LOCATION -Noctus Reticuli DESCRIPTION - Noctus Reticuli is a one of a kind planetary body located in the Beta Quadrant thus far. It is located quite a ways from the system's star, making it very dark. However, it is still warm and habitable. The reason is thanks to large amounts of carbon dioxide in the upper reaches of the body's atmosphere, and alot of tidal shifting from its parent planet. The thing that makes it so rare, and such a find is that Noctus Reticuli is a moon orbiting a large gas giant in the system, and is something that no one on the survey team expected to find. LOCATION - Noctus Reticuli is located in Sector J-14. PEOPLE -There are no people native to this moon, and no other living plants or animals, however, the air is breathable, and the temperature is stable enough to support human life. CLIMATE -The climate of the moon is actually quite warm and humid, however, the lack of heat and sunlight from the sun keeps it at a cozy temperature year round as opposed to having seasons. The moon is heated by the thermal radiation of its parent planet, but the magnetic field of the small moon due to its molten core protects it from any deadly radiation. This makes auroras a nightly sight in the skies across most of the moon. The moon is lit only by the reflection of the star's light off of its parent planet. RESOURCES -None on the moon itself, however the asteroid field that separates the host planet from the rest of the system is rich in dilithium ore. ASTRONOMICAL DATA - The other planets of the system are nothing special. They are not extraordinary in any way and provide no effects on the region that would effect space battles, or aid in colonization.

The New Deal and the Blitzkrieg drop out of warp and enter orbit of the gas giant. George Marcus orders a sensor sweep of the gas giant as the two ships begin slowly mapping the system, a process that could take a while.

After mapping the gas giant's storm systems for a day and a half the Blitzkrieg launches a probe into the gas giant's atmosphere to take readings and to scan for any possible air-borne microbes (always a possibility with gas giants) before entering orbit of the moon Noctus Reticuli. The New Deal soon joins Blitzkrieg in orbit. George Marcus makes some notes in his log to check the probe's data in a day or two, then orders a standard mapping scan of the surface.

After a day of mapping the planet and charting a primary ocean and a single continent, Captain Marcus orders the New Deal and the BLitzkrieg to begin mapping the asteroid belt after picking up the probe. The New Deal enters the asteroid field and begins scanning while the Blitzkrieg Retrieves the probe.

The Blitzkrieg hails the New Deal saying that the probe found not just microrganisms in the gas giant's upper atmosphere but complex life forms as well. Captain Marcus sends the data to DS12 for analysis, just as the ship's sensors detect a large planetoid filled with Dilithium. He turns to Susan and tells her to extract some samples. "This system just keeps getting more and more unique," He says to no one in particular. He then orders the Blitzkrieg to launch a probe into the ocean of Noctus Reticuli to scan for the beginnings of life (basic amino acids, etc.).

The New Deal extracts 1 ton of dilithium from the large planetoid to study as the Blitzkrieg launches a probe into Noctus Reticuli's oceans. The crew of the New Deal study the samples for a full day before the ship reunites with the Blitzkrieg as it retrieves the probe. A quick analysis of the data shows the presence of simple organic hydro-carbons in the planet's oceans but nothing else. With the two crews slightly disappointed, the two ships move back to the asteroid field to map it.

Captain Marcus turns to Susan. "How are the ship's systems holding up? With all the tight turns we have to take I don't want to suddenly lose power again." She goes over to am auxiliary engineering station and brings up a status readout. "The SIF and the navigation deflector are showing a bit of strain, probably due to the nearness of al these asteroids." "Notify the Blitzkrieg that we are leaving the asteroid field. I want to relieve the strain on those systems for a while." "Okay," Susan heads over to the com console and relays the message to the Blitzkrieg. "Taking her out of the field." John says as the New Deal moves around a small asteroid and into a clear section of space. "Tell the Blitzkrieg to move into open space to, Susan," George says to her. "We might as well all take a break and go over our sensor data." Kate says, "I'll download the sensor data into seperate PADDs." Susan gets done relaying the Blitzkrieg their orders. "Good idea, I'll take the mapping data of the planet." "I'll go study some of that Dilithium ore to see how good a quality it is," Stan says as he heads to the turbolift. John turns to Kate and says, "I'd like to look at all the mapping data on asteroid field." Kate hands Susan a PADD with the mapping data for Noctus Reticuli and begins to download the mapping data gathered so far on the asteroid field into another. "What sensor data would you like, Captain?" She says. "Give me the data from the probe that was launched into the gas giant and also an overview of the system in general." George says to her as SUsan leaves in the bridge. Julie says, "I'll stay on the bridge and run checks on the weapons and tactical scanners." "Okay," George say to her. "We'll all meet in the conference room in 4 hours. Pass that on to Stan, okay?" "Sure, I can do that. Julie says. Kate hands John the mapping data he asked for and starts downloading the data George asked for. "I think I'll just stay here and check the seismic scan we took of the planet." She hands George the PADD when the data is finished downloading. George takes the PADD and heads to his office. "Alert me if anything happens," he says as the doors shut behind him.

George enters the conference room 4 hours later to find everyone else already there. He sits down and places the PADD with the probe's data in front of him and says, "Since we are all here let's begin. First, I didn't see any thing new in the data from the probe we launched into the gas giant's atmosphere. From the overview, though I have decided that this would definitely be a good system to colonize and expand Marcus ENterprises in. Stan, what did you find from your study of the Dilithium sample?" Stan hands a PADD to George and says, "A detailed analysis is in the PADD but simply put, the ore was of good quality and a mining operation in this system would be very lucrative if the rest of the Dilithium in the system is of similar quality." "Good, then we don't have to worry about starting revenue." George says. He turns to Kate. "What did the seismic scan of the planet show?" "Other than volcanic activity in some of the mountains," She says, "The planet's surface is pretty stable with only minor seismic disturbances." "Very good," George says. He turns to Susan and asks, "What about that mapping data of the planet's surface? Any good spots to put a colony?" "There are several." Susan says, "But I would put it on the Eastern coast of the continent. It is the best place to put a landing field for support craft and the nearby mountains are a good place to put a hangar of defense fighters." George turns to John. "What about the mapping data on the asteroid field?" "Well," John says. "From what we have so far we can accurately chart the orbits of about a quarter of the asteroids. I think that is a good start, after all, we can always map the rest of the field if we need to." "I agree," George says. He turns to Julie, "Any thing to report about the tactical systems?" "Nothing other than that they are operating smothly," She says. George address everyone in general, "I think we should apply to claim this system now. I'll contact DS12 with our claim over subspace. Susan, I want you to call the Blitzkrieg and have them Join us in orbit of Noctus Reticuli. Dismissed." He gets up from the table and heads to his office and files a claim on the system to DS12 as the New Deal joins up with the Blitzkrieg in orbit of Noctus Reticuli.

After a delay a message comes in verifying their claim of the system. George logs a message to the Com relay inviting Independant factions to invest in a Joint colony.
