Sprites are in a way a combination of spirits and agents. Sprites are compiled(similar to summoning) for a Matrix-based action, that way you don't have to devote any resources or take any risks concerning it(like agents). The downside is that, like agents, sprites have a limited capacity for improvisation. They don't think outside the box, they do what they're compiled to do.
