Ever curious, Yuki welcomes a challenge. Born on the year in the rat, Yuki's biggest rival is Kyo (the cat).

When Akito decides that a person is to have their memory erased in order to protect the Sohma secret, Hatori is the man to do it. The Sohma curse has caused Hatori much pain in the past and only wishes that anyone outside the family stay away from the secret that could ruin their life. Naturally suspicious of others, Hatori's zodiac animal is the dragon (seahorse).

Ayame is the loud, egotistical, and over-dramatic member of the Sohma family. He is also Yuki's older brother. One of the oldest cursed members of the family, the flirtatious Ayame was born in the year of the snake.

Rin has lived a hard life, having her parents pretend that they loved her and then told her "The world would be better if you never came around." Once her parents snapped she lived with Kyou and his master for a little bit until, Kazuma figured out that his dojo wasn't the best place for Rin to be at. So he said Kagura's mother if she can live with them. Ever since that time she has been living with them. Even though she can't stand them, it was better there then be again all those boys. But she also spends a lot of time in a hospital. The first time she was in the hospital, Haru was there and promised he would protect her. And when Rin's mother came in yelling her Haru flipped out and yelled at Rin's mother. But ever since they have been together until, Akito pushed Rin out the window and told her if I see you with him again I won't just hurt you I will hurt him as well and then pushed her out the window. Hiro was there at the time Akito pushed Rin out the window. An when Hiro went to visit her at the hospital, she told him to never tell Haru about this. Then she broke up with Haru. And then a few months later, Hiro was unable to hide that fact from Haru anymore, he told him everything. What Akito said and what he did. Rin was locked up in a room for some time now and has been refusing to eat. The maid at the Main House was worried about her, for she was going to die if she doesn't eat anything soon. But Akito was keeping it secret form the other Sohma where she was. Kureno walked by a locked door that a maid come out of he said her for the key she refuse, but he got the key anyway. He opens the door to see long black hair cut and laying on the ground, and Rin sitting in the corner with short hair. He slowly moves her and calls Shigure to begin her to the hospital. She is in the hospital a lot, suffering from stomach ulcers (which I'm guessing were caused by stress). She's stubborn (as a mule? o_o) and has a tough attitude, often pushing others away and getting angry at them. She seems to be snooping around for something, but never quite finds what she wants to know. She doesn't like the idea of Tohru getting cozy with the family and wants her to go away, yet at the same time she wants Tohru to comfort her.

kureno:

Name: Kureno Sohma
Age: 26
Occupation: takes care of akito.
Animal: Rooster (but not any more)

Kureno is a quiet, obedient man. Akito keeps him close, and rarely lets him leave the house. Akito does not like outsiders to see his other form. Of the 12-shi Kureno probably knows the least about the outside world. His first visit to a convenience store was at the age of 26. Since he didn't know how to find a basket, he ended up dropping all of his snacks on the floor, sending Uotani into hysterics. Later, they had a chance meeting, and he bought her lunch. Uotani really likes Kureno, although she does not know that he is a Sohma. She thinks that his cold departure after lunch was because of their nine year age difference, but actually, Kureno has no desire to fight Akito who dominates every aspect of his life.

Kyou is a major hot-head with an anger problem. He's stubborn when it comes to defeating Yuki at just about anything, and is often enraged by simple little things. He gets especially mad at Tohru for always being so happy when it's understandable that she should be upset, and he encourages her to say what she wants. Kyou is also someone who has suffered a lot in the past and uses anger as means of protecting himself. He also blames himself and feels very guilty when somebody gets hurt, thinking that it's because of the cat's spirit inside of him.

Spoilers: The reason why Kyou is so dead-set on beating Yuki is a personal reason, but also because Kyou will be locked up if he doesn't. Akito made a deal with him, saying that if he beat Yuki before he graduates high school then he won't be locked up. However, if he doesn't, then Kyou will be locked up for the rest of his life. The reason for this imprisonment is so the rest of the juunishi can look down on him and realize that their emotional burden is not so bad compared to his. Kyou has known Kyoko since he was just a little boy and even made a promise to her about something. He is also haunted by memories of her death and about something she won't forgive him for, which are hints that he had something to do with her death or caused it in some way (he didn't necessarily kill her). Kyou has also admitted to himself that he is in love with Tohru, but feels that he has no right to be.

Yuki is an overall gentleman and over-achiever who is loved and adored by all (he even has a fanclub :O). At school he is known as "The Prince" and in the Sohma family he is known as "The Rat", but he doesn't like being labled. He is kind and patient with everybody, even if they give him a hard time and constantly annoy him. Although he admits to only being nice and polite because he wants people to like him, but he genuinely cherishes his relationship with Tohru. Yuki also greatly dislikes his brother Ayame, cannot stand Kyou, and has a traumatic past with Akito that he doesn't like to think about. Yuki longs for a mother-figure and desperately wants to escape from the Sohma "cage", and someday wants to be able to give back in a relationship instead of taking.

Spoilers: When Yuki was young, his mother gave him over to Akito because she wanted a higher status in the family and couldn't achieve it with a cursed child. Yuki suffered from frequent sickness and was even close to death; Akito only encouraged him to die because he was replaceable and often reminded him that nobody liked him and thought that he was useless. Yuki eventually bought into Akito's lies and became very lonely and despressed, longing to play with the other Sohma boys. Yuki is also the "red hat boy" who brought Tohru home after she got lost when they were little kids (although it was Kyou's hat). Even though Yuki has said to himself that Tohru is somebody very special to him, he only sees her as the mother he never had. He is fully aware of Kyou's feelings towards Tohru and warns him not to hurt her by pushing away.



Name: Sohma Shigure

Shigure is a carefree writer who loves teasing people, and especially enjoys giving Mii, his editor, plenty of trouble. He is often yelled at by Yuki and Kyou for being too perverted, but he is only joking and never does anything indecent. Shigure is an overall fun guy, but he admits that he is "filthy" and only cares about himself. In being a dog, it is not known where his true loyalties lie.

Spoilers: He is definitely plotting something with Akito and doesn't care about the outcome for others as long as he gets what he wants. It has something to do with a dream he had when he was little--something about the one he loved and great passion and feelings that he wants to make real. The dream was in fact about Akito, and Shigure dreampt it on the day Akito was conceived. The "great passion" that he describes could possibly be about his love for Akito (see Akito for the full story); he has admitted his love for Akito and seems like he'll go to great lengths to get returned feelings. Shigure has also slept with Akito's mother, Ren, to get back at Akito for sleeping with Kureno. Heh. Shigure also has a hunch that the curse will break within their generation, and that there will be a "final banquet" -- his reasons being that this is the first time the juunishi have all been gathered at the same time, and there are many things happening that are weakening the bond with the god.



Name: Sohma Kagura

Kagura first appears shy to most people, but when she sees Kyou she loses all self-control. She loves Kyou more than anything in the world, but all of her feelings tend to come out at once to the point where she's practically beating Kyou to a pulp and destroying everything in sight. She doesn't seem to notice how Kyou is always pushing her away, and gets very jealous when somebody else tries to come between them.

Spoilers: Later on in the manga Kagura makes a deal with Kyou, saying that she'll listen to what he has to say to her as long as she can take him on a date. She takes him to a little park where they used to play when they were kids. Kagura admits that she only wanted to play with Kyou because his life was worse than hers, because it made her feel better about herself. However, one day she pulled off the beads on his wrist and he transformed, and a very terrified Kagura ran away crying. After that, their friendship seemed to suffer and it wasn't the same anymore, so she forced herself to fall in love with him in order to make things heal. Of course, this didn't work very well, although Kagura did actually fall in love with him. Kyou admits to her that he doesn't love her and never will, but no matter what her intentions were, he was very happy she played with him. Kagura was heartbroken and cried for days, but still wouldn't give up loving Kyou.



Name: Sohma Momiji

Momiji is cute, energetic, and fun-loving. He always has a smile plastered on his face. He looks and acts like a little kid and dresses like a girl, but Momiji is actually a teenager, one year younger than Tohru, Yuki, and Kyou. Momiji takes an immediate liking to Tohru and always wants to spend time with her. Momiji is always trying to protect Tohru from harm, even if it means standing up to Akito.

Spoilers: When Momiji was born, his mother couldn't stand the fact that he was cursed, and she rejected him. She became very sick and couldn't get over it, so she had to have her memories suppressed--meaning, she forgot that Momiji was her child. Momiji, of course, was very upset about this, but tries to be happy for those around him. He says that even though his mother is better now that she's forgotten, a part of him still wants her to try and remember. This is also kept from his younger sister, Momo. Despite this, Momiji still loves his mother and sister very much. And as if this wasn't sad enough, the story continues when Momiji takes up violin lessons. Momo heard him playing and wandered over to his house, where she spyed on him day after day. Momo told Tohru that she wanted Momiji to be her older brother. And when Momiji's father found out, he had to have Momiji quit playing the violin.



Name: Sohma Hatori

Hatori tends to keep to himself a lot. He's a quiet man and doesn't seem to speak much, but he made an effort to tell Honda Tohru that she shouldn't get herself mixed up with the Sohmas. Since Hatori has memory-suppressing powers, Tohru was afraid that she'd be the next to forget; however, Hatori was only looking out for her because he didn't want her to suffer pain similiar to his. Hatori was often told by Akito that he is "as cold as snow" for not caring about the people whose memories he had to erase, but Hatori said that it was okay if his heart remained cold. He is also Shigure's and Ayame's childhood friend, and is more reserved and sophisticated compared to them.

Spoilers: Hatori is worried about Tohru because he is reminded of his old lover, Kana. Hatori had to suppress Kana's memories after they visited Akito, because Akito got very angry and hurt Hatori (nearly blinded him in his left eye), then blamed Kana. Kana was upset with herself for not being able to protect Hatori and she slowly became sick, so Hatori had to suppress her memories. Even though Hatori said the only person who could melt the snow around his heart was Kana, Hatori said that it was okay if his heart remained cold, as long as Kana had found someone to be happy with.



Name: Sohma Hatsuharu

Hatsuharu is a very calm and polite person, but if you push him too far then he'll turn into his alter ego--"Black Haru". While he's Black Haru he's rude, crude, and has uncontrollable rage. He also has a terrible sense of direction and often gets lost.

Spoilers: His alter ego originated from teasing when he was young, when the adults used to say how the ox was stupid for letting the rat ride on it's back all the way to the banquet. When Haru exploded and blamed Yuki, Yuki calmed him down and helped him realize that what the ox did wasn't Haru's fault. Since then Haru has claimed that Yuki was his first love. Haru went out of his way to protect Yuki from Akito, and even made a deal with Shigure so Yuki would be able to go live with him. Haru has also spent a lot of his childhood comforting Rin while she was having family issues. They've fallen in love, and although Rin is trying to push him away, he won't let her go.



Name: Sohma Ayame

Occupation: Makes clothes & runs a shop

Ayame is a very energetic man with a flamboyant personality. He tends to make a scene with his dramatic speeches and obnoxious laugh. He, Shigure, and Hatori have been friends since they were young. While Ayame and Shigure cause a lot of trouble together, Hatori is the only person who can get Ayame to behave. Ayame is also Yuki's older brother and feels guilty for ignoring Yuki when they were younger. Because of that, Ayame is trying to bridge the gap in their relationship by doing "brotherly" things and often exaggerates the situation so Yuki will forgive him. However, his personality leads Yuki to believe that he's not taking it seriously.



Name: Sohma Kisa

Lives in: Sohma estate

Kisa is a timid and shy girl who at first won't speak to anybody. She was teased and ostrasized at her school (due to her abnormal hair color) to the point where she was afraid to speak. She eventually overcame this with the help of Tohru and the other Sohmas. Kisa takes a strong liking to Tohru and follows her everywhere, and even calls her "sister".



Name: Sohma Hiro

Lives in: Sohma estate

Hiro's a young kid with one tough attitude. He's outspoken to a point where he can hurt feelings, even Tohru's (although she doesn't show it), and doesn't make an effort to hide the fact that he has a dislike for Tohru. Despite this, his heart is still in the right place when it comes to Kisa, probably the only person who doesn't make him angry in some way. Hiro becomes very impatient with Kisa for always wanting Tohru around, but he eventually gives in to make Kisa happy.

Spoilers: Not much of a spoiler, but his mother was pregnant and had a baby girl named Hinata. So, Hiro's now an older brother. ^o^



Name: Sohma Ritsu

Ritsu is a very insecure person; we discover that at the same time we find out that Ritsu is actually a man. Cross-dressing was something he did even when he was a child, and because of this his parents were ashamed and often apologized a bit too much to other people. Ritsu felt as if he was a disappointment, which only made him more insecure, which made him more afraid to dress more like a "normal" man. He eventually adopted his parents' habit of apologizing a bit too much, thinks it's his fault for everything that goes wrong, and ends up screaming endless apologizes to everyone. o.o



Name: Sohma Isuzu
Nicknames: Rin (Suzu = bell, Rin = sound of a bell)

Isuzu, more commonly known as Rin, is a girl who carries around a lot of suffering. Spoilers: When Rin was a little girl, her parents were always very loving towards her. Rin thought this was a little strange since juunishi parents were usually bitter towards their children, so Rin asked why they loved her so much. This made them snap, and after that, they never treated Rin properly again. They often abused her to the point where she needed to be hospitalized, and while she was at the hospital they told her they didn't want her to come back home. Hatsuharu witnessed almost everything that went on in her life and stayed with her very often just so she wouldn't be alone. They eventually fell in love, and although Rin hated it, she couldn't help but give in. They secretly began dating, but then one day Akito found out and was very angry with her, and ended up pushing her out a window. After that incident, Rin broke up with Haru without an explanation in order to protect him from Akito's wrath and has become determined to find out how to break the curse. Even though she pushes Haru away every time he tries to come near, Rin's intentions of breaking the curse are all for Haru's benefit because she wants the best for him.



Name: Sohma Kureno

Kureno first makes his debut when he meets Uotani Arisa. They even go on a date, but he disappears afterwards and refuses to see her. In fact, Kureno rarely goes outside of the Sohma estate, and is frequently seen by Akito's side. Kureno is a man full of mystery and secrets, and not much is known about him; he hasn't even transformed yet, but Akito confirmed that he is the bird. He seems like an overall good guy so far, because he kept Tohru out of trouble when she snuck into the Sohma estate.

Spoilers: Shigure and Hatori have finally figured it out--even though Kureno is cursed by the zodiac, somehow, he's been released from the curse. They're thinking it has something to do with his love and care for Akito. And Kureno, he does seem to care about Akito very much, and always has, but looks lonely when he thinks of Arisa.

Akito is definitely not one to be messed with. Even though he looks weak and sickly, he is able to frighten just about anyone who angers him. For a while he remained in the shadows, only being mentioned with family matters or when he needed medical treatment. In many peoples' eyes Akito is close to being labled psychotic, with his random outbursts of anger and his short tantrums that usually end in somebody getting hurt. For some unexplained reason he has a strong dislike for women, and has some kind of angry obsession with Honda Tohru. He can't stand the idea of somebody taking away "his" juunishi and tends to keep them in the Sohma "cage".

Major Spoilers: He is using Tohru for some kind of plan, but won't reveal what it is (obviously razz ). His relationship with the juunishi is that of a god and the zodiac; meaning, he is the closest thing to god when it comes to the juunishi. He is also planning on having all of the juunishi come live with him someday, even if it's against their wishes.

Major spoiler: As shocking as this may seem... Akito is actually a woman. Her mother, Ren, wanted to raise her as a man, but the reason why is unknown. Akito and her mother are not very fond of each other, seeing as they fight verbally and physically. Ren argues that Akito is forcing the juunishi bond on the others, and Akito isn't pleased with her mother's "lust" towards the juunishi. Apparently, Akito and Shigure have had a "relationship" going for quite a while now, but nobody seems to know about it. Akito appears to be afraid of getting too close. It may be that her fear of her mother being "lustful" with them stems from Shigure having slept with Ren to get back at Akito for sleeping with Kureno. Talk about drama.

Major spoilers: Since solid information about Ren has only appeared in one chapter of the manga, there isn't much to say about her. However, it's known that Ren Sohma is Akito's mother, and it was her idea for Akito to be raised as a man, though her motives behind that decision are unknown. Ren tries to convince Akito that her idea of the juunishi bond is false, and that she needs to love the juunishi instead of making them miserable. Akito, however, doesn't want to listen, and takes that as an insult. They don't get along because of this, and get into verbal and phsyical fights. Ren admits that she'd rather be with Akira (her husband) in heaven than with Akito. <<
