My first review is on a set of books. Mistborn Novels by Brandon Sanderson.
The first 3 books revolve around Vin a reluctant Allomancer ( a person with the power to internally burn metals for abilities. Some believe mystically but to this reader it seamed more like Psionics) Her friends and the death of those friends and enemies. The series is a wonderful read until the last 3 chapters. To me at the end it was a coup out by the author. I'm not going to give away the story even in part except to say the ending was anticlimactic. The rest of the series had me gripping the books hard enough to leave fingerprints but at the end, and you can see it coming, I was let down. If I could rewrite it I wouldn't change anything but the last 24 pages. I really did enjoyed reading the series , I think you would to.

Okay, my book is Carmilla. I forget who it's by.
Carmilla is a book written way back in the late 1800's, I believe after Stoker's Dracula. The story centers around a girl, Laura, who takes in a strange, beautiful woman into her home/castle. Laura becomes very good friends with the woman and learns that her name is Carmilla. Carmilla is not perfect however; she is very lethargic in the daytime as a result of a past "illness". She constantly locks her door every night for "fear of robbers". Her teeth are pointy "like a fish" and she never leaves her room until well in the afternoon. Soon after taking Carmilla in, Laura starts to realize that her health is declining. Carmilla also starts acting strange, even to the point of seducing Laura (oh yeah, lesbian vampire). Carmilla is soon found out to be the vampire, tracked to her coffin, beheaded, and burned. Laura goes back to normal, and they all live happily (if still vaguely in fear of the Undead) ever after.
I'd give it 3/5. It was a *little* long and it digressed often.

Time for review #2!!!
The Year of Secret Assignments by Jaclyn Moriarty
The book focuses around three girls: Cassie, Emily (or Em), and Lydia. These girls have been friends since pre-k (or whatever it's called in Australia) even though the past year left difficult changes for the girls. All three are part of this letter exchanging program between two rival schools, and all three are paired up with guys. Hilarity and horror ensue between the heated letters, and secrecy and deceit are rampant. The six students decide to break the rules and meet their letter buddies in real life. Emily goes on a practice date with her penpal so he can score a girl. Lydia makes her "date" into a spy story. Cassie gets stood up, but then meets the boy, who is nothing like she expected.
The book is romance, but it's got a lot of humor and random teenage girl and guy thoughts. I'd give it a 5/5.

I have many books that I just love. Some of the series I have already finished is the Rhapsody series, The Wayfarer Redemption series, and the Twilight series. I am currently reading the series by Laurell K. Hamilton.
Guilty Pleasures
by Laurell K. Hamilton
This book has all your vampires and some of the were creatures as well as all the other undead that walk arround, like gouls and zombies. The main character is Anita Blake. She is an animator (which raises the dead), not only that but she also slave vampires. The master vampire(500 yr old little girl about the age of 12) of the city wants her to solve a case. The master vampire wants to know who is killing the other older vampires. Anita is also a suspect as well. She indores many things while trying to figure out who is behind it. She has an old friend who is also one of the oldest vampires, John Claude. He is the owner of the bar Guilty Pleasures, a vampire club. The master of the vampires punishes John Claude for saving Anita's live, by putting him in a coffin with silver crosses on it. John Claude saved her by marking(turning) her into a human servant, which she refuses to do anything for him. With the help of some of the others she defeats the master and frees John Claude.
There are many other things that happen in the book, but I will let you read it and find out all the good and juicy stuff. I give the book a 5/5. The auther draws you into the book with the characters to where you don't want to put the book down.

Rhapsody series and The Wayfarer Redemption series! Are you snaking my library? Both are excellent. Rhapsody( the girl not the book) is my fav followed by the King Achmed the Snake.

No she isn't, but Teffy did leave them in Texas with all the funiture. When we came out to Cali she left a bunch of things behind in her dad's storage, until the house sells. Although King Achemed is one of my favorite characters. They both are great series. I haven't read the L.K. Hamilton ones yet though so I couldn't let you` know on that one though.

#3: Thirsty Once again, I forget the author.
This book really sucked. Ouch. No pun intended. It's about this boy who finds out he's becomming a vampire. First, they made vampirism a disease, then they made the mob scenes really gory. And vampires are apperantly cannibals also. So the boy is trying to kill the vampire lord. He succeeds, but only 'cause the vampire lord was depressed and suicidal anyways. But the boy believes that if he kills the vampire lord, he won't be a vampire anymore. Guess what? He still is. So the book leaves off where he's in his room going, "What the heck do I do now?" All his friends have abandoned him and his parents suspect he's on drugs. THE END.
1/5. It doesn't even deserve that. I'm officially in need of a good book to read.

That's Homer's "Odyssey". It is action packed but not an easy read. Other authors have used the title but most do not write 5000 page books.

Movies I watched this week end GI Joe and Halloween 2.
GI Joe is a good remake/rewrite of the cartoon story. They even throw in the Joe catch phrase "Knowing is half the battle"
Halloween 2 again a rewrite of the original. Gory and violent. For horror movie buffs it's a must see.
On a side note They showed the preview for the next Saw movie. Can't stand those. They claim it about a lesson but it just one torture trap after another. If you do gore don't pretty it up with the message " I'm teaching you a lesson" crap. At least Jason and Michael don't talk your head off they just cut it off.
