I tend to dabble in writting short stories. My favorite author is Stephen King, though i tend to try and adapt a fantasy writting style like margerette weis and tracy hickman. What do you guys do for writting ideas and styles?

I am actually working on a romance novel at the moment. I have ten chapters down so far, and as well as writing, I love reading them. Sure people think they are a little explict, but I like the murder mystery ones. Anyways, I like those of Nora Roberts to probably for non romance Dean Koontz. Hmm i like stephen king, but his writing tends to be a little scary for me, and slightly gory

Thats cool i tried doing a fantasy Book a while back i had 3 chapters down, but i have a certain ending in mind for the book and i don't like so I've put the book in hiatus for now. Whats your favorite Dean Koontz book?

Wow, there are so many i like, but it would have to be my first book i ever read by him "The Door To December" it gave me the heebie jeebies, but it was amazingly written and so good!
i am on chapter ten of my book biggrin

I've read The House of Thunder by koontz, i like that one have you read it?
Yea i stopped on chapter 3, because the only ending i have that i like kills off the main character and i don't want to do that to him. So i refuse to continue till i can come up with a better ending for him.

In all seriousness, I've tried to write before.. they all ended up being cheesy and done before. I guess I have no imagination when it comes to writing.

We should try to have a writing contest when we have a few more members here. I think we could all try and show case our best stories.

Eh I would probably lose the contest because most of what I write has to do with how I'm feeling or parts of my life =P but since I do think of a couple movie ideas every now and then I guess I could try to turn one into a story though it's not gonna be very short ^^;

Lately been working on my masterpiece(as I like to call it).
It's to be my series sci-fi.

And we could have a short story contest maybe.. I think it they were too long, people wouldn't bother reading the whole thing.
Or maybe poetry could be included too.. either in the same content, or a separate contest.
