Hey you guys. I'm currently working on writing a book of short stories. Here is one of them. Please tell me what you think. It's not very long. Hence, short stories. But I'm still going to give it to you in small segments; to not take up much cyber space. lol

Always a Child

Hey! Look at me! I’m over here. Can’t you see me? Why isn’t anyone listening to me? Oh no! Look out kid! You almost hit me with that ball. Why am I here? How did I get here? Listen to my story, I am about to explain how I got into this state of being.

The last thing I can remember, I was seven years old and eating a drumstick. Chicken is my favorite food. Just thinking about it is making me hungry. Hey kid, go tell your mother to bring us some chicken. A lot of chicken!

Now, where was I? Oh yeah, I was talking about how I got here. Or rather, how I became this solid piece of mass. A mere shell of me, okay; I’m a clay figure. So what?!

I was running down the hallway towards my father’s room. He was a King, a great King. Although, I’m not exactly sure what kind of King he was, but he was great!

My father placed a necklace around my neck. It was a gift my mother left for me. This made me happy and sad at the same time. My mother had passed away about six months earlier. Now, my father the King, was about to acquire his new Queen which meant I would have a new mother. I was not pleased about this.

Part 2 as Promised.

I left my father’s room and headed for the Queen’s bedroom. She spotted the necklace my father had given me, and said that she had something for me as well. She gave me a bracelet. It was nice I suppose. But, I missed my mother. And I did not feel comfortable with this new woman.

I could only think of my mother not being here to hold me anymore. I started crying. She gave me this odd look, like I was the one with the problem, the one who was invading her home. The look on her face was that of disgust. Her features became distorted. She looked as though a lemon had become stuck in her mouth.

Here we were at the King’s Wedding. My father was about to announce his Queen, my new mother. As she was coming down the long hallway, I snuck around the corner and stuck my tongue out at her. She smiled and said that she had a surprise for me. But, I couldn’t get it until after she was named Queen because it was a gift of royalty. It was a gift that would last me a lifetime. One in which I could never part with. This sort of intrigued me.

The Conclusion

The King just finished announcing his new Queen. Now it was time to exchange gifts. The Queen called me to her side. She had this really strange smile on her face. I asked my father about it, and he said that all newly married women have that look.
The Queen took my hand and looked deeply into my eyes. A dreaded fear came upon me. The next thing I knew, I had become this clay form. This was over a thousand years ago. I am still this little girl, a child who only wanted to look upon the beauty of her mother and to listen to her lullabies as I drifted off to sleep.
I used to sneak quietly into my mother’s room and watch her as she was brushing her hair. She would glance up at me and sigh. “I’m so bored. I have nothing to do.” She would then flip her hair to the side and ask me if I had any ideas to keep her from being bored. Naturally, my response was always, “Let’s play.” And, to this very day, I keep hearing those words pounding away inside my head.

I am trapped as this young girl inside this empty form which has hardened over the years. As for my future, I have only memories to keep my company. The memories of my mother and my father help the long lonely days go by. But then there are those instances where I can only see the look in the Queens eyes, just before I became this mere clay image of myself.
