About the Quizzes

Every Sunday Morning I am going to post up a Harry Potter quiz. These will be for fun, and if you answer the questions correctly you can get house points. You will not be penalized for incorrect answers, so we encourage you all to try.

To do the quiz you must pm it to me with the title ___________ rocks. (Put your house name in the blank, and color code your quiz with your house color.) To get the max points you must follow all directions perfectly, and I will not accept any quizzes after midnight Mountain time in the U.S. on Friday night. If you don't know what time that would be for you, don't procrastinate until Friday to give it to me.

Each week there will be five questions, and they can be as easy as name the four Hogwarts houses, to as hard as name the month Lily Evans was born in. All of the answers will be in the books or movies, and all of them are questions I can answer.

As you might have guessed, there are fules to follow with this. You have to answer them from memory. You can't look through the books, watch the movies, look online, or ask a friend for help. I understand that I don't know if you guys are cheating so I'm just going to have to trust you, but please just be honest. You are not penalized for incorrect answers, but you will be heavily penalized if caught cheating so just show me what you know. Try to get these to me as soon as possible. The first person who gets it back to me will score five house points right off for being outstanding.

Also, I am the ONLY one who will accept the quiz because I am the only one who is not sorted into a house, and I am Headmistress.

We're going to start this year off with different quotes for the Harry Potter series. I'll post something and you fill in the blank; I'll give double points for telling me who said it. Good luck.

"You're a ______ Harry."

"There will be no foolish __________ or silly _________ in this class."

"Hearing _____ no one else can hear isn't a good sign, even in the wizarding world"

"Is a ________ grudge worth putting an innocent man back in Azkaban?"

"Now if you two don't mind, I'm going to bed, before either of you come up with another clever plan to get us ______ or worse ________."

Alright last week I gave you a way to get 10 instead of 5 without being first. Get ready for that again and you can do that by telling me 1 of the 2 things different about this quiz. For one of them you'll be able to tell by re-reading my intro. I was really pleased by the number of applications sent in last week so lets see if we can try to top that.

1. Which of these names from the books is the name of a saint?

Hedwig
Aberforth
Poppy
Bagshot

2. Which character in the book derives her name from the daughter of the ancient Greek King Menelaus and Helen of Troy?

Ginny
Sybil
Minerva
Hermione

3. Where does Sirius Black get his first name from?

A star
A mythical creature
A Latin word
A Roman god

4. Nicholas Flamel was a real person. True or false?

True
False

5. What does the spell "Densaugeo" do?

Makes teeth grow
Makes things disappear
Repels water
Stops things

Haha I'm on time. Sorry guys, but no extra credit this time around unless you manage to get the quiz in first. Good luck to you all.

At the Yule Ball in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", Harry and Ron only listen to Hagrid and Maxime's conversation because who or what is in their way?

Who claimed credit for Percy Weasley storming from the house during Christmas with his glasses splattered with mashed potatoes in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"? (Hint: 3 people for credit)

Who was the first to tell McGonagall that Harry would “die” after their first Divination class in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban"?

What does mixing powdered root of asphodel and an infusion of wormwood make from Snape's questions in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"?

Which bottle did Harry drink to get through to the Sorcerer’s Stone?

Well it's early Sunday morning but I can't sleep and I'm bored so I thought why not? Good luck everyone, this should be an easier one than last week. There is no extra credit this week unless you're the first to turn it in.

This form of Apparition can be used to take an underage or injured witch or wizard with the person who is Apparating.

These flying animals are not usually seen as a common form of transportation but can still be very useful to those who can see their benefits. They have an excellent sense of direction and can also be used to pull loads such as carriages.

This is the most common form of magical transportation for children under the age of 17, and it involves an object which is also part of a popular game called Quidditch.

Stranded witches or wizards use this uncomfortable form of public transportation that charges a fee for its services throughout England, Scotland, and Wales.

This form of transportation requires at least two fireplaces and very clear speech.

Did you enjoy your easy week? Well I'm back with some fresh ones and I had a lot of fun with these. It's about Horcruxes so those of you that haven't read the books it's going to be difficult but why not give it a shot? For those that are giving it a shot a Horcrux is an object that can hold part of a soul. It's how Voldemort stayed alive.

Which was the first inanimate-object horcrux to appear in the "Harry Potter" heptalogy?

How many of the horcruxes were objects owned by Hogwarts' founders?

Which Hogwarts house ghost was a relative of one of the founders, and had knowledge about a founders object which became a horcrux?

Which horcrux near-fatally attacked someone possessing it just before it was itself destroyed? (I'm taking 3 answers here. Each are worth one point so it's your chance to get extra credit)

Only Griffindors could kill or destroy pieces of Voldemort's soul. (There's a true of false one for yeah.)

More on horcruxes because I really liked this section and there is a lot to cover. We'll move on next week though. I promise.

How many functional horcruxes were created by Voldemort?

In what scene in the "Harry Potter" books were four pieces of Voldemort's soul in the same place at the same time?

How many pieces of Voldemort's soul were destroyed within one day?

Who first discovered that Harry did not die in the Forbidden Forest, after Voldemort sent a Killing Curse at him?

Of the following methods, which destroyed the fewest pieces of Voldemort's soul?

Avada Kedavra curse
Griffindor's Sword
Fiendfyre
Basilisk Fang

Alright I'm going to get attacked this week it looks like but here you are. Since the 6th movie just came out I thought we'd have a small refresher. You ready? Here we go.

What is Dumbledore's favourite flavor of jam?

Who confunded Cormac McLaggen so he wouldn't get the keeper position on the Gryffindor Quidditch team?

What does Dumbledore set on fire at the orphanage to prove to a young Tom Riddle that he's a wizard?

What sweet treat did Romilda Vane put a love potion in for Harry?

Who sang at Dumbledore's funeral?

Alright I know it's late and last week I didn't even bother but you try being on top of things all the time. Especially when you don't even get to do the quiz. smile Either way here's a bit of Death Eater Trivia.

Although Sirius Black's family was usually in Slytherin, he was in Gryffindor. How many of his relatives (including by marriage) became Death Eaters?

Once, Voldemort took a wand from a Death Eater to try and kill Harry, but Harry destroyed the Death Eater's wand without even trying; in fact, Harry didn't do anything at all. Which Death Eater did the borrowed wand belong to?

Once, Peter Pettigrew was to kill Harry, but he paused for a second and was killed. Who, or what, killed him?

Fenrir Greyback was no ordinary Death Eater. What was different about him?

Which death eater was in love with a member of the Order of the Pheonix long past the death of the member?
