I think it has been, because the first thing I hear most people say is a comment on the graphics when they first see a game. Yea, graphics are good and all, but what happened to Lair? Beautiful game, but horrendous controls, and it failed misserably. And games with amazing graphics tend to get praised a lot more than games with not that great of graphics.

Well people see the graphics, as the best part of the game. If you are gamer (sort of like me) It contends around the layout of the game, graphics(good or bad), game play, and controls...etc...
Most people now a days will go mostly for graphics when they don't really care for what the actual game is. Though not only does the outline of the game make it was it is, so does the graphics.
