My good people because of recent events in the guild involving the use of the word 'magic' I would like to explain the difference between the two spellings.
Magic by todays modern definition is an act of prestidigatation. (Correct my spelling if its wrong. I know the word but spelling is different.) In other words: Its what magicians do.
Magick is an act of controlled surreal or supernatural phenomenon which enhance human ability or transform an object (I know what I'm talking about. Don't think that this is fake. I've seen it done.) into something else. Water to wine sound familiar? Biblical references of divinity are the same as magick.
Just thought I would correct some people on that.

Sorry, but I'm going into linguistics, and you can use whatever bloody word you want as long as your meaning is understood. If someone wants to spell it with a c, and you still know what they meant by it, then communication has effectively occurred, and it doesn't matter.
The distinction is nothing more than personal preference.
And this is from someone who is going to major in the study of language.

Aye, yeah, she's right.
Lots of people in the Vampire/Energy Worker/etc communities use the separate spellings to differentiate but neither's wrong.

I say this as because when I see the word 'magic' I think of Criss Angel. I just want people to understand the difference between the two spellings. Although in our community here on Gaia the word is understood no matter how it is spelled some people may get confused. And confusion is something that causes communities (such as our guild) to collapse.

I'm going to add my two cents worth in here, take it for what it is worth. Some people in the Magical Community prefere to use 'magick' to distinguish their magic from pulling rabbits out of a hat 'magic'. In reality, its really up to the person, if they want to spell it m-a-g-i-c-k or m-a-g-i-c. Personally, I can't think of a single good reason to abandon proper spelling and grammar simply because you're gaining a higher knowledge of the world around you. This is just my opinion of course.

I hate the K spelling, it looks retarded. Magic Is magic. Stage magic is stage magic, and magick is a stupid spelling of the two.
If your in a conversation with a pagan and you start talking about magic it's pretty common that they are talking about actual magic. You don't new to rewrite the dictionary to state that as it's obvious what your talking about..

I've seen the spelling "Majik" and "Majyk" used for the purposes of defining voudou and folk-magic. It's possible that they mixed the two or tried to, putting the K at the with of Magic.

Reguardless of how someone chooses to spell it, we all know what people are talking about. Its not a huge issue really.

I never use the spelling 'magick.' *shrugs* I have a friend who does though, but she knows what I am talking about when I say 'magic.' I think once putting the word into context, that we will understand almost immediately which type was intended regardless of spelling.
