is there a song you think he should have reworked, or he could have done better with? a song you maybe utterly hate and wish he hadn't written?

i shall go first.
"under pressure". purely because when i was taking my GCSEs (16+ exams) i had that song stuck in my head through the entire exam season.
i'd be reading an exam question, "question 16. if a train is travelling at 80 mph, and is..."
and suddenly my trail of thought would be interrupted by "dun dun dun duh nuh nuh nuh... dun dun dun duh nuh nuh nuh...".
maddening! i blame freddie mercury. talk2hand

I know this is pretty bad because technically this is the song that put him on the map... but I never liked 'Space Oddity' eek !!!
It's grown on me a tiny bit over the years... so I no longer automatically skip it if it's on my music player... but I'm still not crazy about it...
I'm horrrible for that, right? sweatdrop

Yea I always liked how he does have this interesting way of revisiting his past. Ashes to Ashes is a great song.

I was living in a holy terror that I was the only Bowie fan who did not love this song.
It's not that I hate it. I just don't love it. I wouldn't be repulsed by it if it came on over the radio, but I wouldn't set out to deliberately listen to it, either. The lyrics are all right, but they don't particularly speak to me, and neither does the melody.

I don't know what it is, maybe it's played on the radio too much or something, but yea, I never cared for this one. I actually like his original sixties arrangement of this song better... But even still, not enough to make me want to listen to it...

Aww, I know what you mean. I definitely like it better than the original that Iggy Pop did, but his ultra-popular hits have never really been favorites of mine. I like China Girl when he does this song during concerts, cause he usually gets very animated... lol... but as far as listening to it on the radio/CD/music player... I don't care for it much..

6-ThursdaysChild-9 I.... I never liked China Girl This must be what a support group feels like There, there. Everything will be all right! I dunno... I kinda like it, in a way. It's not the first song I think of or want to listen to when I think of Bowie, though. "Space Oddity" has never been my favorite. Maybe there's some hidden meaning to it, but I just can't get into it. It just sounds like some special on aerospace engineering on the History Channel.

There's plenty of Bowie songs that I don't like. With the exception of Heathen, and a few select songs (New Killer Star, Dead Man Walking and Seven Years in Tibet for example), I've never really enjoyed any of the post-Let's Dance albums. They're too modern and too electronic, and his voice sounds like it's being fed through some sort of voice distorter.
I also don't like a handful of songs on his debut album, Space Oddity and Hunk Dory. It's not that they're bad songs, there's just nothing special about them. None of that Bowie spark.
Oh, and It Ain't Easy. Whenever I listen to Ziggy Stardust, I don't pay attention to that song because I'm busy thinking that Sweet Head should be in that slot.
Oh, and someone above me mentioned China Girl. I'm not fussed on that one either, but at least it's better than Iggy Pop's version. gonk
