Whats your favorite Kenpo Technigue? Also why?
My favorite is Back Breaker and is a 2nd degree black belt technique. Its my favorite because you break their back, breack their neck, smach them into the ground, and at the end you break their collar bone.

It's hard to choose one but I have a few that I like for differing reasons.
First off: Five Swords
The qintessential kenpo technique in my opinion. It exemplifies some of the more complex ideas that Mr. Parker had-Attacking all of the different width deminsions in an onslaught of calculated and powerful blows. (I warn you I'm half way through the blue belt tech list so I am limited in what techniques I do know...by name anyway as I've worked on a few BB techs that I didn't catch the name of)
The technique also opens the door for so many different variations of movement and I've found that you can begin with Five Swords and ultimately, with strategic changing of a single move, lead into almost any other technique. I believe, but may be completely wrong in saying, that Five Sword is a Master Key technique. And if in fact, it isn't....it damn well should be!
Another of my favorites is Thundering hammer...I love that it demonstrates with the first strike the importance of relaxation until contact. If the hand is positioned correctly and the strike is done right the blow acts as a suction cup and can effectively interfere with the hearts beat. That...and I just love this tech! It's got a lot of power in it.
Another one I love...and I'm beginning to see a trend here...is Leaping Crane...but you have to do the extention with it because it's just amazing! If you are basing your choice on shear burtality...this is a good one!
It's hard to think of other techs...I know these are all low on the list but we've recently gone back to the beginning and have been focusing on the nuances of techs in the lower levels and these are a few that we've focused on.

There is no this or that technique. There is only one technique... one single, fluid motion.

We have a saying in our group...'it all comes back to delayed sword'
Back when I was going for purple belt, I believe it was, I had to piece together my own form for the test and joking said I was going to base it on delayed sword but never actually do the tech in the form...little did I know that I could actually get away with that. It was a learning experience. I learned that even if you made a valid point by being a smartass you still got to do some push ups!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XaCoe2j0ig its kinda like this except more power(this guy didnt have much because he just made it tip not slide back and tip,lol its fun to see peoples faces when they almost get crushed and sliding) anyway you jump off one foot kick with the other and the kick is a side kick.!!! do a running jump and start the leap about 7 feet from the bag!!!1,you do a small step like as if a little box is there2.next jump off other foot 3.turn your body in air and do a side kick.4.land without hurting yourself lol Ive been jumped over by a person up to my shoulder and he jumped over seven people!!!!(im like 5,5) heart heart heart this kicks wicked!

Yeah, pretty f*ing gnarly! Is there any sort of practical (street defensive fighting) application for it? In what circumstance would you use it?
I see one potential problem with this kick, for self defense purposes anyway, in that...typically when someone confronts you, you aren't far enough away, or have enough time to set yourself up, to execute a kick in which you have to get a running start.
I am not trying to discredit it at all! I want to be clear of that...I was just wondering how and why you are taught this kick! I really am curious, cause if it's got a good application, I'd totally try to incorporate it into some of my working.

ok people remember its youtube lol and you dont need to do a running jump unless you are going to attack the person from far away. It works really well because you get A LOT of power. its really good when sparring and such cause you dont need a stance or anything just the right technique to get maximum power

I still don't see about good application. If someone attacks me like that, I'll just move out of the way.
And I don't see as to why calling it technique, as it's just a kick without any strategy or tactic.
Only way I could see it being used is maybe throwing a couple of distracting puches and then jumping in place (with no running start) and throwing the kick like that. But still, if your opponent is skilled enough, he/she can still avoid it, block it with minimum damage or worse, counter attack with the kicker still in the air, which would be bad for the kicker..
Can you tell us an experience that you've had or have you seen it being used effectively? (effectively meaning, the kicker being able to succesfully use the kick against an opponent without getting hurt)
