This forum is about fascism in general... feel free to comment about what countries are headed to this area of government, and what comes to mind about fascism. (i know, its hard to spell...)

Here is the definition of fascism from answers.com

1. Fascism
1. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
2. A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.
2. Oppressive, dictatorial control.

[Italian fascismo, from fascio, group, from Late Latin fascium, from Latin fascis, bundle.]
fascistic fas·cis'tic (fə-shĭs'tĭk) adj.

WORD HISTORY It is fitting that the name of an authoritarian political movement like Fascism, founded in 1919 by Benito Mussolini, should come from the name of a symbol of authority. The Italian name of the movement, fascismo, is derived from fascio, “bundle, (political) group,” but also refers to the movement's emblem, the fasces, a bundle of rods bound around a projecting axe-head that was carried before an ancient Roman magistrate by an attendant as a symbol of authority and power. The name of Mussolini's group of revolutionaries was soon used for similar nationalistic movements in other countries that sought to gain power through violence and ruthlessness, such as National Socialism.

The way things are going, I'm tempted to say that every nation (that isn't already) is going to be a fascist nation sooner or later.

(Another seal of approval)

This members, is one principle we must detest and resist.

Damn this almost makes me not want to tell anyone that I'm 1/4 Itailian. Estonia seems like the only other nation out there that is actually a Democracy. Has anyone seen Fiat's clown cars by the way?

Is anybody who's even a little German ashamed to say so because of what Adolf Hitler (who was actually Austrian) did?

No, I haven't seen Fiat's clown cars yet, but I bet I will soon when Obama has his way with car design.

I have a girl in my class that is half German and is leaning more towards liberal. But to have something as horrible as facism on an Itailian history book for the world to see? There's a lot to be done to make things seem better on their rap sheet. And if you haven't seem the clown cars here they are: http://www.fiat.com/cgi-bin/pbrand.dll/FIAT_COM/home.jsp
I don't even think a clown would drive those things.

Especially the punta! When people get a new car and are stuck with these to buy, I'll hang onto my Caravan, or might even get a 1990-95 Caprice or Roadmaster! I bet those things could rear-end me at 265, and I wouldn't feel a damn thing!
PostPosted: Fri Jun 19, 2009 7:06 pm

I'll stick with the Dodge Ram 2001 that I'm set to inherit soon. They'd probably just run up under me. And if they rear-ended something like that they'd be pancaked scrap metal while you would just keep driving and not even have a scratch. I think Toyota is trying a clown car to. I saw it at the eye doctors office today in Time magazine.

Have you read about Obama's "Cash for Clunkers" program? What a joke!
PostPosted: Fri Jun 19, 2009 7:24 pm

I heard of that. An idiot could come up with something better to do with the cash. Kinda like Glenn said when we had the Stimulus package. I wish it were sweets instead of pork so it tastes better when it goes down. Do you know anything on NC's governor Bev Perdue? If not then here's a link. I truly detest this woman and she won't be re-elected in this state next year.

The "Cash for Clunkers" program just inflates the trade-in price of a qualifying vehicle, while taking that vehicle off the road permanently.

Unfortunately though, the only thing I don't like about Beverly Perdue is the fact that she's in line with Barack Obama. I'll ask my monm about her though (who oddly enough actually voted for Obama, but is now pissed off at him).

Speaking of clown cars, check this out.

Holy crap that thing is tiny! What most people outside of this state don't realize that she wants to cut state employs (teachers, social workers, etc.) pay by 6% and force them to take 30 days off unpiad for the cut pay. But she won't take a pay cut herself. Then when some judges refused the pay cut and gave the part of their salary to the workers at their offices since thier pay was docked. Bev Perdue then released the names, addresses, and districts to the public. That is dirty politics.

Okay.... that heated my blood...

Almost reminds me of Christine Gregoire of Washington State, and how she stole the election.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 19, 2009 8:10 pm

Yeah and it ain't fair when my mom is one of those people either. Of course Bev won't cut what she likes and that's all the frivolous spending we have in my state. She won't be re-elected next year. The teachers thought she was on their side because Bev was a former teacher. Boy were they wrong cause now the teachers union is her worst enemy.
